Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are times we may wonder if our faith is enough. However, I found out that without my faith, my journey with cancer would have been so much more difficult. And to see how God worked during my journey was awesome, and my faith grew to greater heights. I suddenly realized that my story could help someone else who may be struggling with their faith or with their own journey. At the end of the day, I came to realize that God is always there for me and all those who believe in His name, Jesus Christ. It is a blessing to see how God is answering prayers even before we can say them. He knows our every need. The journey was not easy; there were times I couldn’t eat or could hardly get out of bed. I came to dread each week I had to go for treatment. I also knew that God would see me through. It took some time for me to recover from the emotional and physical scars of my cancer treatment. Trying to put my journey in writing was bittersweet. Reliving each day of my treatment was painful, and at the same time, I was overwhelmed with joy of God’s goodness and mercy. God had delivered me from cancer and brought me through one of the most difficult times of my life.

Book Why the Universe Is the Way It Is

Download or read book Why the Universe Is the Way It Is written by Hugh Ross and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2008-10-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasingly astronomers recognize that if the cosmos had not unfolded exactly as it did, humanity would not, could not, exist. Yet these researchers--along with countless ordinary folks--resist belief in the biblical Creator. Why? They say a loving God would have made a better home for us, one without trouble and tragedy. In Why the Universe Is the Way It Is, Hugh Ross draws from his depth of study in both science and Scripture to explain how the universe's design fulfills several distinct purposes. He also reveals God's surpassing love and ultimate purposes for each individual. Why the Universe Is the Way It Is will interest anyone who wonders where and how the universe came to be, what or who is responsible for it, why we are here, or how and when the universe ends. Far from leaving the reader at this philosophical jumping-off point, Ross builds toward answering the big question of human destiny and the specific question of each reader's personal destiny.

Book excerpt: How are we as Christians called to respond when cancer invades our lives, whether our own bodies or those of our friends and family? On the eve of his own cancer surgery, John Piper writes about cancer as an opportunity to glorify God. With pastoral sensitivity, compassion, and strength, Piper gently but firmly acknowledges that we can indeed waste our cancer when we don't see how it is God's good plan for us and a hope-filled path for making much of Jesus. Don't Waste Your Cancer is for anyone touched by a life-threatening illness. It first appeared as an appendix in Suffering and the Sovereignty of God. Repackaged and republished, it will serve as a hope-giving resource for healthcare workers, pastors, counselors, and others caring for those with cancer and other serious illnesses. The booklets are also available in packs of ten.

Book Why Cancer Is Not Bad Luck

Download or read book Why Cancer Is Not Bad Luck written by Ronald D Daves and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-06-29 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shares the great comfort of Gods grace that is found in dealing with the news of cancer, illness or even death. Paul speaks of this in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Paul tells us God is the God of comfort and mercy through all tribulations and He gives that same comfort and mercy to His own. Gods comfort and mercy is given to us so that we can share it with others. Within the pages of this book Ronald Daves shares Gods comfort and mercy with empathy and compassion to those suffering and in need of Gods comfort. He reveals the comfort he received in dealing with his own cancer and shares hope with those dealing with the news of cancer or illness in their own lives.

Book Hallelujah Anyway

Download or read book Hallelujah Anyway written by Anne Lamott and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-04-04 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Anne Lamott is my Oprah.” —Chicago Tribune The New York Times bestseller from the author of Dusk, Night, Dawn, Almost Everything and Bird by Bird, a powerful exploration of mercy and how we can embrace it. "Mercy is radical kindness," Anne Lamott writes in her enthralling and heartening book, Hallelujah Anyway. It's the permission you give others—and yourself—to forgive a debt, to absolve the unabsolvable, to let go of the judgment and pain that make life so difficult. In Hallelujah Anyway: Rediscovering Mercy Lamott ventures to explore where to find meaning in life. We should begin, she suggests, by "facing a great big mess, especially the great big mess of ourselves." It's up to each of us to recognize the presence and importance of mercy everywhere—"within us and outside us, all around us"—and to use it to forge a deeper understanding of ourselves and more honest connections with each other. While that can be difficult to do, Lamott argues that it's crucial, as "kindness towards others, beginning with myself, buys us a shot at a warm and generous heart, the greatest prize of all." Full of Lamott’s trademark honesty, humor and forthrightness, Hallelujah Anyway is profound and caring, funny and wise—a hopeful book of hands-on spirituality.

  • Pages : 159 pages

Download or read book Healing written by Mary Healy and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2015-10-23 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed." - Matthew 8:8 When we, or a family member or friend, are faced with an injury or illness, physical or emotional, our thoughts turn to God in prayer for healing. We want to believe, as the Centurion did, that God will grant healing, but we wonder. And if we as Catholics have doubts, what does this mean to a hurting world, also in need of healing? In her new book Healing: Bringing God's Gift of Mercy to the World, Mary Healy answers to these questions and more -- Is Jesus still healing people today? Are these healings real and do they last? How do we know if God wants us to pray for healing? Isn't God asking us to endure suffering and hardships instead of asking for healing? How can we pray for healing? Can my broken heart be healed as well as my body? Through the study of Catholic tradition, the lives of the saints, and ordinary people, you'll begin to understand how the message of inward healing is also a message that we as Catholics are empowered to take outward to the world.

Book excerpt: Things in themselves so supremely great, so far above man, so utterly above our perishable nature, as to be impossible for the race of rational mortals to grasp, as the will of God became possible in the immeasurable abundance of the Divine grace which streams forth from God upon men, through Jesus Christ the minister of His unsurpassable grace toward us, and through the cooperant Spirit. Thus, though it is a standing impossibility for human nature to acquire Wisdom, by which all things have been established—for all things, according to David, God made in wisdom—from being impossible it becomes possible through our Lord Jesus Christ, who was made for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. Book When God Cancer Meet

Download or read book When God Cancer Meet written by Lynn Eib and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2002 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book of powerful stories about cancer patients and their families who have been touched by God in miraculous ways—some in their bodies, others in their minds, all in their spirits—offers inspiring testimony that, when God and cancer meet, cancer is conquered. The author, herself a cancer survivor, gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse of 18 personal encounters with God. Here's what others are saying about When God & Cancer Meet: “Lynn has captured the essence of hope in this book; captured hope in ways that I have always taught in my professional world as well as in my spiritual community. This book is a treasure to those who struggle with the fears of cancer and I want to keep it close at hand for those reasons.” —Judy Lentz, RN, MSN, OCN, NHA Executive Director, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association “I co-lead a cancer support group at my church, and we have been looking for “just the right book” to study and discuss. Guess what?! Lyn wrote it! I was truly touched by all the stories; of course being a cancer-survivor myself, I saw myself in one of the stories, as if Lyn were writing my own personal story. I was truly impressed with the way she incorporated scripture, and God's viewpoint into every story. I think that is of utmost importance for anyone facing this disease. Lyn's book is “Real-Life”; some quickly are healed of the cancer, some deal with it over a prolonged period, some deal with recurrences, some, mercifully, die rather quickly. I share Lyn's belief that GOD sometimes chooses to heal in different ways: physically, emotionally and spiritually. In the process of surviving a primary brain tumor, surgery, Chemo, and radiation, I gave my life to Christ, realizing that my physical health was not GOD's main concern, my Spiritual health was the biggest victim of a disease that needed attention and this was the way He FINALLY got my attention. Lyn's book alludes to this fact in every one of her stories. In this day and age that we are living, where it is against the rules to even mention GOD ( unless we mention His name in vain) it is refreshing to have a book written, praising Him for His care and concern for us; written by a woman who has experienced the disease firsthand, and continues to minister to others with cancer, and to work for a Doctor! who isn't ashamed of his Faith ! WOW!! Obviously, Lyn's book has my highest reccomendation, and my support group will be purchasing multple copies, and we plan to invite Lyn to speak with us. Lyn is a wonderful person, and I thank God for allowing our paths to cross. I'm sure this book will touch many lives, and give many a new perspective and hope with their cancer.” —Chris Winand, cancer survivor
