Book excerpt: Marks story begins several years back when he ventured to a foreign country for unique career-building experiences. It is there he eventually met more and more like-minded individuals and someone who appeared extra special. This same-aged woman was on her game as she presented a convincing picture of virtue. Mark had no idea that he was about to become quite the victim of a high-functioning, proactively religious psychopath. Mark beautifully illustrated how counterintuitive his experiences with a psychopath were and goes in great depth to show how these abuser victim roles play out in real life encounters. This is interesting information that is often not included in other books on the same subject matter. In sharing how he figured his way through his extended encounter with a primary psychopath, he seeks to spread awareness which will help members of our global society identify psychopaths before they cause their applicable levels of damage. Join the author to educate yourself on the increasingly trending topic of psychopathy. There are many things Mark assists you in taking away from encounters with psychopaths and their influence on the world around us. Psychopathy is certainly a topic worth getting a grasp over. Look into this critically constructed book and youll be happy you did!

He would later come to realize that in order for transformation to take place in his life, he would have to go through some trials. He didn't want to change. He thought he was fine. Briant had to hit rock bottom and go through some real hard times and come to realize that it was the Lord who allowed all that he was going through. He was stripped down by God and lost everything, and God then had Briant's undivided attention. For when he committed his life to the Lord after being spiritually broken with no one to turn to, he was forever changed from the inside out. His testimony will inspire you to keep on moving forward in the midst of whatever you're faced with, for the Lord truly has a plan for all our lives. This is a true story of love, pain, suffering, loss, joy, and the awesome power of God showing up in the midst of everything that Briant faces. This book shows that life is a journey full of ups and downs. What we often perceive as a bad situation can be an opportunity for change and growth, but the key is "attitude and faith." Book The Prevention and Treatment of Missing Data in Clinical Trials

Download or read book The Prevention and Treatment of Missing Data in Clinical Trials written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2010-12-21 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Randomized clinical trials are the primary tool for evaluating new medical interventions. Randomization provides for a fair comparison between treatment and control groups, balancing out, on average, distributions of known and unknown factors among the participants. Unfortunately, these studies often lack a substantial percentage of data. This missing data reduces the benefit provided by the randomization and introduces potential biases in the comparison of the treatment groups. Missing data can arise for a variety of reasons, including the inability or unwillingness of participants to meet appointments for evaluation. And in some studies, some or all of data collection ceases when participants discontinue study treatment. Existing guidelines for the design and conduct of clinical trials, and the analysis of the resulting data, provide only limited advice on how to handle missing data. Thus, approaches to the analysis of data with an appreciable amount of missing values tend to be ad hoc and variable. The Prevention and Treatment of Missing Data in Clinical Trials concludes that a more principled approach to design and analysis in the presence of missing data is both needed and possible. Such an approach needs to focus on two critical elements: (1) careful design and conduct to limit the amount and impact of missing data and (2) analysis that makes full use of information on all randomized participants and is based on careful attention to the assumptions about the nature of the missing data underlying estimates of treatment effects. In addition to the highest priority recommendations, the book offers more detailed recommendations on the conduct of clinical trials and techniques for analysis of trial data.

Book Everything in Its Place

Download or read book Everything in Its Place written by Marc Summers and published by Tarcher. This book was released on 2000-10-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the time he was in the first grade, Marc Summers feared that if his bedroom wasn't perfectly neat and his shirts didn't hang exactly one-fourth of an inch apart in the closet, something terrible would befall his parents or himself. It wasn't until many years later that the source of his anxiety became clear: like an estimated 6 million Americans today, Summers suffers the effects of obsessive compulsive disorder. A frank and often hilarious narrative, Everything in Its Place tells the story of Summers's journey from compulsive room cleaner to family man, television celebrity, and Obsessive Compulsive Foundation spokesperson. Describing his struggle to maintain personal relationships and build a career, the ups and downs of being on medication, and what it's like to be compelled to straighten the fringes of a rug at two o'clock in the morning, here is a compellingly readable and ultimately uplifting memoir.
