These provisions also ensure that employee representatives, relevant public authorities and emergency services are also provided with access to relevant information. The assessment and control provisions require employers to identify hazardous substances in the workplace, make an assessment of those hazards which arise out of the work activity and then take appropriate action. The national model regulations require assessments to be done in consultation with employees and employee representatives so that the assessment is tailored to each workplace and appropriate controls are put in place. 1994.

Chronic pain and opioid use disorder both represent complex human conditions affecting millions of Americans and causing untold disability and loss of function.
