Il associe principalement cardiopathie congénitale, déficience du système immunitaire, dysmorphie faciale et insuffisance vélaire. D'importants troubles de la parole et du langage sont observés dans ce syndrome et il nous a paru intéressant de mettre en place une étude permettant de définir la nature de ces troubles du langage présentés par ces enfants. Cette étude a été réalisée sur une population de 8 enfants atteints par ce syndrome. L'objectif de cette étude est de déterminer la nature des troubles de la parole et du langage dans le syndrome de DiGeorge. L'hypernasalité est mise en avant comme étant le facteur principal du manque d'intelligibilité présenté par ces enfants. Notre hypothèse est que d'autres troubles de la parole participent au déficit d'intelligibilité chez ces enfants, notre but final étant de déterminer lesquels et dans quelle proportion. La rhinolalie ouverte est donc un symptôme constant en association avec le manque d'intelligibilité. Nos résultats montrent clairement que la fuite nasale ne peut pas, à elle seule, expliquer le manque d'intelligibilité. D'autres facteurs ont ainsi été pris en compte pour expliquer les troubles de parole et de langage. Les atteintes au niveau linguistique, an niveau de la compréhension sémantique et syntaxique et du raisonnement non verbal sont autant de causes qui concourent aux troubles du langage.
