Book Nail A Coding Interview

Download or read book Nail A Coding Interview written by Grace Huang and published by Grace Huang. This book was released on 2022-04-04 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A tiny book about how candidates can outperform in coding interviews, from the lenses of interviewers By now, having practiced hundreds of coding questions on HackerRank and LeetCode for weeks, you must feel quite confident about the upcoming interview. After the interviewer gives the introduction and finally reveals the coding problem, the sense of nervousness starts to creep in within you. While you are internalizing the coding problem, for a split second, your mind gets lost. Now you don’t know where to start. Suddenly you also notice the 45-minute clock has been ticking, so your mind goes blank again. A well-prepared code interview has a bad start. I have been there, and I know that feeling. I have interviewed hundreds of software engineer candidates while working for big tech companies, and also hiring for my own company Roxy. I have interviewed new grads, industry veterans from Google, Amazon & Facebook, quantitative engineers from Hedge Funds, and indie entrepreneurs. After analyzing hundreds of interviews, I noticed that the same six steps, forming a mental framework, were often at work.

Book Uncertainty Modeling and Decision Making in Geotechnics

Download or read book Uncertainty Modeling and Decision Making in Geotechnics written by Kok-Kwang Phoon and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-12-11 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uncertainty, Modeling, and Decision Making in Geotechnics shows how uncertainty quantification and numerical modeling can complement each other to enhance decision-making in geotechnical practice, filling a critical gap in guiding practitioners to address uncertainties directly. The book helps practitioners acquire a working knowledge of geotechnical risk and reliability methods and guides them to use these methods wisely in conjunction with data and numerical modeling. In particular, it provides guidance on the selection of realistic statistics and a cost-effective, accessible method to address different design objectives, and for different problem settings, and illustrates the value of this to decision-making using realistic examples. Bringing together statistical characterization, reliability analysis, reliability-based design, probabilistic inverse analysis, and physical insights drawn from case studies, this reference guide from an international team of experts offers an excellent resource for state-of-the-practice uncertainty-informed geotechnical design for specialist practitioners and the research community.

Book Decision Making Process

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of the main methods and results in the formal study of the human decision-making process, as defined in a relatively wide sense. A key aim of the approach contained here is to try to break down barriers between various disciplines encompassed by this field, including psychology, economics and computer science. All these approaches have contributed to progress in this very important and much-studied topic in the past, but none have proved sufficient so far to define a complete understanding of the highly complex processes and outcomes. This book provides the reader with state-of-the-art coverage of the field, essentially forming a roadmap to the field of decision analysis. The first part of the book is devoted to basic concepts and techniques for representing and solving decision problems, ranging from operational research to artificial intelligence. Later chapters provide an extensive overview of the decision-making process under conditions of risk and uncertainty. Finally, there are chapters covering various approaches to multi-criteria decision-making. Each chapter is written by experts in the topic concerned, and contains an extensive bibliography for further reading and reference.

Book excerpt: This fascinating exposé provides sobering insights on how falsehoods and distortions can play a role in determining what issues wind up taking center stage in our culture. . . . you can help change the system.-Former Surgeon General C. Everett KoopWe're gonna nail 'em!That's the threat made against Eric Dezenhall's clients - usually corporations and well-known people - by aggressors trying to launch media-hyped smear campaigns and attacks because they feel they've been wronged, or just because they want publicity. From Pepsi and ValuJet to Michael Ovitz and Kathy Lee Gifford, businesses and celebrities today are finding themselves the front-line targets of attacks by the headline-seekers, the news media, corporate stalkers, disgruntled former employees, individuals looking for a few minutes of fame, and many others. And it's crisis managers like Dezenhall who step in to reduce the damage, fight the bad publicity, and sometimes even turn the wave of negative opinion on the attackers themselves.Nail 'Em! is an exploration of the personalities, conflicts, and motivations involved in such attacks and Dezenhall's unique communications approach to slowing, preventing, and reversing such situations. While illustrating that these attacks are not merely communications problems, but real conflicts that can only be stopped when the aggressor is placed in jeopardy, the author examines the psychology of the attacker, notorious recent cases, his personal experiences, facts versus falsehoods, the role of the news media, and the popularity of victims in contemporary America. Nail 'Em! lays out a blueprint for reclaiming the public's good favor while erasing the attacker's allegations.Eric Dezenhall is a founding partner of Nichols/Dezenhall, a Washington, DC firm that oversees hard news media relations, crises, and marketplace assaults. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he also served in Ronald Reagan's White House Office of Communications.

Book Nightingale Online Praxis and Prevention of Cyber Attacks

Download or read book Nightingale Online Praxis and Prevention of Cyber Attacks written by Dr. Mercy M. Popoola and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-13 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nightingale is best known for her work during the Crimean War, especially her praxis with promoting cleanliness, preventing infection, and publications about the relationship between hygiene and infections. Majority of the time, hackers cannot get to our computer and steal our information and disrupt our life or online learning process if the computer is not infected. Therefore, if we can use or transfer Nightingale zeal as a reformer and educator for infection control to the world of technology and online learning, we can fight computer virus and prevent our computer from virus infections, which can prevent cyber attacks from hackers. Praxis is a critical thinking process that can be applied to any daily decision-making process, such as deciding whether or not it is smart to download a free online program or click on an unknown link or lock computer to prevent our computer from being infected, just as Nightingale fought for years to prevent infections. For praxis to be experienced, we often start with a question such as "How do we get these two boards to stick together?" We then theorize on the different methods to use, such as incorporating glue, nails, etc. We make a final decision based on support, research, engineering, weight, and longevity, and we decide to use nails. We measure and remeasure the mark at which the nail will enter the wood. We choose the correct size of the nail, grab our hammer, and aim. With the hammer, we drive the nail into and through the wood. The process of selecting the nail and making the decision to hammer the nail is praxis.
