Book Narrowband Jammer Suppression in Spread Spectrum System Using Saw Devices

Download or read book Narrowband Jammer Suppression in Spread Spectrum System Using Saw Devices written by L. B. Milstein and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of a binary spread spectrum PSK communication system operating in the presence of a sine wave jammer will be presented. The receiver will consist of a real time Fourier transformer followed by a filter designed to attenuate the interference. The output of this latter filter is inverse transformed and then put through a matched filter for final detection. The probability of error of this system will be derived and compared to that of a receiver employing just a matched filter (i.e., one that does not attempt any explicit filtering to remove the interferer). Book Narrowband Interference Suppression in Spread Spectrum Communication Systems

Download or read book Narrowband Interference Suppression in Spread Spectrum Communication Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of significant interest to the United States military is the ability of an enemy to deny or disrupt the operation of the Global Positioning System. To combat this threat the GPS JPO initiated the Tactical GPS AntiJam Technology project, which yielded a prototype Digital Excision Filter (DEF) to remove narrowband jammers. This research describes the work performed to get tht DEF hardware operational and extends the previous research performed in this area. Comdisco's Signal Processing Worksystem was used to examine the effect of the DEF on the probability of bit error. This research uses peak to average correlation value, probability of bit error, and percent jammer power removed to examine the performance of the DEF. Fourteen jamming scenarios are examined using CW, pulsed CW, and broadband noise jammers. The DEF effectively rejected all of the jammers except the broadband noise jammer. In scenarios other than the broadband noise jammer, the DEF removed over 98% of the jammer power. The bit error rate curves show that the DEF significantly enhanced the performance of the system in extreme jamming environments. The results presented in this research show that the DEF is a viable, robust option to remove narrowband interference.

Book Adaptive WCDMA

Download or read book Adaptive WCDMA written by Savo G. Glisic and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-07-25 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) is one type of multiple access system used in radio communication. Other multiple access methods include TDMA, FDMA, etc. WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) is the main air interface used for third generation mobile communication systems - UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) and is characterised by a wider band than CDMA. WCDMA uses a wider radio band than CDMA, which was used for 2G systems, and has a high transfer rate and increased system capacity and communication quality by statistical multiplexing, etc. WCDMA efficiently utilises the radio spectrum to provide a maximum data rate of 2 Mbit/s. Third generation mobile communication systems are scheduled for operational startup in Japan and Europe in 2001-2002. Applying high-speed data transfer and state-of-the-art radio terminal technology, third generations systems enable multimedia and are currently in the process of being standardised under 3GPP. Among the three types of system to be standardised (i.e. WCDMA, MC-CDMA, UTRA TDD), Japan and Europe will adopt WCDMA in a strategy to take the lead through superior service. This volume will cover the latest theoretical principles of WCDMA and explain why these principles are used in the standards. Starting with a general overview, the more advanced material is then gradually introduced providing an excellent roadmap for the reader. * Presents comprehensive coverage of the theoretical and practical aspects of WCDMA * Provides a detailed roadmap by presenting the material step-by-step for readers from differing backgrounds * Systematically presents the latest results in the field Ideal for Engineers, academics and postgraduate students involved in research and development, engineers involved in management and administration.

Book Interference Suppression for Spread Spectrum Signals Using Adaptive Beamforming and Adaptive Temporal Filter

Download or read book Interference Suppression for Spread Spectrum Signals Using Adaptive Beamforming and Adaptive Temporal Filter written by Wonjin Park and published by . This book was released on 1996-12-01 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interference and jamming signals are a serious concern in an operational military communication environment. This thesis examines the utility and performance of combining adaptive temporal filtering with adaptive spatial filtering (i.e. adaptive beamforming) to improve the signal-to-jammer ratio (SJR) in the presence of narrowband and wideband interference. Adaptive temporal filters are used for narrowband interference suppression while adaptive beamforming is used to suppress wideband interference signals. A procedure is presented for the design and implementation of a linear constraints minimum variance generalized sidelobe canceler (LCMV-GSC) beamformer. The adaptive beamformer processes the desired signal with unity gain while simultaneously and adaptively minimizing the output due to any undesired signal. Using the LCMV-GSC beamformer with a least mean squares (LMS) adaptive algorithm, it was shown that the tapped delay line (TDL) adaptive antenna array is more effective for the suppression of wideband jammer suppression than the linear array sensors (LAS) adaptive antenna array. Also a new technique for adaptive beamforming is presented which improves wideband interference suppression in a frequency-hopped environment. The output SJR improvement for the new technique compared to the conventional technique is as much as 15dB. Sometimes, multipath signals and jammers generated by a smart enemy are correlated with the desired signal which destroys the traditional beamformer's performance. After performing a spatial smoothing technique, adaptive beamforming can also be effective in suppressing the jamming signals that are highly correlated with the desired signal.

Book Jamming Signal Reduction in Spread Spectrum Systems

Download or read book Jamming Signal Reduction in Spread Spectrum Systems written by Maurice J Bouvier (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A phase-locked loop based narrowband jamming signal cancellation system was built and tested to experimentally determine the degree of cancellation achievable. A reduction of 28.5 db was obtained for CW jamming signals. This is considered to be an upper limit. A reduction of 11.5 db was obtained for an amplitude modulated jamming signal. It is felt that this can be increased to 15 - 20 db with additional envelope phase control circuitry. (Author).

Book Suppression of Narrowband Interference in Pseudo Noise Spread Spectrum Systems

Download or read book Suppression of Narrowband Interference in Pseudo Noise Spread Spectrum Systems written by John G. Proakis and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes results of an investigation of narrowband interference suppression in a pseudo-noise (PN) spread spectrum digital communication system in which the signal is also distorted by channel multipath and fading. Techniques for determining the coefficients of a linear, interference suppression filter are described, which are based on linear prediction and conventional spectral analysis methods. Numerical results are presented on the effectiveness of the linear filter in suppressing the interference. Error rate results, obtained via Monte Carlo simulation are presented for a receiver that employs interference suppression and equalization for a fading multipath channel. (Author).
