The schools Charles attended listed him as a transient child. His childhood ended at fourteen years of age. No, Friday night football games, no school dances, no girlfriends and did not go to the Prom which he found out the girl he adored was prom queen. He had to think and act like an adult to survive in the dangerous environment he was living in. When he was not fighting or running, he was begging for food at the grocery store. If not for his unending goal to return to Pueblo, Colorado to be with his girlfriend, Charles would not be alive to tell his story.
