This book was released on 2017-05-16 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Nature's Laws and the Making of Pictures Perspective is the art of projecting upon a flat surface the image of any object, situated at any distance, so that it may present to the eye the same appearance with regard to its surroundings as does the real object. It is an exact science, and the truth of its rules can be demonstrated to absolute certainty so they can no more be ignored than can the multiplica tion table or the propositions of Euclid. Yet it is a fact that many artists, just because they have never taken the trouble to learn how to use these rules of perspective, abuse the whole subject call it a one-eyed science tell you that it has nothing to do with Art and even go so far as to say that, if you have to use paper and pencil to prove your case, you must be wrong. Book On the Origin of the Laws of Nature Classic Reprint

Download or read book On the Origin of the Laws of Nature Classic Reprint written by Sir Edmund Beckett and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-12 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from On the Origin of the Laws of Nature This treatise is an extension of the 'Note on the Laws of Nature' at the end of the 6th edition of 'Astronomy without Mathematics, ' which at first related to Gravity alone. It also contains the substance of two lectures at the London Institution in 1878 and 9, which many persons wished to see printed. Some of the arguments are necessarily old, but were requisite to make the general argument complete as far as it goes. Possibly none of them may be new; for I never assume that anything is new merely because I have not seen it before or do not remember it. Nevertheless I believe that some of this reasoning will be new to most readers, if not to all, and that it is worth attending to. I have given it as concisely as possible, and with no more illustrations in any case than seemed necessary, out of the infinite number which nature affords, and of which a sufficient number may be read not only in Paley's 'Natural Theology' and the Bridgwater Treatises, but in many modern books which deny the only cause that will rationally account for their origin, as I have shown here. Book The Laws of Human Nature

Download or read book The Laws of Human Nature written by Robert Greene and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2018-10-23 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of The 48 Laws of Power comes the definitive new book on decoding the behavior of the people around you Robert Greene is a master guide for millions of readers, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves. We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose. Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defense.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Harmonies of Nature: Or the Unity of Creation Harmony is the universal law of Nature. Of all the number less forms of animals and plants that deck the surface of the globe, there is not one that is not perfectly fitted for its peculiar sphere. The configuration of our earth, and the physical laws that govern the waters and the atmosphere, are in complete unison with the wants of organic life; and suns and planets wander harmoniously through illimitable space. And as it now is, thus it ever has been; for the annals of our globe bear witness, throughout all the changes of the primeval world, to the concord which has constantly reigned between the physical condition of the earth and its inhabitants at each successive epoch. In the. Following pages I have endeavoured to point out some of the most striking examples of this fundamental truth, which so forcibly proclaims the unity of creation. May I have ac quitted myself of my task so as to strengthen my readers in the conviction that an all-wise and All-powerful Legislator has constantly presided over the destinies of the universe! Download or read book The 48 Laws of Power written by Robert Greene and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this multi-million-copy New York Times bestseller is the definitive manual for anyone interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control – from the author of The Laws of Human Nature. In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”). Every law, though, has one thing in common: an interest in total domination. In a bold and arresting two-color package, The 48 Laws of Power is ideal whether your aim is conquest, self-defense, or simply to understand the rules of the game.
