Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Carpet of the Rainbows is a lyrically narrated classic family saga replete with its own share of trials and tribulations, aspirations and achievements. It is a tale of three women of three generations; Lucie, Eva and Rosana and their boundless quest for elusive love and home, which is unique as well as universal. A wide range of well fleshed-out characters, from an American singer or a Portuguese soldier to a rustic, homeless Indian child-labour or a coin-eyed businessman, illuminates the stage. Even the time and space take part as characters. Golden Goa, dreamy Darjeeling, serene Shantiniketan and history of colonialism are intricately woven in the texture of the story. Travelling through a labyrinth of human emotions this charming novel unfurls the whole spectrum of human relationships and unravels the mystery of human characters, behaviours and definitely leaves a deep impact on the readers. Written with an astoundingly easy flow, the words waltz across the pages in a mesmerising style. There are sweet, smiling similes, metaphors, and sour, pungent pun or alliterations on every page. The narrating style of rewind and fast forward in Book 3 is quite unique. Soft shadows of lyrics and bright sparkles of one-liners (I was by his side, like the pause following a word. Notes make notables.) make the reading an enjoyable, unforgettable experience.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So you want to know what happens to you when you die. You want to know whether you go to heaven or hell, or do you just become consumed by total darkness and vanish from existence forever? Fine, then I will tell you. First, for all those people out there who think that when you’re dead, that’s it, finite, nothingness – this does not happen. How do I know this? Simple, I am dead. Touching the Rainbow tells the story of a young man, Pete, a victim of a dysfunctional childhood who is riddled with insecurity and self-doubt. He is not married, but has been engaged to his long-suffering girlfriend for 11 years. Suddenly, fate delivers a severe blow and he is killed in a car crash. To his horror, he becomes a trapped soul. His salvation arrives in the form of a celestial helper who tells him that it is all the emotional problems he suffered on earth that are keeping him from moving on. To free his soul, he must accomplish a mission that will force him to face up to all the fears and regrets he tried to shy away from when he was alive. However, in doing this, he also discovers some shocking revelations about his past – and a startling twist to the meaning of his former life... Touching the Rainbow has been inspired by the works of James Herbert; the simplistic yet realistic style of Herbert’s The Rats led Paul to emulate the same style. The book will appeal to fans of paranormal romance fiction – as well as readers with a deep sentimental core and a natural curiosity about the mysteries of life.

Book Dancing in the Rainbow

Download or read book Dancing in the Rainbow written by Stephen Preston and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-10-23 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The pages of this manuscript tell one man’s personal story, exploring the full range of human emotions that are symbolic of the masks of show business and depicting some classic and wonderful tales involving some legendary ladies from the world of entertainment. Through the eyes and heart of Stephen Preston, this lead dancer, singer, and actor makes the reader feel like they were there with Judy Garland at the Palace in New York, the Palladium in London, the Las Vegas stages with Betty Grable, Debbie Reynolds; some off-the-wall, hilarious escapades with Tallulah Bankhead, and an inside look at the social Me of Garland’s daughter, Lisa Minnelli. Mr. Preston, who performed with and became close friends with these major stars, gives you a first-hand look into the moments of joy, laughter, success and, yes, some tears and even failure. Written in a light, candid, and sometimes almost campy kind of style, this is the first time a book has come along that does not gossip about their failed marriages, sex lives or prey upon their human weaknesses! In fact, we see a side of these bigger-than-life performers that, in the past, little has been written or talked about The reader will come along on train and plane trips; be there backstage at Broadway, television, movie, and night club performances. They’ll sit with the Royal Family at the Palladium in London and will party at the Beverly Hills private homes of Hollywood celebrities. And the reader will even witness the final days of Betty Grable’s long, hard battle with cancer. “Dancing in the Rainbow" is a fascinating account of some of the days of their lives, including Stephen Preston’s. Those days are gone and so are some of the people, but the time spent is what can make life on this planet so very interesting and worthwhile! Mr. Preston is retired from show business but is an active business man and lives in Palm Springs, California.

Book Wander the Rainbow

Book excerpt: Seven months. Six continents. Twenty-nine countries. Some names changed to protect the (not-so) innocent. But everything else is true in Wander the Rainbow, a story of far-flung global exploration in the face of uniquely challenging life events. When David Jedeikin's partner of three years becomes critically ill, the only way to save him is to volunteer as his living liver donor. But this ultimate act of sharing doesn't rescue their relationship, which ends soon after with the couple on opposite coasts. Struggling to find perspective on these events, Jedeikin decides on a radical switch: he leaves everything behind--work, family, friends, even the beginnings of a new relationship--to embark on a seven-month trip around the world. What unfolds is a dazzling array of experiences across six continents. Traveling as a flashpacker--backpacking with creature comforts--Jedeikin blends visits to gay nightspots with straight-edge sightseeing; unearths family roots in Latvia, China, Italy, Israel, and South Africa; learns the legacy of the Jews of Prague and Rome; and finds romance with a sex club bartender in Berlin, a Brazilian in Tokyo, and an exchange student in Beijing. From Viennese party hostels to Parisian models to hallucinogens in Cambodia, Wander the Rainbow is what happens when a career professional trades convention for a one-of-a-kind walkabout around Planet Earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The distinguished Middle Eastern author Raja Alem grew up in Mecca at a time when the holy city was on the cusp of changing from medieval to modern. In this vanished Mecca, vividly brought to life again in My Thousand and One Nights, women hold center stage—especially Jummo, the wildly passionate daughter of the Water Carriers’ Sheik. This faraway time and setting become compellingly real as we follow the intimate drama of Jummo’s life, the tragic arc of her affair with her childhood sweetheart and her lifelong love for the mysterious Sidi Wadhana, a more-than-human emissary from the Netherworld. Jummo’s world, veiled and invisible to outsiders until this telling of her story, has the feel of the true center of an Arabia that has come to us in many exotic and threatening disguises. Jummo’s Mecca is a different world, with different narrative strategies, but the dramatic problems are universal: how lethal is love, how dangerous are woman? And how sensual is the yearning for immortality?
