Book Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry II

Download or read book Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry II written by and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2013-07-23 with total page 7694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry II, Nine Volume Set reviews and examines topics of relevance to today’s inorganic chemists. Covering more interdisciplinary and high impact areas, Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry II includes biological inorganic chemistry, solid state chemistry, materials chemistry, and nanoscience. The work is designed to follow on, with a different viewpoint and format, from our 1973 work, Comprehensive Inorganic Chemistry, edited by Bailar, Emeléus, Nyholm, and Trotman-Dickenson, which has received over 2,000 citations. The new work will also complement other recent Elsevier works in this area, Comprehensive Coordination Chemistry and Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry, to form a trio of works covering the whole of modern inorganic chemistry. Chapters are designed to provide a valuable, long-standing scientific resource for both advanced students new to an area and researchers who need further background or answers to a particular problem on the elements, their compounds, or applications. Chapters are written by teams of leading experts, under the guidance of the Volume Editors and the Editors-in-Chief. The articles are written at a level that allows undergraduate students to understand the material, while providing active researchers with a ready reference resource for information in the field. The chapters will not provide basic data on the elements, which is available from many sources (and the original work), but instead concentrate on applications of the elements and their compounds. Provides a comprehensive review which serves to put many advances in perspective and allows the reader to make connections to related fields, such as: biological inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, solid state chemistry and nanoscience Inorganic chemistry is rapidly developing, which brings about the need for a reference resource such as this that summarise recent developments and simultaneously provide background information Forms the new definitive source for researchers interested in elements and their applications; completely replacing the highly cited first edition, which published in 1973

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lanthanides are of great importance for the electronic industries, this new book (from the EIBC Book Series) provides a comprehensive coverage of the basic chemistry, particularly inorganic chemistry, of the lanthanoid elements, those having a 4f shell of electrons. A chapter is describing the similarity of the Group 3 elements, Sc, Y, La, the group from which the lanthanoids originate and the group 13 elements, particularly aluminum, having similar properties. Inclusion of the group 3 and 13 elements demonstrates how the lanthanoid elements relate to other, more common, elements in the Periodic Table. Beginning chapters describe the occurrence and mineralogy of the elements, with a focus on structural features observed in compounds described in later chapters. The majority of the chapters is organized by the oxidation state of the elements, Ln(0), Ln(II), Ln(III), and Ln(IV). Within this organization the chapters are further distinguished by type of compound, inorganic (oxides and hydroxides, aqueous speciation, halides, alkoxides, amides and thiolates, and chelates) and organometallic. Concluding chapters deal with diverse and critically important applications of the lanthanoids in electronic and magnetic materials, and medical imaging.

Book Synthesis of Chiral Rare Earth and Alkaline Earth Compounds

Download or read book Synthesis of Chiral Rare Earth and Alkaline Earth Compounds written by Meng He and published by Cuvillier Verlag. This book was released on 2016-08-16 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first chiral amidinate borohydride rare earth compounds and compounds based on (S)-HPEBA ((S,S)-N,N-bis-(1-phenylethyl)benzamidine) ligand were reported by Roesky et al. To continuing this work, the new chiral ligand (S)-HNEBA ((S,S)-N,N-bis-(1-naphthylethyl)benzamidine) were synthesized. The corresponding amidinate metal complexes were successfully obtained by amine elimination. The luminescent and magnetic properties of rare earth compounds were studied. Alkaline earth metal compounds have been extensively studied as catalysts in synthetic chemistry. However, chiral amidinate alkaline earth metal complexes have never been reported. Chiral amidinate ligand (S)-HPEBA was introduced into the coordination chemistry of the alkaline earth metal as well as divalent lanthanides, their catalytic activities in hydrophosphination have been investigated. The Ba compound showed high catalytic activities in the hydrophosphination reaction. Moreover, since rare earth metal COT complexes exhibit excellent SMM behavior, it is of great interest to study the magnetic behavior of COT amidinate complexes. Thus, amidine ligand (S)-HPEBA and (S)-HPETA are introduced into the corresponding COT amidinate complexes for magnetic properties studies. The Er Compound exhibited typical field-induced SMM behavior. Furthermore, inspired by the promising application of lanthanide SMMs and the research of SMMs based on sandwich type lanthanide complexes, a series of novel sandwich type complexes comprising of Pc and COT ligand were designed and synthesized.

Book Synthesis and Chemistry of Cationic D Sup 0 Metal Alkyl Complexes

Download or read book Synthesis and Chemistry of Cationic D Sup 0 Metal Alkyl Complexes written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this project is to develop new types of electrophilic metal alkyl complexes for catalytic C-H activation and olefin polymerization chemistry, and associated fundamental mechanistic studies. We have focused our efforts on four classes of early metal alkyl complexes: (1) cationic group 4 Cp2M(R) complexes (1) which are active species in Cp2MX2-based Ziegler-Natta olefin polymerization catalyst systems and which catalyze productive C-H activation reactions of heterocycles, (2) neutral (dicarbollide)(Cp*)M(R) complexes (2) which are structurally are electronically very similar to 1, (3) half-sandwich complexes CpM(R)2(L){sub n} which are highly coordinatively and electronically unsaturated, and (4) new group 5 (dicarbollide)(Cp)MR2 and (dicarbollide)2 MR complexes which are more unsaturated than group 5 Cp2M systems due to incorporation of the dicarbollide ligand.

Book Aspects of Divalent Rare earth metal Alkyl and Amide Chemistry

Download or read book Aspects of Divalent Rare earth metal Alkyl and Amide Chemistry written by Markus Katzenmayer and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Defined metalmethyl compounds were first reported in the middle of the 19th century and the interest in metal alkyls is still growing. So far 26 out of 60 non-radioactive metals have been found to form homoleptic isolable methyl componds [M(CH3)x] (x = 1-6). The report on the successful synthesis of dimethylcalcium [CaMe2]n triggered further research on the often discussed parallels of alkaline-earth metals and the divalent rare-earth-metals Sm2+, Eu2+ and Yb2+. Dimethylytterbium [YbMe2]n could be accessed via the reaction of the donor-free precursor [Yb{N(SiMe3)2}2]2 with methyllithium. [YbMe2]n was fully characterized and follow-up chemistry was investigated. Noteworthily, the protonolysis reaction of [YbMe2]n with protic hydrotris(3-tBu-5-Me-pyrazolyl)borate HTptBu,Me gave the first terminal Yb2+ methyl complex [TptBu,MeYb(CH3)(thf)] providing direct evidence of the existence of the methyl precursor. Further, the synthesis of the divalent dimethyl compounds of samarium and europium was attempted. The focus of the second part of this work was the synthesis of new rare-earth-metal imide complexes. Through a one-pot salt-metathesis reaction (LnI2(thf)2 + KTptBu,Me + KNHR with Ln = Sm, Eu, Yb and R = 2,6-iPr-C6H3, 2,6-Me-C6H3, 3,5-CF3-C6H3, SiPh3) or a protonolysis approach (TptBu,MeYb(N(SiMe3)2) + H2NR, R = R = 2,6-iPr-C6H3, 3,5-CF3-C6H3, SiPh3) efficient access to amide complexes [TptBu,MeYbNH(R)(thf)x] (R = 2,6-iPr-C6H3, 2,6-Me-C6H3, 3,5-CF3-C6H3, SiPh3) could be gained. All synthesized complexes were fully characterized and their reactivity toward Lewis acids and bases as well as their redox chemistry was further investigated. The obtained compounds are potential precursor complexes for the synthesis of rare-earth-metal imide complexes.
