Download or read book Troubles de l apprentissage chez l enfant written by LENOBLE Evelyne and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2014-01-15 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Neuropsychology of Childhood Epilepsy

Download or read book Neuropsychology of Childhood Epilepsy written by Isabelle Jambaqué and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the neuropsychological description of childhood epilepsy, a neurolo- cal condition that constitutes one of the most prevalent forms of chronic and disabling childhood illnesses. Indeed, one child out of 20 experiences one or more seizures before the age of 5, and one in a hundred develops epilepsy as a chronic disorder. Approximately half of these children with epilepsy display academic difficulties and/or behavioral disorders. Moreoever, it is now believed that a sizable proportion of children with learning disability suffer from undiagnosed epilepsy. While a great number of textbooks have been devoted to various medical aspects of chi- hood epilepsy (diagnosis, genetics, etiology, drug and surgical treatment, etc.), there have been no comprehensive accounts of the cognitive consequences of this condition. Advance of medical knowledge has shown that childhood epilepsy should not be considered as a single disorder but encompasses a whole range of different conditions that exhibit specific clinical EEG and outcome characteristics. It is not becoming apparent that these various clinical entities have different cognitive expression that yet need to be specified. The purpose of this book is to provide a complete up-to-date analysis of this multi-faceted pathology.

Book Articulations Between Tangible Space Graphical Space and Geometrical Space

Download or read book Articulations Between Tangible Space Graphical Space and Geometrical Space written by Claire Guille-Biel Winder and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-07-26 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to present some of the latest research in the didactics of space and geometry, deepen some theoretical questions and open up new reflections for discourse. Its focus is as much on the approach of geometry itself and its link with the structuring of space as it is on the practices within the classroom, the dissemination of resources, the use of different artefacts and the training of teachers in this field. We study how spatial knowledge, graphical knowledge and geometric knowledge are taken into account and articulated in the teaching of space and geometry in compulsory schools, teaching resources (programs and textbooks) and current teacher training. We question how the semiotic dimension (language, gestures and signs) of geometric activity can be taken into account, and we identify the role of artefacts (digital or tangible) in the teaching and learning of geometry. This book brings together some fifteen contributions from Frenchspeaking researchers from different countries (France, Switzerland and Canada).

Download or read book Neuropsychologie et troubles des apprentissages chez l enfant written by Michèle Mazeau and published by Elsevier Masson. This book was released on 2014-10-28 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Children Without Language

Download or read book Children Without Language written by Laurent Danon-Boileau and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communication and language disorders are often considered from one particular point of view - either psychological or neurological. Danon-Boileau argues that this is a serious mistake. He emphasizes that a child's trouble can stem from a variety of causes: neurological problems similar to those of aphasia, cognitive impairments, and psychological disorders, and, thus, the interaction of these elements needs to be taken into account. In precise case studies, Danon-Boileau describes the situations he has confronted and traces the causes of changes in the child when they happen. Combining linguistic, cognitive, and psycholanalytic approaches, Children without Language provides a unique perspective on speech and communication disorders in children and will be an essential volume for speech therapists, developmental psychologists, linguistics scholars and anyone wishing to reflect seriously on why we speak and how communication occurs.

Book Neuropsychologie et troubles des apprentissages

Download or read book Neuropsychologie et troubles des apprentissages written by Michèle Mazeau and published by Elsevier Masson. This book was released on 2005 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Intellectual Disabilities

Download or read book Intellectual Disabilities written by J. A. Rondal and published by . This book was released on 2004-03-12 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in biobehavioural sciences are bringing important changes in the field of intellectual disabilities. Of particular interest is the description of particular behavioural phenotypes related to but distinct from genotypes, and the extent to which they are specific. In this text, more than 20 particular genetic syndromes with marked levels of intellectual disability are identified and described from a variety of points of view, including cognitive, language, behavioural, adaptive and social and community inclusion aspects. Readers should better understand genetic intellectual disabilities and how they affect individual behaviours. Researchers and practitioners, including mental health professionals, speech-language therapists, special educators and social workers, should learn considerably more about actively researched syndromes such as Down, Williams, Fragile-X, Prader-Willi, Angelman, Rett, 5-p (Cri-du-chat), Noonan and several others, and obtain the evidence-based information they need to improve developmental, educational, occupational and residential situations, favouring inclusion for the people with intellectual disability syndromes.

Download or read book Neuro written by Nikolas Rose and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2013-02-24 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The brain sciences are influencing our understanding of human behavior as never before, from neuropsychiatry and neuroeconomics to neurotheology and neuroaesthetics. Many now believe that the brain is what makes us human, and it seems that neuroscientists are poised to become the new experts in the management of human conduct. Neuro describes the key developments--theoretical, technological, economic, and biopolitical--that have enabled the neurosciences to gain such traction outside the laboratory. It explores the ways neurobiological conceptions of personhood are influencing everything from child rearing to criminal justice, and are transforming the ways we "know ourselves" as human beings. In this emerging neuro-ontology, we are not "determined" by our neurobiology: on the contrary, it appears that we can and should seek to improve ourselves by understanding and acting on our brains. Neuro examines the implications of this emerging trend, weighing the promises against the perils, and evaluating some widely held concerns about a neurobiological "colonization" of the social and human sciences. Despite identifying many exaggerated claims and premature promises, Neuro argues that the openness provided by the new styles of thought taking shape in neuroscience, with its contemporary conceptions of the neuromolecular, plastic, and social brain, could make possible a new and productive engagement between the social and brain sciences."--Publisher's description.

Book Short term and Working Memory

Download or read book Short term and Working Memory written by Susan E. Gathercole and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This special issue ponders a detailed and contemporary analysis of the theoretical underpinnings of short-term and working memory. Articles focus on short-term memory for phonological, semantic, and spatial material, on executive function and on short-term forgetting. The empirical perspectives include the neuroimaging of short-term memory, short-term memory development and the neuropsychology and neurobiology of memory, in addition to laboratory-based experimental studies. Together, these articles identify significant current models and approaches to short-term and working memory, providing a broad set of perspectives which illustrate the wide impact of working memory on the understanding of human cognition.

Book excerpt: Neuropsychology has become a very important aspect for neurologists in clinical practice as well as in research. Being a specialized field in psychology, its long history is based on different historical developments in brain science and clinical neurology. In this volume, we want to show how present concepts of neuropsychology originated and were established by outlining the most important developments since the end of the 19th century. The articles of this book that cover topics such as aphasia, amnesia and dementia show a great multicultural influence due to an editorship and authorship that spans all developmental initiatives in Europe, Asia, and America. This book gives a better understanding of the development of higher brain function studies and is an interesting read for neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, neurosurgeons, historians, and anyone else interested in the history of neuropsychology.
