Book excerpt: A Gospel-Rich, Reproducible Model for Making Disciples as Jesus Intended Biblical discipleship emphasizes encouragement, repentance, and spiritual growth—essential parts of the Christian life. However, well-meaning believers often struggle to follow Jesus, unaware their views are too legalistic, licentious, or individualistic. How can churches and Christians develop a healthy, successful path to disciple-making? In this second edition of Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Jonathan Dodson presents an effective, Spirit-led model for sanctification. Reminding readers that real discipleship is imperfect yet transformational, Dodson encourages Christians to engage more authentically with others as they grow in faith. Drawing from his own failures and successes while following Jesus, Dodson defines discipleship, describes the heart of a disciple, and gives practical guidance for mentor and peer-based discipleship as Jesus intended. Revised and Expanded: Includes three new chapters and new illustrations Applicable: Shows how discipleship can be practical and gospel-centered Theological: Addresses the Holy Spirit's involvement in discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler: Author of The Explicit Gospel

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is probably the most widely read collection of daily readings from the Bible ever published, and it is presented in this edition in the words of The New International Version (North American Edition). For three generations, Daily Light on the Daily Path has been a classic religious work, and it has gone through a countless number of printings. It was compiled by the descendants of the London bookseller, Samuel Bagster. Bagster's grandson, Robert, who died in 1924, wrote of the origins of this book, "Daily Light on the Daily Path was prepared entirely within the family. Few are able to appreciate the heart-searching care with which every text was selected, the days, nay the weeks of changes, alterations and improvements, until at last each page was passed to the printer." Here are two selections of Bible readings for every day in the year -- for Morning and Evening.

Download or read book My Soul Longs for You written by Mathew Bartlett and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-01-15 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “My Soul Longs for You” contains 30 daily readings on the theme of the Christian’s longing and thirsting for more of God. Suitable for any time of year. Psalm 42: My God, I Thirst for You Day 1: Thirsting for God is Natural—and Necessary As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. (Psalm 42:1) What a beautiful picture from nature—a deer going down to the stream to drink. Nothing could be more natural than an animal’s desire to quench its thirst! It is equally as true for plants and humans as it is for the animals—water is essential for life. In Western countries, where most people have a reliable water supply connected to their homes, we have almost lost the understanding that without water, we die. But there are still many people in the majority world who travel great distances daily to find a source of water to survive. This helps us understand that the picture in this Psalm goes much deeper than mere thirst. The psalmist clearly saw that without God, he could not survive. God created everything in the beginning, and gives life to all living things. He breathed into Adam, who consequently became a living soul (Gen 2:7). Hence by nature, humankind cannot experience life without God. The tragedy of Adam’s disobedience in Eden was that humanity became separated from the source of its life, as sin broke our relationship with God. Jesus Christ came to forgive our sin, restore our relationship with God and reconnect us with the source of life. Thirsting for God is as natural—and necessary—as breathing! Prayer Lord, you created us in the beginning, and all life comes from you. We thank you for our Lord Jesus Christ, who has reconnected us with you, the source of true life. And we thank you for the desire that you have formed in our hearts, to continue to share that life with you. Our God, we thirst and long for you, and hunger to know you more. Amen.

Book Opting Out of the World s Economic SystemI Refuse to Participate

Download or read book Opting Out of the World s Economic SystemI Refuse to Participate written by Dr. Aaron D. McCall and published by PublishAmerica. This book was released on 2010-02-05 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter what the enemy throws at you, remember you are a foreigner here and your citizenship is in heaven. Whenever an American traveling abroad gets into trouble, he has a right to the services of the American Embassy and the right to invoke his citizenship. With that come courtesies that the foreign government must adhere to. Since we're citizens of heaven, we have the right to take refuge in the embassy of heaven, the church, and say, LORD HAVE MERCY. That's why I can declare today that I'm not going to participate in this world's recession. I declare to you that I am opting out. Because of the revelation of God's Word to us, we are placed in a position to be immune to economic conditions. All we have to do is “trust in God,” “believe in God,” “have faith” in God.

Book Raise your Praise All 365 Days

Download or read book Raise your Praise All 365 Days written by GERARD ASSEY and published by Gerard Assey. This book was released on 2021-03-18 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main reason we are here on earth is to give God pleasure. Revelation 4.11 says, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou has created all things, AND FOR THY PLEASURE THEY ARE AND WERE CREATED" The very breath that we breathe, belongs to HIM, so we need to give it back to HIM. David says in Psalm 34.1: "I will bless the Lord at all times; HIS praise shall continually be in my mouth" And even as an ageing king in Psalm 71, he writes: "My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long…I will praise you more and more" It is our only opportunity to give HIM the only food He enjoys- Praise and Worship- and this is the only thing you and I would be doing in heaven (no winning souls, no helping poor etc). So we may as well start now. And if we don't give HIM our praise, GOD says that HE would get the rocks to do it (How shameful- we who have HIS breath!) But why is praising God so difficult? Simply put, praise does not come naturally to most of us. We have to learn to praise. The very first reason I believe why we find it difficult is because we are just not accustomed to praising others, leave alone God. The second reason is that praise requires us to set ourselves aside and keep and think of God first- after all it is because of Him and for Him we live. And the third reason is that, in order to start praising, we need to change our pattern of life. We must take time to focus on God and His attributes. Therefore praising the Lord is not some kind of casual meaningless activity. Now what can praising God do to you? Praising God has the power to change our lives. Praise takes our mind off our own selves and helps us see who God is. It transforms the perspective from which we approach life and places us in the context of who God is. Praise helps us recognize God and His ability to impact our lives, and reminds us that He loves us and is deeply involved in every detail of our daily living. And here is something that can stir you up to praise HIM more. Psalm 67:3, 5, 6 says: "Let the people praise Thee, O God; Let all the people praise Thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase, and GOD, even our own GOD, shall bless us”. Note the word 'then' in vs. 6. Most times we want God to bless us, then, we would think of possibly praising HIM. But see what vs. 6 says, "THEN". In other words, you start praising HIM first in faith, even before you've received anything and THEN see HIM pour out HIS blessings, because GOD dwells in the midst of praise (Psalm 22.3). So I pray that this small but powerful book: ‘Raise your Praise all 365 Days’ will help you do just that. You will find 366 bible verses exclusively on praising God- one for every day of the year, including one for a leap year. You could use it as an everyday tool, by reading that day’s verse and reflecting on God’s Goodness, Greatness, Glory, Grace and His Gifts that He has blessed you with and all that you see around you- or you could just decide to use it completing all the 366 verses at one go. I pray that this will be a blessing to you in your times of private worship.
