He has continued his family’s legacy of working in education by serving as a Teacher for the Autauga Board of Education in Marbury, Alabama from 1967 – 1969. He worked for the Montgomery Board of Education from 1969 – 1998 in several capacities, including Teacher, Guidance Counselor, and School Administrator before retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Education. In addition to his impressive career, he has been honored with the Alabama Secondary School Principal of the Year Award in 1991, the Community Hero and Olympic Torchbearer in 1996, and he was named Chief Academic Officer for the State of Alabama from 1999 – 2004.
