Book excerpt: Enjoy Kibbles and Bits, a literary sampler of excerpts from the first five published books of time travel series, THE FAIRIES SAGA. Get acquainted with the friends and family who travel through The Trees, the portal between the 18th and 21st centuries. Interact with the fictional characters of the popular time travel series LOST who just happen to be real. It all begins with NAKED IN THE WINTER WIND. A plump and perky concerned old lady falls off a cliff and winds up 230 years in the past, in a rejuvenated body, but without a memory. How and why did it happen? The answer is in here. Why is the sweet little 18th-century psychic girl called HA'PENNY JENNY? Who is good-looking Lord James Melbourne speaking with when he says, AYE, I AM A FAIRY? How did Marty Melbourne get the name of DANCES NAKED? The explanation is in here, it isn’t nasty, and will probably make you laugh…or groan. What is the secret of how Benji learned to become invisible? Why is he called 'the great big fairy'? What did he ‘barter’ to win a 6’4” slave woman? How did our 6’7” hero find out he has an Australian brother-in-law who was just as tall as he is in these chapters from THE GREAT BIG FAIRY Sample each book and develop a craving for the continuing stories of THE FAIRIES SAGA.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Snow Flowers is a rare study by one of the 1,300 Hungarian Jewish inmates who were "eased out" by the SS to Junkers Company to produce airplane parts in Markkleeberg, Germany. Working conditions and profits shed light on slave labor establishments. Describing prisoners' ways of coping, their spiritual world addresses the question of how it was possible to live in the camp. A recurring theme is the experience of the author and her teenage sister. The 250 French political resistance fighters in the camp shared the death march and the anguish of the Allied bombing. Russian soldiers bent on sexual exploitation were the first disappointment after liberation. Homecoming and life of the survivor are recounted in the concluding chapters. The eight years of research on this book was prompted by the query of a Markkleeberg school teacher. German archival documents, songs, diaries written in the camp, and the testimonies of 110 fellow survivors provide a collective and a personal narrative. The book is part of a traveling exhibit, "The Forgotten Women of Buchenwald." Dr. Stessel is a retired librarian from The New York Public Library.

But when Naseem, a writer, flees Syria for Germany, he sends Suleima the unfinished manuscript of his novel. To Suleima's surprise, she and the novel's protagonist are uncannily similar. As she reads, Suleima's past overwhelms her and she has no idea what to trust--Naseem's pages, her own memory, or nothing at all? Narrated in alternating chapters by Suleima and the mysterious woman portrayed in Naseem's novel, The Frightened Ones is a boundary-blurring, radical examination of the effects of oppression on one's sense of identity, the effects of collective trauma, and a moving window into life inside Assad's Syria.
