Book Mystical Medicine

Download or read book Mystical Medicine written by Warren Peters and published by TEACH Services, Inc.. This book was released on 2012-07-30 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today many people are becoming aware of the relationship that exists between the mind, body, and spirit for achieving total health. As a Christian physician with many years of traditional, humanistic, medical and surgical training, I began to awaken to the concept of the "whole man." I started to study books authored by Hans Selye, M.D., Nathan Pritikin, O. Carl Simonton, M.D., Rene Dubos, Norman Cousins and James Lynch. I even "dabbled" for the first time into Christian books like Ministry of Healing and Medical Ministry. I perceived a common thread of world brotherhood and min expansion which could solve the tension I felt in my materialistic and technocratic surgical world. Perhaps the practice of surgery did hold more challenge than just another bypass operation which, I knew from experience, merely postponed death, but did little to change the cause of the underlying disease condition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mystical Bedlam explores the social history of insanity of early seventeenth-century England by means of a detailed analysis of the records of Richard Napier, a clergyman and astrological physician, who treated over 2000 mentally disturbed patients between 1597 and 1634. Napier's clients were drawn from every social rank and his therapeutic techniques included all the types of psychological healing practised at the time. His vivid descriptions of his clients' afflictions and complaints illuminate the thoughts and feelings of ordinary people. This book goes beyond simply analysing mental disorder in a seventeenth-century astrological and medical practice. It reveals contemporary attitudes towards family life, describes the appeal of witchcraft and demonology to ordinary villagers, and explains the social and intellectual basis for the eclectic blend of scientific, magical, and religious therapies practised before the English Revolution. Not only is it a contribution to the history of medicine but also a survey of some of the darkest regions of the mental world of the English people of the seventeenth century.

Book Spirit Medicine

Download or read book Spirit Medicine written by Henry Barnard Wesselman and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rediscovery that each one of us can achieve the direct, transformative connection with the sacred realms lies right at the heart of the spiritual reawakening sweeping the Western world—a phenomenon explored by anthropologist Hank Wesselman, Ph.D., in his widely read book The Journey to the Sacred Garden. In Spirit Medicine, Dr. Wesselman is joined by his wife, transpersonal medical practitioner Jill Kuykendall, RPT., to present us with a cross-cultural consideration of illness, healing, and health care from the ancient wisdom of the traditional peoples. Spirit Medicine opens a window into a universal worldview that will help you: • understand the classic causes of illness—-an essential step in true healing; • work with the four levels of spiritual healing; • expand your connections to inner sources of wisdom and power; and • deepen your contacts with your helping spirits and healing masters. Spirit Medicine will provide you with the singular key to success that energy medicine by itself lacks. It will also provide you with a perspective derived from the Hawaiian kahuna tradition in which knowledge of the soul cluster, as well as the multileveled nature of reality, forms the foundation. Included is an experiential CD of shamanic drumming and rattling to be used with specific exercises and meditations designed to enhance your healing practice for yourself and others. Spirit Medicine reconsiders and reworks the time-tested techniques pioneered by the shamans of the indigenous peoples, providing nontribal Westerners with extraordinarily effective insights into healing and problem solving.

Book Chinese Magical Medicine

  • Pages : 418 pages

Download or read book Chinese Magical Medicine written by Michel Strickmann and published by Asian Religions and Cultures. This book was released on 2002 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Possibly the most profound and far-reaching effects of Buddhism on Chinese culture occurred at the level of practice in religious rituals designed to cure people of disease, demonic possession, and bad luck. A basic concern with healing characterizes the entire gamut of religious expression in East Asia. By concentrating on the medieval development of Chinese therapeutic ritual, the author discovers the origins of many surviving rituals across the social and doctrinal frontiers of Buddhism and Taoism, including transmission to persons outside the Buddhist or Taoist fold. The author describes and translates many classical Chinese liturgies, analyzes their structure, and seeks out nonliturgical sources to shed further light on the politics involved in specific performances. Unlike the few previous studies of related rituals, this book combines a scholar's understanding of structure and goals of these rites with a healthy suspicion of the practitioners' claims to uniqueness.

Book Charak Gita The Book Of Medicine and Mystical Healing

Download or read book Charak Gita The Book Of Medicine and Mystical Healing written by Lahiri Mahasaya and published by Ancient Kriya Yoga Mission. This book was released on 2014-09-22 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a scriptural commentary of Lahiri Mahasaya on Charak Gita, also known as Charak Samhita, The Book of Medicine and Mystical Healing. Everything is being performed by the influence of Prana, and without Prana nothing exists or manifests. All things are under the control of the desire of Prana and all actions, internal and external, are performed by the desire of Prana. The Iswara, or God, of all beings is Prana. Who is there as Lord of Prana except the Prana itself? So the Lord of Prana is worshiped by the Prana itself. One should do whatever is necessary to expand the Prana. Expanding the Prana is called Pranayama. Pranayama is the conviction of all intelligent people, and it is the substance of all scriptures. In fact, that is nothing except practicing Kebala Kriya. By Kriya practice this physical body gets nourishment. Therefore, one should practice Kriya everyday. Everything is established in Prana who is sheltered in this physical body. Be kind to yourself. Believe in the words of Guru and practice Kriya. Kriya practice keeps the body in good shape and in perfect health. After having practiced Kriya, the holding onto the After-effect-poise of Kriya is a certain and wonderful medicine. By this one sentence everything is told. Dissolving everything into One is called Shastra, or scripture. Pranayama is primary for all spiritual disciplines however many there are. Holding onto the After-effect-poise of Kriya is Rasa, the juice, or nectar : the juice of all juices. Every Kriyanwit tastes this juice at the After-effect-poise of Kriya, yet there is no juice there. Thereafter they are attuned to the state of addiction of Bliss. The application of medicine alone only treats the external (disease) and is thus a kind of throwing stones in the dark. Without the practice of Kriya the inner person cannot be realized. So a person cannot be healed by the application of medicine externally alone. Healing takes place by the practice of Omkar Kriyas, which are Kriyas of the Prana. In other words, the duty is to invite the mind to bathe in the mind itself. Without such Knowing, one cannot know the past, present and future condition of the patient. But if someone always practices those Omkar Kriyas, suddenly he realizes the state (past, present and future) of the patient. Thereafter, the application of medicine may cure the patient. People become ill or die due to the indisposition of the Prana. Everything is manifesting and will be and is established through Prana. Therefore, that Prana is in this body, and therefore one should take care of this body. Therefore, the information of whatever means are referred to in The Charak Gita to save the breath are hereby collected and distributed by a Kriyanwit.

Book Mystical Molecules

Download or read book Mystical Molecules written by Mona Lisa Schulz, MD, PHD and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2023-12-26 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A renowned medical intuitive shows how problems—even catastrophes—in your life or your health can chart a path to profound healing and transformation. Ten years ago, Dr. Mona Lisa Schulz died on the operating table. The surgeons who had been working to correct a spine deformity were suddenly working to bring their patient back to life. They succeeded—and when Mona Lisa came out of the OR, her mind and body were forever changed. Mystical Molecules is an eye-opening account of how suffering in mind or body can transform us at the deepest level, at the level of our biology, literally changing the tissues we’re made up of. Using a series of health catastrophes from her own life as a framework, Mona Lisa walks readers through the process of transformation at five distinct levels, which parallel five chakras beyond the bounds of the physical body, each one moving us a step closer to illumination. As she describes her own healing at each step, she offers readers a wealth of information about how they can move through similar struggles in their own lives using tools including nutrition, supplements, and spiritual practices. A detailed appendix offers an even deeper dive into the science of what’s taking place at each stage of transformation.

Book Mystic Healers Medicine Shows

Download or read book Mystic Healers Medicine Shows written by Gene Fowler and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the histories of the West are obsessed with the shoot-em-ups. But what about the patch-em-ups? Who had to deal with all that famous carnage? With all the bloodletting depicted by pop culture historians, it almost seems a miracle anyone survived to settle the West. Prior to World War II regular, or allopathic, physicians trained in mainstream medicine were often outnumbered by alternative practitioners--folk curers, herbalists, faith healers, homeopaths, patent medicine promoters, and medicine showmen. Mystic Healers and Medicine Shows profiles many of the most significant of these healers as well as a few other colorful regular doctors.

Book DMT The Spirit Molecule

Download or read book DMT The Spirit Molecule written by Rick Strassman and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2000-12-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A clinical psychiatrist explores the effects of DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. • A behind-the-scenes look at the cutting edge of psychedelic research. • Provides a unique scientific explanation for the phenomenon of alien abduction experiences. From 1990 to 1995 Dr. Rick Strassman conducted U.S. Government-approved and funded clinical research at the University of New Mexico in which he injected sixty volunteers with DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. His detailed account of those sessions is an extraordinarily riveting inquiry into the nature of the human mind and the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. DMT, a plant-derived chemical found in the psychedelic Amazon brew, ayahuasca, is also manufactured by the human brain. In Strassman's volunteers, it consistently produced near-death and mystical experiences. Many reported convincing encounters with intelligent nonhuman presences, aliens, angels, and spirits. Nearly all felt that the sessions were among the most profound experiences of their lives. Strassman's research connects DMT with the pineal gland, considered by Hindus to be the site of the seventh chakra and by Rene Descartes to be the seat of the soul. DMT: The Spirit Molecule makes the bold case that DMT, naturally released by the pineal gland, facilitates the soul's movement in and out of the body and is an integral part of the birth and death experiences, as well as the highest states of meditation and even sexual transcendence. Strassman also believes that "alien abduction experiences" are brought on by accidental releases of DMT. If used wisely, DMT could trigger a period of remarkable progress in the scientific exploration of the most mystical regions of the human mind and soul.
