Book Party Organization and Electoral Volatility in Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book Party Organization and Electoral Volatility in Central and Eastern Europe written by Sergiu Gherghina and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-10-17 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Political parties in post-communist countries have very high levels of electoral volatility. In these environments, political factions fail to establish long-term connections with the electorate and thus regularly rise and fall from the political arena. This book provides an organizational explanation for the variations in party-level electoral volatility. It looks comparatively at 29 political parties in six Central and Eastern European democracies between 1990 and 2008 to examine how political parties can influence their electoral environment. Using empirical evidence, Gherghina tests the effect of candidate selection procedures, membership organizations, and re-nomination of incumbent MPs on voters’ loyalty, and in doing so, demonstrates how party organization greatly affects electoral stability. Including case studies from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia this book will be of interest to students and scholars of comparative politics, party politics, democratization, elections, and Central and Eastern European politics.

Book The Official Party Planning Guide

Download or read book The Official Party Planning Guide written by Antonio Diaz and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-08-24 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You know what? I love party planning. I realize not everyone feels this way and though that is very difficult for me to understand, I'm trying to cope. I love the process of planing a fiesta form start to finish. From brainstorming to seeing the results on the day of your event; it's all so exciting for me. Sometimes when I plan events, I have a tendency to overthink things. So to help you not do that, I'm sharing a few really easy party planning tips. One thing I've found that makes party planning manageable is having a theme. Your theme doesn't need to be overly complicated - that defeats the purpose. Determining the theme for your party narrows down the list of foods to serve, music to play and drinks to have. Most folks planning parties fail to prep and ensure they have enough time to get themselves ready. When I plan parties, I always add a little extra cushion of time to finish setting up, get myself ready and pour a cocktail. In the crazy excitement of planning for a party, it's very important to make sure you have enough time to relax and chill before your guests arrive. You can find everything you need to start your own party in this book!

Top analysts of party politics provide insightful chapters that explore how and why the U.S. parties have changed over time, including major organizational transformations by the parties, behavioral changes among candidates and party activists, and attitudinal changes among their partisans in the electorate. The authors discuss the way the traditional concept of formal party organizations gave way over time to a candidate-centered model, fueled in part by changes in campaign finance, the rise of new communication technologies, and fragmentation of the electorate. This book is an ideal reference for students and researchers who want to develop a deeper understanding of the current challenges faced by citizens of republican government in the United States.

Book National Party Organizations and Party Brands in American Politics

Download or read book National Party Organizations and Party Brands in American Politics written by Blythe and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new assessment on the role, influence, and limitations of the Democratic and Republican National Committees in American political development. Scholars have long debated the role and importance of the Democratic and Republican National Committees in American politics. In National Party Organizations and Party Brands in American Politics, Boris Heersink identifies a core DNC and RNC role that has thus far been missed: creating national party brands. Drawing on extensive historical case studies and quantitative analysis, Heersink argues that the DNC and RNC have consistently prioritized their role of using publicity to inform voters about their parties' policies and priorities from the beginning of the twentieth century onwards. Both committees invested heavily in political communication tools with the goal of shaping voters' perceptions of their parties. As Heersink shows, the DNC and RNC often have considerable freedom in determining what type of brands to promote, placing them in the center of major intra-party debates in the twentieth century--including Prohibition, civil rights, foreign affairs, and economic policy. Analytically rigorous and marshaling a vast body of research on US elections between 1912 and 2016, this book highlights how important national party organizations are in setting the agenda in American politics.

Book The Communist Parties of Italy France and Spain

Download or read book The Communist Parties of Italy France and Spain written by Peter Lange and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-06-29 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1981, The Communist Parties of Italy, France, and Spain presents a comparative and integrative overview of the development of three Communist parties in the postwar Europe. Through the systematic presentation of the most important documents of the Communist parties, the book provides an access to the basic declarations and positions to illustrate the strategic and ideological evolution of these three parties in the advanced industrial democracies. Eurocommunism, the editors argue cannot be usefully understood as a phenomenon which suddenly appeared and equally as rapidly disappeared, in the 1970s. Rather it is a process of adaptation and change which characterizes the development of all three parties since World War II. The explicitly comparative organisation of the documents into five basic themes -general strategy, alliances, party organization, international policy, policy toward the communist movement, allows the reader both to follow any single party in a specific policy area or to compare the parties in response to major domestic or international events of significance. Rich in archival material, this book will be an invaluable resource to scholars and researchers of European Politics, comparative politics, comparative communism and modern European history. .
