Book Strange Particle Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s

Download or read book Strange Particle Production in Pp Collisions at Sqrt s written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The spectra of strange hadrons are measured in proton-proton collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9 and 7 TeV. The K0_s, Lambda, and Xi-̂ particles and their antiparticles are reconstructed from their decay topologies and the production rates are measured as functions of rapidity and transverse momentum. The results are compared to other experiments and to predictions of the PYTHIA Monte Carlo program. The transverse momentum distributions are found to differ substantially from the PYTHIA results and the production rates exceed the predictions by up to a factor of three.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Articles focus on the planned European proton-proton collider, and concentrate on physics issues, rather than the more technical concerns addressed in the three previous workshops. The use of energies much higher than those of the American Superconducting Super Collider is featured. Topics include reviews of current projects, hadron collisions, lep

Book Strange particle Production in High energy Anti Nu And Nu Charged current Interactions on Protons

Download or read book Strange particle Production in High energy Anti Nu And Nu Charged current Interactions on Protons written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have studied the semi-inclusive reactions anti .nu.p .-->. .mu. V°X and .nu.p .-->. .mu.−V°X, and measured the fractional rate for producing one or more neutral strange particles in these reactions to be 0.16 +- 0.03 and 0.15 +- 0.04, respectively. We have observed K−(892) and .sigma.−(1385) production in anti .nu.p scattering at a few percent of the inclusive rate. No evidence for D° production was seen in the K/sub s/°.pi.pi.− final state. The distributions in the standard deep-inelastic kinematic variables are presented for events with strange particles and compared to those for the other charged current data. The fragmentation properties of events containing a K/sub s/° are in agreement with results from electroproduction experiments, and we have measured .integral.0 31 ° 1/N/sub T/ dn/dz dz/sub dz//sup dN/ dz = 0.029 +- 0.005, which is smaller than the prediction of the Field and Feynman fragmentation model.

Book Search for Charmed Particle Production in Proton proton Collisions at the CERN ISR 53 GeV c M

Download or read book Search for Charmed Particle Production in Proton proton Collisions at the CERN ISR 53 GeV c M written by and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental results on a search for charmed particle production in proton-proton collisions at the center of mass energy (.sqrt.s) of 53 GeV are presented. Evidence of cidences, a signature of charmed particle production, was sought. The inclusive e/.pi. ratio was measured with a magnetic spectrometer located at 32° from Beam 1 of Intersection I6 of the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings (ISR). The e/.pi. ratio from direct (unknown) sources was found to rise from 1.06 x 10−4 at p/sub perpendicular to/ = 1.5 GeV/c to 5.53 x 10−4 at p/sub perpendicular to/ = 0.25 GeV/c. One possible source for this signal is the semi-leptonic decay of charmed particles (e.g., D .-->. K° e.nu.). If so, then electron-strange particle (e.g., .lambda.°, K°) coincidences are expected. The charged decay products of .lambda.° and K° were detected in a multiparticle spectrometer surrounding Beam 1 downstream of the intersection. To determine if there is an electron-strange particle correlation, the number of .lambda.°'s (K°'s) in coincidence with an electron in the 32° spectrometer was compared with the number of .lambda.'s (K°'s) in coincidence with a hadron in the same kinematic range. No evidence for an enhanced production of strange particles with electrons relative to hadrons was found. However, given the acceptance of the apparatus, the absence of a signal is consistent with current models of charmed particle production and decay. 40 references, 51 figures, 20 tables.

Book Exclusive Neutral Strange Particle Production from Double Pomeron Exchange Produced by Proton proton Interactions at Radical S

Download or read book Exclusive Neutral Strange Particle Production from Double Pomeron Exchange Produced by Proton proton Interactions at Radical S written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data are presented for the first time on exclusive Pomeron-Pomeron interactions which produce a neutral strange and neutral antistrange particle pair in a central system X. In this paper, the system, X, is identified as one of the following neutral combinations; K{sub s}°K{sub s}°, K{sub s}°K{sup {plus minus}}[pi]{sup {minus plus}}, [Lambda]°{bar [Lambda]}°, [Lambda]°{bar [Lambda]}°*. These data were obtained in proton-proton collisions at √s = 62 GeV at the CERN ISR. The triggering systems used to obtain these data are described, followed by a description of the data. The central system mass distributions are presented along with differential mass cross section estimates. A broad enhancement is seen in the K{sub s}°K{sub s}° system at a mass of 1.2 GeV, and is likely to have the quantum numbers J{sup PC} = 0{sup ++}. Total cross section estimates of 1.3 {plus minus} .64 [mu]b in the K2°K{sub s}° system, . 44 {plus minus} .14 [mu]b in the K{sub s}°K{sup {plus minus}}[pi]{sup {minus plus}} system, .20 {plus minus} .14 [mu]b in the {Lambda}°{bar {Lambda}}° system, and .13 {plus minus} .06 [mu]b in the {Lambda}°{bar {Lambda}}°* system are obtained.
