Book Continuous Quality Improvement Advancing Understanding of Design Application Impact and Evaluation of CQI Approaches

Download or read book Continuous Quality Improvement Advancing Understanding of Design Application Impact and Evaluation of CQI Approaches written by Ross Bailie and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2017-12-12 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) methods are increasingly widely used to bridge the gaps between the evidence base for best clinical practice, what actually happens in practice, and the achievement of better population health outcomes. Among a range of quality improvement strategies, CQI methods are characterised by iterative and ongoing use of specific processes to identify quality problems, develop solutions, and implement and evaluate changes. The application of CQI processes in health is evolving and evidence of their success continues to emerge. There is, however, a need to enhance understanding of how best to implement, scale-up and evaluate CQI programs for the purpose of improving quality of care and population health outcomes in different contexts. This research topic aims to attract articles that add to knowledge of useful approaches to tailoring CQI methods for different contexts or purposes, and for implementation, scale-up and evaluation of CQI interventions/programs.

Book Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention

Download or read book Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention written by Maurizio Pompili and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-12-19 with total page 1479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores suicide prevention perspectives from around the world, considering both professionals’ points of view as well as first-person accounts from suicidal individuals. Scholars around the globe have puzzled over what makes a person suicidal and what is in the minds of those individuals who die by suicide. Most often the focus is not on the motives for suicide, nor on the phenomenology of this act, but on what is found from small cohorts of suicidal individuals. This book offers a tentative synthesis of a complex phenomenon, and sheds some light on models of suicide that are less frequently encountered in the literature. Written by international experts, it makes a valuable contribution to the field of suicidology that appeals to a wide readership, from mental health professionals to researchers in suicidology and students.

Book Improving the Identification of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in Mainstream General Practice

Download or read book Improving the Identification of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in Mainstream General Practice written by Margaret Kelaher and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI), The Australian National University is delighted to publish this first stream of research funded by the Institute specifically targeting issues in the delivery of primary health care to Indigenous people. This research was commissioned by APHCRI from the Cooperative Research Centre for Aboriginal Health (CRCAH) in response to the APHCRI Research Advisory Board’s desire to help address an Indigenous Health Priority. Poor identification of Indigenous people in mainstream general practice has been identified in previous research as a significant barrier to uptake of Medicare items that may assist Indigenous people in the prevention of chronic illness. This research is, therefore, designed as a first step towards improved targeting of health initiatives such as health assessments for Indigenous people. As with previous research streams funded by APHCRI, this work involves the systematic review and synthesis of current knowledge, as well as the translation of that knowledge into innovative and comprehensive approaches that can provide a strong basis for primary health care policy development. The report provides an analysis of the effectiveness of pre-existing strategies that aim to support identification processes and makes recommendations for future action in this area and the likely costs of doing this." p. VII.

Book Social Determinants of Indigenous Health

Download or read book Social Determinants of Indigenous Health written by Bronwyn Carson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-07-16 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The opportunities and comfortable lifestyle available to most Australians have been denied to generations of Indigenous people. As a result some of Australia's original inhabitants suffer from what has been described as 'Fourth World' standards of health. This is out of place in a country that prides itself on egalitarianism and a fair go for all. Shifting the focus from individual behaviour, to the social and political circumstances that influence people's lives and ultimately their health, helps us to understand the origins of poor health. It can also guide action to bring about change. Social Determinants of Indigenous Health offers a systematic overview of the relationship between the social and political environment and health. Highly respected contributors from around Australia examine the long-term health impacts of the Indigenous experience of dispossession, colonial rule and racism. They also explore the role of factors such as poverty, class, community and social capital, education, employment and housing. They scrutinise the social dynamics of making policy for Indigenous Australians, and the interrelation between human rights and health. Finally, they outline a framework for effective health interventions, which take social factors into consideration. This is a groundbreaking work, developed in consultation with Indigenous health professionals and researchers. It is essential reading for anyone working in Indigenous health.
