Book What Beliefs Are Made From

Download or read book What Beliefs Are Made From written by Jonathan Leicester and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2016-08-10 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Beliefs Are Made From explores the nature and purpose of belief. The book describes several strange beliefs that have been shared by many members of whole communities. The intellectualistic, dispositional, feeling and eliminativist theories of belief are then examined critically. This is followed by a review of factors that can influence people in their beliefs. These include faulty use of evidence, unconscious reasoning biases, inability to withhold judgement, wishful thinking, prior beliefs, shared beliefs, personal experience, testimony, judgements about the source of testimony, personality, in-group psychology, emotions and feelings, language, symbolism, non-verbal communication, repetition, propaganda, mysticism, rumour, conspiracy theories, and illness. The book also covers beliefs of children and belief during dreaming. The regulation of inquiry by belief and disbelief is described. What Beliefs Are Made From is a useful reference for general readers interested in the philosophy of the mind, and the psychology of belief.

Book The Nature and Purpose of Reality

Download or read book The Nature and Purpose of Reality written by Gary O Nickolaus and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-10-04 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book attempts to interpret the nature of reality as it is concurrently described by quantum physics, but its concern is that which cannot be described with physics or mathematics, it is about the first fraction of a second after the big bang when all physics and mathematics breaks down, a big bang that was not a onetime occurrence but is rather an ongoing activity, it is about the Planck length and Planck time where no measurements can be taken, no observations can be made and deductive reasoning and subconscious awareness is our only means of understanding. It is about the dual nature of reality described in Quantum Physics and interpreted by Theology. It attempts to define how the finite and infinite combine to complete the purpose of the Absolute Reality of the Singularity. It attempts to describe the nature of reality as a mosaic in which all the concepts fit together to form an Absolute Reality that has meaning and that has purpose, where God is not an abstract principle or a separate being but is rather an integral part of the nature of Physics which is the nature of God. It attempts to explain the concepts that have been demonstrated by scientific experimentation in a way to match these observations with that which we have previously assigned to theology and God. All incorporated as the nature of existence and as such integral parts of Quantum Physics and Theology. Physics is the study of the nature of our spacetime; however, Quantum Physics describes limits beyond which our science and math have no meaning. The physics of spacetime is related to the physics of the finite. While our physics can only describe with certainty the nature of spacetime extrapolations can be made as to the nature of the quantum wave as it exists in the infinite Singularity. God cannot be separated from the physics for He is the Physics. He is the nature and purpose of reality. The dual nature of the universe demonstrated in quantum physics describes spacetime as a projection of the quantum probability wave. With the actualization of the probability wave into spacetime all that we know is created. How is this spacetime created? How does the creation of spacetime form the attributes of this universe? These are the questions Quantum Physic attempts to answer, but more importantly; what is the purpose of spacetime? and what is the function of conscious beings within that purpose? That question has been regulated to philosophy and theology, but the answers are demonstrated in physics.

Book excerpt: From the #1 New York Times-bestselling author of The 48 Laws of Power comes the definitive new book on decoding the behavior of the people around you Robert Greene is a master guide for millions of readers, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves. We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self-control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose. Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defense.

Book excerpt: Life has always been the most complex topic discussed by man, along with stories and theories of human existence and finding purpose. In both personal and profound ways, the meaning of life is revealed in a clear yet comprehensive way in each chapter of this book. Purpose is broken down and put in a way for man to understand that the turning of each of his experiences is not random nor blank; but there are principles and revelations in the details of all things on the codified scale of human life. There is no surer way of finding the meaning of life other than through art, history, scientific theory and in the very conception man is perfected.
