Download or read book Voluntary to Mandatory ESG Reporting written by Peter Yeoh and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2024-08-13 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on the impacts of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters, companies, financial institutions, and regulators are continually seeking sustainability-driven models and standards on ESG themes in the sourcing, design, and provision of products and services. This welcome and thoroughly researched book, by a well-known authority in corporate and financial services law, engages with developments in ESG soft and hard law as business responsibility shades into business accountability. The author offers a sweeping, in-depth consideration of the current and future role of ESG reporting and compliance, encompassing such issues and topics as the following: purpose and forms of regulation for non-financial reporting; mandatory ESG reporting implementation issues; role of the company board; recognition of threats posed by ‘greenwashing’ and similar tactics; clean energy versus sustainable supply chains; limits and weaknesses of ESG reporting; help from AI and other software solutions; and progress in the global quest for a universal ESG reporting standard. Although some companies retain their social and political licences to operate and thwart ESG, robust data and persuasive contentions worldwide show that deliberations on how best to promote global sustainability in the long term have become standard business practice. Accordingly, this book clearly demonstrates how including ESG in business decisions ultimately contributes to stable and predictable markets. Its insights and guidance will be greatly appreciated by all those needing to engage with ESG reporting, whether lawyers, investors, regulators, business stakeholders, or academics.

Download or read book Sustainable Investing written by Herman Bril and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-09-24 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book tells the story of how the convergence between corporate sustainability and sustainable investing is now becoming a major force driving systemic market changes. The idea and practice of corporate sustainability is no longer a niche movement. Investors are increasingly paying attention to sustainability factors in their analysis and decision-making, thus reinforcing market transformation. In this book, high-level practitioners and academic thought leaders, including contributions from John Ruggie, Fiona Reynolds, Johan Rockström, and Paul Polman, explain the forces behind these developments. The contributors highlight (a) that systemic market change is influenced by various contextual factors that impact how sustainable investing is perceived and practiced; (b) that the integration of ESG factors in investment decisions is impacting markets on a large scale and hence changes practices of major market players (e.g. pension funds); and (c) that technology and the increasing datafication of sustainability act as further accelerators of such change. The book goes beyond standard economic theory approaches to sustainable investing and emphasizes that capitalism founded on more real-world (complex) economics and cooperation can strengthen ESG integration. Aimed at both investment professionals and academics, this book gives the reader access to more practitioner-relevant information and it also discusses implementation issues. The reader will gain insights into how "mainstream" financial actors relate to sustainable investing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Abortion. Ukraine. Voting rights. Climate change. These are just a few of the issues that Fortune 500 CEOs addressed publicly in the past twelve months. Speaking Out: The New Rules of Business Leadership Communication defines the changing landscape of CEO communication at a time when corporate leaders are expected to navigate an increasing range of complex political and social issues. Skeptics have already dubbed this change the victory of "woke" politics over the corporate sector. Others warn CEOs about the "talking trap" of speaking out on every issue du jour. But these critiques overlook the need for corporate leaders to manage political and social risks. Chief executives whose only strategy is to avoid risk by saying nothing do so at their peril. The ultimate question is not just what leaders say, but what they do. Speaking Out provides case studies of leaders who have spoken out and backed words with action, as well as others who have had mixed records on accountability, failed to show progress on public commitments, or faced consequences for taking a stance. Speaking Out offers a new lens for understanding the difference between PR efforts that can be easily dismissed as spin and authentic communication that enhances credibility and trust"--

This book was released on 2022-11-30 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How Should We Think About Debt Capital Markets Today? ESG’s Effect On DCM is not the wonderful Great Gatsby or a Cinderella story; this book is a realistic perspective about the shaping of the capital markets in this day and age, debt capital markets transactions with an ESG component, sustainable finance banking deals, and trends that are developing in Europe and the US, in particular. Since the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference, since the COVID 19 pandemic the agenda for the public and private sector has changed, i.e., the much-established EU regulations on this topic and others developing in the EU and the US now, the tremendous performance of the leverage finance market recently, and the utilization of ESG companies’ investment grade debt and leveraged debt have led to other regions following in the same respect. We are evaluating the varying structures of ESG-linked debt used to raise capital (through various types of bonds and loans), causing a societal benefit due to this usage in the long and short runs, and how the changing trends due to these structures, through the ESG principles, for the banks, borrowers and lenders alike are hopefully aligned with what each stakeholder requires and profitability as well. Sonal Patney is a corporate and investment banker, has worked at many well regarded international and domestic banks, and a consultant having also worked on many short-term assignments in debt and equity capital markets, with early-stage disruptive technology companies, middle-market, and large corporate companies across diverse sectors, and on political consulting in Minnesota. Most notably, she is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs, and New York University, holding an MPA with a concentration in International Economic Policy and a BA in Political Science, respectively. Sonal loves to travel, is an avid networker (as such a member of a couple of international finance associations – Ellevate, the FENG, and FWA), a fluent Hindi speaker, a SCORE LI mentor, and currently, resides in Great Neck, Long Island. Download or read book The Downfall of the American Order written by Peter J. Katzenstein and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2022-05-15 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Downfall of the American Order? offers penetrating insight into the emerging global political economy at this moment of an increasingly chaotic world. For seventy-five years, the basic patterns of world politics and the contours of international economic activity took place in the shadow of American leadership and the institutions it designed—an order designed to avoid the horrors of previous eras, including, most poignantly, two world wars and the Great Depression. But all things must pass. The global financial crisis of 2008, the legacy of two long, losing wars, and the polarizing and tumultuous presidency of Donald Trump all suggest that global affairs have reached a turning point. The implications of this are profound. The contributors to this book cast their eyes back on the order that once was, and look ahead to what might follow. In dialogue with each other's appraisals and expectations, they differ in their assessments of the probable, ranging from a hollowed-out American primacy muddling through by default, to partial modifications of old institutions and practices at home and abroad, and to wholesale contestations and the search for new orders. Contributors: Rawi Abdelal, Sheri Berman, Mark Blyth, Francis J. Gavin, Peter A. Gourevitch, Ilene Grabel, Peter J. Katzenstein, Jonathan Kirshner, and John Gerard Ruggie
