Book excerpt: Book Description To Whom It May Concern: The Night Walker A Novel To Whom It May Concern: The Night Walker is a spin off story about FINN, the main character in the novel; F.I.N.N., which speaks about his traumatic early childhood sexual abuse (molestation) and consequent promiscuous experiences that resulted in psychological scars. The devastation of losing his parents in the opening of the story, triggered psychotic behaviours in him, causing his past trauma to be manifested in mental instability almost instantly. FINN sells his parents home and moves into an old house with an annex that is owned by his parents at a different neighbourhood somewhere east of the island of Trinidad. He opens a small haberdashery-type shop in the annex, which targets the new community of upscale residents and the old residents of the surrounding areas. His personality captivates everyone in a way that is remarkably caring. He befriends all of his patrons while interacting with them during the day but experiences memory loss when he falls asleep at night. He recognizes the need for psychological therapy and visits his doctor but holds fast to the fact that he has to get revenge for the death of his parents. To Whom It May Concern: The Night Walker has bouts of revenge, suspicion, mystery, and psycho-sexual intrigue. A tall black man who walks the streets of a newly developed neighbourhood (Conservation Heights) during the late hours of the evening and night leaves poster-like flyers or notes with the heading To Whom It May Concern and directions of where he could be found in an abandoned park that is part of the new neighbourhood. He is observed by three married women (housewives) that are married to three young urban professionals (university buddies) struggling to keep their business successful and highly recognized by the government and a same-gender loving (SGL) man (massage therapist) who is struggling with keeping a steady relationship. The three women and SGL man are friends within this newly developed neighbourhood, each of them live in very modern design homes. They became suspicious of the tall black man, particularly his physical structure and attire, which got them curious to know more about who he was, where he lives, where he goes and why he walks through the neighbourhood. They eventually were lured into a trap that caused their lives to change forever. The entire story is fictitious and is based in and around this newly developed neighbourhood and the suspicions that surround the tall black man and FINN who have similar attributes but completely different personalities. The story has been presented to mimic three steps towards achieving justice, according to FINNs psychotic thinking. These three steps combine is the structure of the novel in parts: Part 1 - Bills, is primarily setting the stage, planning to lure his victims into a trap that is pegged on sexual intrigue and mystery. Part 2 Acts, deal with the psycho-sexual interactions with his victims and altering the initial plan to ensure the end result is met, and Part 3 Laws, focuses on carrying out the detrimental and devious plan of action that will gain the revenge he needs for the lost of his parents without being caught. The story ends with the authorities being misleading, leaving them in total confusion and turmoil as to who committed the homicides.

Book excerpt: you put the weight of your world on my shoulders now i am too heavy to carry my own In loving and caring for others, sometimes we forget to love and care for ourselves too. As we navigate through life’s challenges and focus on others, we get further away from ourselves. The weight we bear threatens to crush us, to drive us further into the ground. And after heartbreak and loss, what’s left? Who is left? It’s in the grief that we feel isolated, disconnected from our true selves and powerless. But we’re not alone. to whom it may concern, sincerely, me is a poetry collection divided into three parts: depression, heartbreak, and self-love. These free verse poems illuminate the darkness of depression, expressing what is so often felt but left wordless, trapped inside of us. Poet Kyla Hawthorn explores the complexities of love by diving into her past relationships and heartbreaks with vulnerability and honesty. She unravels the inner turmoil between self-love and toxic love, between advocacy and complacency. These poems remind us that advocating for ourselves, living a life of authenticity, are important acts of self-love. More than poetry, to whom it may concern, sincerely, me is a collection of self-help affirmations that encourage us to take back our power. When we take back our power, we can shed the weight of toxic relationships and situationships in our lives. We can be our true selves.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a writer I mainly focus on relationships. All the perils concerned with becoming involved in and maintaining a relationship with the opposite sex. As women, are emotional creatures they sometimes feel that they must have an emotional relationship before beginning a sexual relationship. While men are usually, more visual and physical by nature. They are turned on by physical contact and visual stimuli, but women need so much more then that. Women need emotional and spiritual nurturing, while men tend to lack understanding in that area of womens needs. When the two come together, this tremendous lack of understanding causes an abundance of pain and heartache. Women are left feeling under-appreciated, neglected and unloved. Men on the other hand, usually dont understand what the problem is in the relationship. We often assume they will not understand; there is also a gap in communication, which furthers the stress we feel. As a writer I attempt to explain this pain and heartache that women so often go through because of these misunderstandings. But in the end, we MUST eventually turn to a real relationship with God in order to reach the fullest potential that life has to offer.

His fickle daughter Birendra is on the verge of marriage, his son Emile is studying curses (while falling in love with a fellow male grad student), and his younger daughter, Dorothy, who’s deaf, is working at a tattoo and body piercing parlour and collecting stories from the older men languishing at her local hangout. And because he’s confined to a wheelchair, Hardev is dependent on his homecare worker, the kleptomaniac Rodriguez, to help him devise a plan to keep house and home together. In this modern, multicultural re-telling of King Lear, Uppal explores the vulnerability and complexity of family and inheritance. She exposes the tragic and comedic dimensions of our failures to communicate and the consequences of our betrayals, which result in disappointment and disillusionment, but also, unexpectedly, in moments of compassion and love.

Book excerpt: To Whom it May Concern, I would like to request more information about the assistant job I saw advertised in Sunday’s newspaper with the six figure starting salary. I have a bachelors degree in English and many years of work experience and think I would be a good fit for the job. My questions are as follows: 1. What is the exact nature of the job? 2. Is it a strict requirement that I live with the boss? If so, can I have friends and others over? 3. The ad states there is a uniform. May I ask what sort of uniform? And why? Also, in lieu of sending a photograph, I’ve sent a picture of my very friendly dog that would also be joining me if I were to get the job. Yours Sincerely, Savannah Carter *** Ms. Carter, How do you know you’ll be a good fit for the job if you do not know the nature of the work? My ad specifically stated I was looking for an MBA grad, not an English grad that knows nothing about the real world. 1. This would be discussed in the interview. 2. Yes, you would be living with me. And no guests are allowed. 3. The uniform would be provided on your first day. You don’t need to know why. The job advertisement asked for a personal photo, is this your way of telling me you look like a dog? Today must be your lucky day because you’re the only person that responded to my ad. Are you available for a phone interview tomorrow? The Wade Hart This is book one of a duet. The second and final book is Return To Sender.

It is a thank-you letter to all mothers who chose to give life and permit their baby to be embraced and sheltered in the arms of another. My love for each and all of those who adopt is inexpressible. This letter is a tribute to my beloved parents with whom I grew old. This is a silent eulogy for the unborn--murdered because of an act of irresponsibility. Inasmuch as an epiphany, we have never been a part of our mother's body, just attached. Therefore, the termination of a child's life at any stage is not a moral issue, rather a criminal act. To Whom It May Concern is in part the voices of the unborn written by my mother's firstborn.

Book excerpt: Musical Characters: 7 male, 7 female (including pianist). Conceived by Carol Hall, who wrote the music and lyrics to The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, this joyful musical took Off Broadway by surprise. It is a tuneful, warm and witty observation of what really goes on in the hearts and minds of people as they participate in a church service. The ninety minutes of song, monologue and poetry require almost no set and only one piano. Done in a theatre or church sanctuary, To Whom It May Concern is perfect for all church and theatre groups, especially those with access to glorious voices. "A celebration ... Communities will be presenting To Whom It May Concern for years to come."-- N.Y. Times. "A melodic score and a joyous communal spirit which doesn't end until the house lights come up "-- A.P. "Witty, inspiring. It's applications are universal."-- N.Y. Daily News.

Book excerpt: The nine stories in this volume are each unique unto themselves but they all straddle the line between what we know and what we do not know, the material world and the spiritual one, what we hope for and what we fear most. The emphasis is on hope and our search for what is most beautiful within our world and within ourselves. Sarafina is about a man who must choose between heaven and hell. You might think the choice is an easy one until you appreciate the consequences. In A String of Bad Hands, a writer plays poker with the devil to save the soul of a woman he met in the Yucatan in their distant youth. Before the game is over, he will risk everything he has in the hope of winning everything he wants. From the Mirror is the narrative of a man who crosses the country looking for the other person we see in the mirror, the one we could have become or perhaps will be in the future. In the title entry, To Whom It May Concern, the inhabitants of a small island community discover that their world is sinking beneath the sea just as communication with the outside world comes to a halt. They never lose hope. These stories are about human resilience and limitless curiosity.
