Book My Hollywood Diary Classic Reprint

Download or read book My Hollywood Diary Classic Reprint written by Edgar Wallace and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-05-21 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from My Hollywood Diary When my husband's trip to Hollywood was at first discussed, it was our hope that I should be able to accompany him, but the illness of my little girl and business ties in London made it impossible for me to get away until February. This, then, was to be the first time for fifteen years that I should not be in the closest touch with all his activities. We had discussed this trip to Hollywood so many times and both realized the enormous possibilities that might materialize if his work there was successful, and though my husband was a prolific letter-writer, I wanted a more detailed account of his impressions than I should, in all probability, get from his more personal letters. It was, therefore, with the idea of keeping me posted of daily events that Edgar dictated this diary which was sent to me regularly every week while he was away, in addition to his per sonal letters. Book Hollywood Diaries

Download or read book Hollywood Diaries written by Morgana Welch and published by Xlibris. This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Description 2000 Hollywood Diaries, is the true, intimate, and sometimes disturbing diaries of Morgana Welch. The diaries begin in 1971 and mark the beginning of a young girl's search for reality and sense of self in a section of society that was anything but normal, Hollywood and Beverly Hills. The diaries reflect a way of life that would afford Morgana the pleasure and pain of living in the world of rock and roll. Hollywood Diaries takes you inside the world of a 1970s groupie. In the days before cell phones, you-tube, and myspace when you had to be face to face (fantastically lusciously face to face...) with the center of the rock-and-roll vortex. Hollywood Diaries will take you on a vicarious journey paying homage to the world of rock and roll, for better and worse. Her recollections are not steeped in rose colored hues that are tempting when addressing the escapades of youth. While great care has been taken to assure that some of the players are not marred by their past behavior, the events and life portrayed is as it happened, without judgment, and without regret. "You kept a very good diary. Everything in it is one hundred percent TRUE!!" - Chuck Ruff, Edgar Winter band. "The stories you told in your book brought back fond memories for me of the crazy fun times we had". Bill Lordan - Sly and the Family Stone, Robin Trower "I saw that 'infamous groupie' photo in Stephen Davis's Hammer of the Gods and always wondered who the girls were. You are a fine writer and I enjoy your voice a lot. I love hearing about the groupie heyday and I really admire how you manage to come across in your writings, insightful and warm. Others have glossed over the seedier sides that must surely have been there. You handle them with a terrific approach, without overdoing it for shock value. Thanks for sharing your stories; it's great to finally know who the pretty blonde girl in the middle is!" - Kerstin Exemplary reflective storytelling, the hooks revolving around musicians we all know, the central inspiration in the end though is one of the human spirit, survival and honesty. The flow of consciousness with its celebrity thread is arabesque, organic and finessed. - Shorty I thought it was excellent. An honest snapshot of amazing times that will probably never happen again. Have also just read Laurel Canyon, which features some of Morgana's story as well. I agree with some other posts on this site...Morgana should write a detailed account of her life. Wild and magical...and surviving was nothing short of a miracle! - Tony McGraw

Book Halfway to Hollywood Diaries 1980 1988

Download or read book Halfway to Hollywood Diaries 1980 1988 written by Michael Palin and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2011-03-15 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Kirkus Reviews Best Nonfiction of 2011 title The second volume of Michael Palin's diaries covers the bulk of the 1980s, a decade in which the ties binding the Pythons loosened—they made their last film Monty Pyton's Meaning of Life in 1983. For Michael, writing and acting took over much of his life, culminating in his appearances in A Fish Called Wanda, in which he played the hapless, stuttering Ken, and won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor. Halfway to Hollywood follows Palin's torturous trail through seven movies and ends with his final preparations for the documentary that was to change his life—Around the World in 80 Days. During these years he co-wrote and acted in Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits as well as spearing in Gilliam's follow-up success Brazil. Palin co-produced, wrote and played the lead in The Missionary opposite Maggie Smith, who also appeared with him in A Private Function, written by Alan Bennett. In television the decade was memorable for East of Ipswich, inspired his links with Suffolk. Such was his fame in the US, he was enticed into once again hosting the enormously popular show Saturday Night Live. He filmed one of the BBC's Great Railway Journeys as well as becoming chairman of the pressure group Transport 2000. His life with Helen and the family remains a constant, as the children enter their teens. Palin's joy of writing is evident once more in Halfway to Hollywood as he demonstrates his continuing sense of wonder at the world in which he finds himself. A world of screens large and small.

Download or read book Star Dust in Hollywood Classic Reprint written by Jan Gordon and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-23 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Star-Dust in Hollywood Jo's search for the bathroom was vain. We reached the club, at which we were to be the honoured guests, twenty minutes late, and not only unwashed, but visibly motor-soiled. Instead of accepting our formal introductions as nice celebri ties should, we dashed straight to the club lavatories and washed. The doctor's wife, a friend from our earlier visit, had to scrub Jo's neck down to the dress limit - there was no time in which to clean merely invisible areas. We then could hold out our newly cleansed hands to the half-famished members. Before entering the supper-room I examined our instruments to see if any strings had broken, but to my dismay found that the plectrum of Jo's laud had somehow been jerked from the case and was lost. The shops by now were all shut, but luck discovered in the building a beauty parlour, and in the beauty parlour an eyebrow-brush, like a small tooth-brush. Our performance was saved. Valentino kept a diary at this time, into which he faithfully recorded his thoughts whilst living the American dream, proving his naysayers back home in Italy wrong: “My Dream is coming true! From day to day, night to night, here and there, I am going to write down my impressions. I am going to put down on paper the things I think, the things I do, the people I meet, all of the sensations, pleasurable and profitable that are mine. I shall never go home, I said to myself, until I can go home somebody...”
