  • Author : Michael L. Nelson
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2018-02-02

Download or read book Living by Choice written by Michael L. Nelson and published by . This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Living by Choice was written to help us better understand the power of our choices and that our choices not only define who we are today, but ultimately the type of person we turn out to be. The book is intended to help adults who want to make better choices in their lives, parents who are teaching choice-making skills to their children, and young people working to gain insight into how to develop their lives. The book stresses that each of us has the personal responsibility of managing our life and that we do so--effectively or otherwise--through the choices we make. The truth is . . . most of us are so busy with our daily routines that we seldom stop to think about what is required to manage our lives effectively. We tend to live our lives one day at a time without an overall strategy for how best to do so. Many of us live without a clear insight into how our choices define who we are and ultimately what we achieve. To bring this subject into greater focus . . . Living by Choice was written to motivate individuals, younger ones and older ones, to stop and consider the choices they are making in their lives. You will not find "the answers" here, and that was never the intention of the book. The ultimate answers about your life can only come from you. However, the book is intended to stimulate your thinking. Its basic objective is to help you think about your life and motivate you to make any choices needed to adjust the way you are living yours. To accomplish this, the book contains fourteen (14) sections including Managing Your Life, Being an Honest Person, and Creating a Caring You. Within these fourteen sections, the book addresses eighty-two (82) important choices that most of us face in life including The Choice to Be an Independent Thinker, The Choice to Let Love Guide Your Life, and The Choice to Respect Our Differences to name a few. Each choice topic provides a brief "thinking experience" . . . requiring only a few minutes to read but providing thoughts and perspectives the reader may want to ponder much longer. For those who want to make personal notes for later reference, space is provided at the end of each section. We are indeed "who we choose to be" and Living by Choice serves as an important reminder of this fact.

Download or read book We All Have Choices written by Laurie Delk and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-09-18 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We all go through many "roller coasters" in life. God kept convicting me to write a book after I lost Bryan, my husband of 20 years, father of my children in a tragic car wreck 2/2/13. I kept thinking & arguing with God, "What am I going to write about? What could I possibly teach people?" So many people I looked up to, in my business & my personal life, that I thought were much more qualified than me. But, anyone who knows, when God convicts you on something, you will "not win" if you choose to not do it, or try not to! :) Bryan used to always say, "I want to see you smile." I remember thinking one day, while I was crying, him looking down from Heaven saying this exact thing to me. The thought in my head, "He would not want me to be like this, & I am not being a good example to my children, nor others around me that might possibly look up to me." A lightbulb, a God moment - if you will - "You can smile, even through your tears". I thought that was going to be the title of my book. So i started writing, thinking about chapters, etc...Through much procrastination, & still yet arguing with God that there are many books out there & many others way more capable than me, over the next couple years, this word, this concept, kept popping into my head, "choices." We all have a choice to what we do in life, what we think, what we put in our mouths, what we say to ourself & to others, how we react-so many choices-We All Have Choices, & we can choose wisely or poorly, either way we will suffer or enjoy the consequences of those choices. The next few years of attempting to start writing this book, & making "choices" to put it off, saying to myself, I am too busy, I will start later, etc. If we want excuses, we can find them.In some ways, excuses can be challenges to God. After losing my husband, I didn't think I would have to deal with loss for a long time. 6 months after losing Bryan, I lost our family dog of 13 yrs. He was our sweet Boxer named Bullet. Then I lost my Grandfather, (my dad's dad) who I grew up staying at their house many weekends when I was little. March '14 comes along, we lost Bryan's father. He lived in our garage apt, we had cared for him for 15 years. My 28-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer in June of 2015, then in November 2015, my mother (who was also one of my best friends in life) was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. My daughter chose chemo plus natural things, was thankfully announced cancer free in December that year. My mother, unfortunately, we lost her in March 2016, 3 weeks before my parents 50th anniversary, huge surprise party my sisters & I had planned for them. Later in 2016, October, we lost my Bryan's Grandaddy (where my kids played on his farm & worked too, many days growing up). Most recently, his Granny Grace in July 2017.Yes, the past few years have been some of the craziest twist & turns life's roller coaster has to offer. Also the different shoes I have been given to walk through life in, & the choices of how we walk in those shoes, can make all the difference in the world. Each twist & turn & upside down moment is the opportunity to find an excuse or to find a reason. Excuses are made by those who are lazy or comfortable where they are. When we seek a true change, a true change in our mindset & in our lives, we find a reason to do it. That reason is our motivation.Instead of using all of the loss my family & I have experienced to not do something, I am seeing it as a way to impact others, to impact myself, to inspire. My choice in moving forward, in a thank you to Bryan, my Grandfather, Bryan's Grandaddy, my daughter, and my mother, as well as others, and a thank you for you also, choosing to believe in me, & making the choice to hear & read my story.Your choice is an inspiration. It is one that will inspire others. It is a choice of confidence ~ in yourself, taking the time for you, & confidence in what this book/story can offer to you.

Book Life It s All about Choices

Download or read book Life It s All about Choices written by Rls and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was born in the upper Northwest in a middle income, single worker family with loving parents and three great brothers. While growing up I quickly learned the importance that no matter what choices I made, I would have to be accountable for those choices. Finishing high school in Canon City, Colorado made me realize that I needed more education than my diploma could provide for me to be successful in my life. Working underground in a mine in Leadville, Colorado was very helpful in my decision to pursue further education. So back to school I went after a wonderful two year stay in Heilbronn, Germany thanks to Uncle Sam. It took me several years to complete my desired master's degree but it was well worth it. Needless to say I have made a large amount of bad choices in my life that have cost me emotionally and financially but I hope and pray that I have learned from those mistakes. Without a doubt I have made some great choices that have blessed me for many years. I am a human being so therefore along with the good comes the bad and as a young man I quickly learned that I had to own up to my choices. I am currently working in a psychiatric unit in New Mexico and am so grateful for and happy in my job. God has richly blessed me with my loving family who are the center of my life. An excellent choice on my part.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you desire to live your life to your greatest potential? Do you get in your own way because of fear of the unknown? I Am in Control is a book full of tools that I have used to overcome my struggles of self-doubt and self-worth. I realized that God's Word outlined everything I needed to understand the power I have within me, and I want you to understand that you pose that same power. We are people that are already equipped to do the things necessary to fulfill our purpose, yet so many of us do not live to see our greatest potential. Why? Because we doubt God. By doubting ourselves, we are doubting God's work. He tells us many times that we are already equipped. From birth, we were created with a plan. Our lives are not an accident but on purpose. We are not here to just exist. We are here to encourage. We are here to love. We are here to be evidence of God's existence. We are here to impact lives. We are here to do the work that God has assigned us to. I know that we don't always know what that work is initially. God has created us already equipped with a plan, so lean on those instincts that are within you, those gut pulls, those heavy desires on your heart, those visions that are constantly running in your head, those urges to do something amazing. Run with all of that. God has placed it in you. You must believe. You must act on those urges. You must move on those thoughts. You must have faith that God got you. You must know that you are equipped. You have to know that God makes no mistakes. You have to make the choice that you will walk in the promises that God has created for you. Through this book, I share my journey to this realization. I equip you with the tools I used to overcome myself. I pray that this helps you on your journey to living your best life.
