Book My Precious Bobby

Download or read book My Precious Bobby written by Bad Bob and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-06-24 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: summary Gripping and emotional. That's exactly what you'll find as you read this book; every page will keep you wanting more. This is the kind of book you just can't put down, and I'm sure you're going to want to read it twice. This is a story of a sweet little boy who turned out to be a bad boy, although everyone knows right from wrong. I'm sure as you read through my book, you'll understand what went wrong. From the cover, you can see the sweet little kid that nobody ever looked out for. I can remember when I was about eight years old, walking around the neighborhood looking for a church to go to. It seems I was always alone and on my own, but that doesn't bother me anymore. Not having anyone to count on through the years has made me tough and hard. I guess you could even say hard-core through the years. I've had to learn everything on my own mostly out of necessity. If my car broke down, I fixed it. When the plumbing broke, I fixed it. In fact, there's really not much I can't do, even write a book. I got the idea to write my book from my picture on the cover of this book. I would sit and look at that picture, and the inscription on the bottom "My Precious Bobby," and I would think to myself, What a joke. Nobody ever treated me precious. Or how could so many crazy things happen to one person? So please sit back and enjoy.

Book C mon Papa

Book excerpt: Ryan Knighton's humorous and perceptive tales of fatherhood take us inside an unusual new family, one bound by its father's particular darkness and light. C'mon Papa is Ryan Knighton's heartbreaking and hilarious voyage through the first year of fatherhood. Becoming a father is a stressful, daunting rite of passage to be sure, but for a blind father, the fears are unimaginably heightened. Ryan will have to find novel ways to adapt to nearly every aspect of parenting: the most basic skills are nearly impossible to contemplate, let alone master. And how will Ryan get to know this pre-verbal bundle of coos and burps when he can't see her smile, or look into her eyes for hints of the person to come? But this is no pity party, and Ryan has no time for sentimentality. Tackling these hurdles with grace and humour, Ryan is determined to do his part - and this is where the fun starts. From holding his daughter as she wails into the night to their first nerve-wracking walk to the cafe, no activity between father and daughter is without its pitfalls. In his struggle to "see" Tess, Ryan reimagines the relationship between father and child during that first chaotic year.

Book I Am Duran

Download or read book I Am Duran written by Roberto Duran and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-09-20 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: They called him “Manos de Piedra”—Hands of Stone—and he was one of the greatest boxers of all time. Now Roberto Durán tells his unbelievable story: from the streets of Panama to being crowned one of the “Four Kings,” along with Hearns, Leonard, and Hagler, as he blazed a trail through the Golden Age of Boxing. Born into abject poverty, barely able to read or write, Durán quickly realized that his fists could both protect him on the streets and put food on the table. His reputation was established on the day when, for a bet, he knocked down a horse with a single punch. At the age of twenty-one, he claimed his first world title, against Ken Buchanan at Madison Square Garden. The legend of Manos de Piedra was born, but his most glorious moment was yet to come. In 1980, Durán delivered one of the greatest upsets in boxing history by defeating the previously unbeatable Sugar Ray Leonard. But greater fame brought greater distractions, and Durán’s endless partying took its toll before the two superstars faced each other again. Here, for the first time ever, Durán confronts the debacle of the rematch that entered sporting folklore, and the truth behind the moment he was heard to utter the infamous words “No más”—No more. Durán’s explosive performances in the ring were matched only by the volatility of his life outside it. He lurched from living like royalty to bankruptcy and, after being written off as a boxing also-ran, made a bloody, legendary comeback that gave his career the ultimate ending, and finally brought redemption. He came from nothing, and changed the world. I Am Durán is the autobiography of one of boxing’s most iconic legends.

Originating on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia, migrating to Mexico City, and evolving in Arizona's Barrio Viejo, Barrio Roots tells the story of the author's family in a fictionalized version based on his true history. Spanning two centuries and three countries, the family's storyline traverses Spain, Mexico, and the United States. Beginning in 1814, readers are drawn into a family complete with accomplishments and failures. Dive into running a profitable sugar cane business and see the subsequent in-family corruption and disillusion of the business. Experience the trauma of the unfortunate deaths of the husbands in the family lineage. Embrace real-life historical events, such as the US expansion into the West and the Great Depression, anti-Semitism, a rigid caste system, anti-Mexican sentiment, and social mobility -- all of which the author's family experienced. At the heart of the story are the women. Their stories are of virtue, courage, and commitment in the face of overwhelming odds. Experience how they learn to establish and run a business while raising children without the help of a husband. At a time when women were considered simple, they achieved their ambitious goals, marking a rewarding conclusion to generations of family strife.
