Putting words down on paper made me acquire a sense of solace which in turn, came with a freedom of comfort. My collection of poems will resonate, with someone. Our voices were not made to be stifled and quieten down. They are made to be heard. Let us not be afraid of the dark to come into the light, let our dreams become reality, break our shackles, let us all rise like the phoenix from the ashes. This book is about the awareness of emotions in all aspects of our lives and learning how to find and explore our coping mechanisms. Moreover, not to be too afraid to discover our different ranges of inner moods. Therefore, look and seek help. Share our experiences, and capture each other's imaginations.About The Author: My name is Pauline Gilman nee Hanson, I was born in the parish of St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Unfortunately, my creative writing skills lay dormant until my late thirties when the love of writing started to energise me again.

Book excerpt: Poetry. LGBTQIA Studies. "This book is a record of my thinking and feeling during my mid-to-late-twenties. Like any record, it is incomplete and imperfect--I do not always identify with the speakers of these poems, even as I recognize their speech (and sometimes, their desires) as my own. I think of this collection as a bildungsroman of sorts: the story of a young poet coming to know, belatedly and with difficulty, the insufficiencies of the self as a subject and the lyric as a mode."--Jameson Fitzpatrick

This is a poetic journey of my personal transition - nothing more, nothing less. As a sapling turns into a tree, we too become an adult; receiving the gifts to bestow upon new life. We then shelter this new life, and gradually we let go. Just as a tree is weathered by time, we too go through a similar process, growing wiser in our years. Through this process we are made stronger. As a stronger person, we are better able to support the next generation. As the branches of a tree provide the nursery for its seeds to grow, we too are more equipped to share wisdom, to support our families and the community to which we belong.
