Book Studies Directed Toward the Synthesis of the B type Amphidinolide Natural Products Using Nickel catalyzed Reductive Couplings of Enynes and Carbonyl Compounds

Download or read book Studies Directed Toward the Synthesis of the B type Amphidinolide Natural Products Using Nickel catalyzed Reductive Couplings of Enynes and Carbonyl Compounds written by Andrew Michael Lauer and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress coupling of substrates, toward the total synthesis of amphidinolide B1 is described. The reductive 1,3-eynes and ketones was explored. It was found to work well with simple but failed to yield intermediates toward amphidinolide B1 [images] ... The coupling of 1,3-enyne and aldehyde fragments toward the synthesis of amphidinolides G3 and H4 is also described. The entire carbon skeleton of these natural products has been prepared from this coupling and a subsequent installation of a methyl group using an indium based reagent ... [images].

Book Studies Toward the Total Synthesis of Amphidinolide C

Download or read book Studies Toward the Total Synthesis of Amphidinolide C written by Robert H. Bates and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amphidinolide C is one of the most biologically potent members of the amphidinolide family of natural products. Detailed in this thesis are studies toward the total synthesis of this complex macrolide. Three distinct syntheses of the C(1)-C(9) fragment are described. The first generation synthesis involves a diastereoselective chelate-controlled [3+2]-annulation reaction to form the C(3)-C(6) trans tetrahydrofuran. The second generation approach takes advantage of the C(4) methyl substituent to induce diastereoselectivity in an intramolecular hetero-Michael cyclization to form the same tetrahydrofuran. The third generation incorporates a non-chelate-controlled [3+2]-annulation reaction to afford the cis tetrahydrofuran product, followed by a base-promoted epimerization to the desired trans tetrahydrofuran. This route was accomplished in fewer steps than the first generation synthesis. Also described are stereoselective syntheses of the C(18)-C(34) C(10)-C(26) fragments of amphidinolide C, and the C(10)-C(29) fragment of amphidinolide F, a closely related natural product. Finally, a clear plan for the completion of the total synthesis of amphidinolide C is presented.

Book Bioactive Marine Natural Products

Download or read book Bioactive Marine Natural Products written by Dewan S. Bhakuni and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-06-30 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bioactive Marine Natural Products is the first book available that covers all aspects of bioactive marine natural products. It fills the void in the literature for bioactive marine natural products. The book covers various aspects of marine natural products and it is hoped that all the major classes of bioactive compounds are included. Different classes of marine organisms and the separation and isolation techniques are discussed. The chemistry and biology of marine toxins, peptides, alkaloids, nucleosides and prostanoids are discussed in detail. Biological, toxicological and clinical evaluations are also dealt with to ensure that the book may be adopted at any stage by any practicing organic chemist or biologist, working in academia or in R and D divisions of pharmaceutical companies. Each chapter in the book includes an abstract to highlight the major points discussed in the text and concluding remarks are given. References to books, monographs, review articles and original papers are provided at the end of each chapter.

Download or read book Separation of Enantiomers written by Matthew H. Todd and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-05-06 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In one handy volume this handbook summarizes the most common synthetic methods for the separation of racemic mixtures, allowing an easy comparison of the different strategies described in the literature. Alongside classical methods, the authors also consider kinetic resolutions, dynamic kinetic resolutions, divergent reactions of a racemic mixture, and a number of "neglected" cases not covered elsewhere, such as the use of circularly polarized light, polymerizations, "ripening" processes, dynamic combinatorial chemistry, and several thermodynamic processes. The result is a thorough introduction to the field plus a long-needed, up-to-date overview of the chemical, biological, and physical methods and their applications. Newcomers to the field, students as well as experienced synthetic chemists will benefit from the highly didactic presentation: Every method is presented in detail, from relatively simple separation problems to advanced complex resolution methods.

Book excerpt: Underwater exploration is a fascinating activity because of the richness of sea life, the beautiful colors, and the contrast with terrestrial life. It can be done by diving or snorkeling -today there is fine equipment for diving and taking underwater pictures and, apart from being a source of pleasure, it forms the basis of modern ecological and behavioral marine studies. Diving is an emotional activity. The silence of the submarine world, only interrupted by breathing, has more than once evoked the monsters of the fabulous tales of my youth. Maybe because, although much time has elapsed since then, I still have a youth's ability to evaluate everything for the fascination it conveys. However, no more than that can be gained from underwater watehing. I am not saying that this is destined to be a futile exercise. Picasso watched sea urchins much in the same way while revealing their quintessence in his paintings at the Castle of Antibes. What I mean is that today marine life can also be viewed from the perspective of the natural products involved. This knowledge, subsequent to Picasso's time, adds much to the overall picture.
