Human composition, when beautiful, can never compete with the heroic ardour, solemn majesty, and exquisitely touching pathos which characterize the volume of inspiration. The incidents are such as will find an echo in many a heart; and should one child of pride feel how inferior are rank and wealth to virtue - should one lonely Naomi receive comfort, and one daughter of misfortune, whose heart, like Ruth's, has been blighted in the spring time of life, derive solace from her reward, and be incited to toil up the steep and rugged path of duty, the writer will not regret the motive nor the deed.
