Book National Dam Safety Program Grindstone Lost Muddy Creek Dam F 20 MO 11220 Grand Chariton Basin Daviess County Missouri Phase I Inspection Report

Download or read book National Dam Safety Program Grindstone Lost Muddy Creek Dam F 20 MO 11220 Grand Chariton Basin Daviess County Missouri Phase I Inspection Report written by Rey S. Decker and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grindstone-Lost-Muddy Creek Dam F-20 was inspected to make an assessment of the general conditions of the dam with respect to safety, based upon available data and visual inspection, in order to determine if the dam poses hazards to human life or property. In accordance with the guidelines and based on visual observation, the dam is classified as having a high potential for damage and loss of life. Failure would threaten life and property. The estimated damage zone extends approximately two (2) miles downstream of the dam. Within the damage zone are three dwellings, a garage, and a barn. Our inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the recommended guidelines for a small dam having a high hazard potential. Considering the small volume of water impounded and the downstream channel from the dam, one-half of the Probable Maximum Flood is the appropriate spillway design flood. The spillways will not pass the 100-year flood (1% probability flood, a flood having a one percent chance of being exceeded in any year) without overtopping the dam. The spillways will pass 24% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) is defined as the flood that may be expected from the most severe combination of critical meteorologic and hydrologic conditions that are reasonably possible in the region.

Book National Dam Safety Program Trenton Lower Lake Dam MO 10366 Grand Chariton Basin Grundy County Missouri Phase I Inspection Report

Download or read book National Dam Safety Program Trenton Lower Lake Dam MO 10366 Grand Chariton Basin Grundy County Missouri Phase I Inspection Report written by Rey S. Decker and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dam is an earth fill approximately 5700 feet in length with a maximum height of about 20 feet. The dam is constructed on three sides of a square and impounds discharges from Trenton Upper Lake. The reservoir covers about 105 acres of nearly level bottomland adjacent to the east side of Muddy Creek on the eastern outskirts of Trenton, Missouri. The spillway consists of an ungated concrete chute with an 8 foot bottom width. The spillway is located in the west leg of the dam some 700 feet north of the southwest corner of the dam. Our inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the recommended guidelines for an intermediate dam having a high hazard potential. The Probable Maximum Flood is the appropriate spillway design flood. The spillway will pass the 100-year flood (flood having a one percent chance of being exceeded in any year) without overtopping the dam. The spillway will pass 55% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam.

Book National Dam Safety Program Curt Lee Dam MO 10664 Grand Chariton Basin Gentry County Missouri Phase I Inspection Report

Download or read book National Dam Safety Program Curt Lee Dam MO 10664 Grand Chariton Basin Gentry County Missouri Phase I Inspection Report written by Rey S. Decker and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Curt Lee Dam was inspected by an interdisciplinary team of engineers. The purpose of the inspection was to make an assessment of the general condition of the dam with respect to safety, based upon available data and visual inspection, in order to determine if the dam poses hazards to human life or property. Our inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does not meet the criteria set forth in the recommended guidelines for a small dam having a high hazard potential. Considering the volume of water impounded, the large floodplain downstream, the three houses, and State Highway 85 downstream of the dam, one-half of the Probable Maximum Flood is the appropriate spillway design flood. The spillway will pass the 100 year flood (flood having a one percent chance of being exceeded in any year) without overtopping the dam. The spillway will pass 17% of the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) is defined as the flood that may be expected from the most severe combination of critical meteorologic and hydrologic conditions that are reasonably possible in the region.

Hoskins and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bethany New City Reservoir Dam was inspected by an interdisciplinary team of engineers. The purpose of the inspection was to make an assessment of the general condition of the dam with respect to safety, based upon available data and visual inspection, in order to determine if the dam poses hazards to human life or property. Our inspection and evaluation indicates that the spillway does meet the criteria set forth in the guidelines for a dam having the above size and hazard potential. The spillway will pass the Probable Maximum Flood without overtopping the dam. The Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) is defined as the flood that may be expected from the most severe combination of critical meteorologic and hydrologic conditions that are reasonably possible in the region. Additional deficiencies, in accordance with the guidelines, are the lack of seepage and stability analysis. These analyses should be obtained in the future. Other deficiencies visually observed by the inspection team were small trees and brush growing on the upstream embankment slope, some trees growing in the spillway channel and erosion of the spillway channel downstream from the sill.

This book was released on 1978 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Forest Lake Dam is located on Big Creek which is a tributary of the Chariton River, Adair County, Missouri. The main purpose of the dam is to impound water for use in a water supply system operated by the City of Kirksville, Missouri. The impounded water is released by means of the bottom outlet. The lake is also for recreational use. The following problems were observed which could affect the safety of the dam, or which will require maintenance within a reasonable period of time. Heavy brush and trees on the upstream and downstream embankment slope; Rodent activity on the downstream embankment slope; The seepage occurring at the right abutment contact and downstream of the toe of the embankment 500 feet north of the left abutment: Concrete erosion on the ogee spillway crest; A 3-foot by 3-foot hole on the right wall of the spillway channel 30 feet upstream of the spillway chute; Vegetation in the spillway channel between the ogee and the spillway chute, and Inability to operate the two 16-inch gate valves in the valve vault.
