Download or read book Therapist into Coach written by Julia Vaughan Smith and published by McGraw-Hill Education (UK). This book was released on 2006-12-16 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How does coaching differ from my current work as a therapist? If I became a coach, what additional skills and expertise might I need? What sorts of markets might I work in and what sort of income could I expect? What are the implications if I decided to run a mixed practice of coaching and therapy/counselling? This book is written for qualified and experienced psychological therapists who are interested in what coaching may have to offer their clients or their practice. It considers what coaching is, the routes by which people have become coaches, the coaching client, coaching methods and the issues within running a mixed practice. This includes a thorough exploration of the points of difference between therapeutic and coaching models, including the nature of interventions, mind set of the coach and the structuring of the process. Aspects of therapeutic models which are inappropriate for coaching are highlighted as well as the elements which add a richness to it. There are examples of dialogue between coach and client and short case studies throughout the book which illustrate the coaching process and exemplify the ‘voice of coaching’. Therapist into Coach provides key reading for psychotherapists, counsellors and psychologists who are thinking of widening the case mix of their practice, of moving into new markets or who want a different relationship with their clients. It will also help coaching trainers or coaching students understand the similarities and differences between coaching and counselling.

Book The Spiritual Emotional Coach s Guide

Download or read book The Spiritual Emotional Coach s Guide written by David R. Grimm and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2008-11-19 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Help Overcoming Painful Experiences (H.O.P.E.) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to help people experience a life transformation through their emotional pain so they can live the purpose-filled, victorious life God intended and designed them to live. We set people free from emotional bondage and empower them to live a transformed life. To accomplish our purpose, the H.O.P.E. program was designed to help people 1) resurrect hope, 2) overcome emotional pain from a variety of issues, 3) build a safe and healthy support network, 4) comprehend the truths about God in the midst of pain while exposing and replacing lies, and 5) experience a life transformation through the healing and restorative power of Jesus Christ. Our transformation model consists of three levels. The Spiritual & Emotional Coachs Guide is used in Level 2 when we pair our members with a Spiritual and Emotional Coach (SPEC). SPECs allow us to extend our ministry by providing additional support for our members through a one-on-one mentoring relationship outside their small group. The analogy used for our members need of a SPEC is that of a contractor who can help them with their emotional and spiritual construction. Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who follows the plan of the Architect (Jesus Christ) in their life and who can help them rebuild by doing the same thing. Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who can coach them using their own experiences with the spiritual and emotional rebuilding process. Therefore, this book was designed to empower and equip our SPECs by helping them realize and tap into the knowledge and tools available to them in this role. This book also contains a topical Scripture reference guide for convenient access to verses that can be applied to a variety of issues. In addition, this book was designed to help familiarize SPECs with our organization and what their member is going through.

Book Beyond a Whistle and a Prayer Transforming Lives Pursuing Excellence Honoring Jesus through Coaching

Download or read book Beyond a Whistle and a Prayer Transforming Lives Pursuing Excellence Honoring Jesus through Coaching written by Christopher M. Schrader, PhD. and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Beyond a Whistle and a Prayer will forever change the way you look at sports and coaching. Society advocates sports as a means to instill virtue and character in our youth. But we all know that the system is broken to a large extent - from youth sports through college, and beyond. Too many coaches and parents are driven by the scoreboard, the win-at-all costs model. Is it any wonder that 70%%%% of kids drop out of sports by age 12? Many of us remember the words and actions of coaches for a lifetime. What memories are you leaving with your athletes? Chris helps us make sense of why sports are broken and how they can be restored as a tool to positively impact lives. It all centers on coaches being transformed by biblical truths and implementing practical tools so they can field competitive teams while also loving their athletes well. Join the journey and learn to coach with joy." -Gilbert Tuhabonye: Author of This Voice in My Heart; 8-time NCAA All-American; Distance Running Coach

Book The assistant soccer coach

Download or read book The assistant soccer coach written by Denis Silva Puig and published by Wanceulen Editorial S.L.. This book was released on 2020-06-13 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The assistant soccer coach has existed for decades, and is a standard figure within the coaching staff, with specific roles, functions and responsibilities. However, I find it strange that nobody has yet described this profession formally. I used to only be a head coach, until one day I was proposed to be the assistant coach of U18 team of FC Barcelona. That is when I started thinking about writing this book, moved by my desire to continue learning. If I wanted to train in my new role I could only do it by asking others and observing training sessions. But I was missing one of the pillars that has forever supported my training: studying and reading. With this book I hope to cover that lack of information. The book is divided into two parts: the first is based on describing the assistant coach in professional soccer and I have not found a more practical way to do it than through interviews with assistant coaches. Each interviewee has contributed his experiences from working with the most recognized soccer coaches: I am talking about people who have worked with Vicente del Bosque, Ernesto Valverde, Luis Enrique, Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino, Sergio González, Quique Sánchez Flores, and Paulo Sousa. The second part of the book is related to Youth soccer, which I have experienced in clubs like Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona. I propose the role of the assistant coach working in Youth soccer to be more formative and educational than what is currently given, and I want to direct their effort towards two dimensions: the team's sporting performance (which the vast majority do) and the individualized analysis of the young player (which very few do). This second dimension is described in the last chapter, to demonstrate a new vision of assistant coaches in Youth soccer, who in my view have to dedicate their time to improving the players as an athlete and as a person in a more personalized and integral way.

Book Everywhere You Don t Belong

Download or read book Everywhere You Don t Belong written by Gabriel Bump and published by Algonquin Books. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A New York Times Book Review Notable Book of 2020 “A comically dark coming-of-age story about growing up on the South Side of Chicago, but it’s also social commentary at its finest, woven seamlessly into the work . . . Bump’s meditation on belonging and not belonging, where or with whom, how love is a way home no matter where you are, is handled so beautifully that you don’t know he’s hypnotized you until he’s done.” —Tommy Orange, The New York Times Book Review In this alternately witty and heartbreaking debut novel, Gabriel Bump gives us an unforgettable protagonist, Claude McKay Love. Claude isn’t dangerous or brilliant—he’s an average kid coping with abandonment, violence, riots, failed love, and societal pressures as he steers his way past the signposts of youth: childhood friendships, basketball tryouts, first love, first heartbreak, picking a college, moving away from home. Claude just wants a place where he can fit. As a young black man born on the South Side of Chicago, he is raised by his civil rights–era grandmother, who tries to shape him into a principled actor for change; yet when riots consume his neighborhood, he hesitates to take sides, unwilling to let race define his life. He decides to escape Chicago for another place, to go to college, to find a new identity, to leave the pressure cooker of his hometown behind. But as he discovers, he cannot; there is no safe haven for a young black man in this time and place called America. Percolating with fierceness and originality, attuned to the ironies inherent in our twenty-first-century landscape, Everywhere You Don’t Belong marks the arrival of a brilliant young talent.
