Book My Adopted Country Australia

Download or read book My Adopted Country Australia written by Erwin Feeken and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-02-20 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book begins with a chapter on homeland memories, followed by the authors and his wifes first experiences in Australia in 1954. For the first decade they moved from place to place, finally settling down in Canberra. These adventures are expressed in chapters on Tasmania, Darwin, a 15month stay in Canberra, Grafton, and finally Canberra again. The family, now with five daughters, settled in the National Capital where Mr Feeken became permanently employed as a draftsman and cartographer with the Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia). Being interested in Australian Exploration, the family travelled year after year, checking out explorers discoveries, culminating in the publication of The Discovery and Exploration of Australia in 1970. Afterwards, the family still travelled, year after year, the vast expanses of the Australian Continent, often checking out explorers routes. After the untimely death of Mrs Feeken in 2005, the author was encouraged by friends to write up this story. The fascination for travelling the outback continued into the next generation. In 2007, Mr Feeken travelled with his granddaughter Kiah around Australia and to the centre, covering nearly 30 000 km in 6 months.

Book excerpt: This is the inspiring story of Amor, a woman who despite growing up in an unstable home environment believing she was unworthy, unlovable and unwanted managed to survive her early home life, a move to Australia, her lack of education plus an unhappy marriage. After the break-up of her marriage, Amor began to seriously look at her spirituality and was introduced to the amazing book A Course in Miracles. At first because of her limited education, Amor had difficulty reading the book; however, after asking the Holy Spirit to help her she persevered and today she has incorporated its principles into her life. ACIM has taught me to look within for the answers for everything I need. I have learned to forgive myself, and to forgive others by focusing on love, and being honest with myself with everything that comes up in my mind. I believe everyone is a reflection of me, and treat them as I would like to be treated. Amor was guided to write and share her own story with no expectations of outcomes. She trusts that this book will assist others in similar circumstances to discover their own true natures and realize it is never too late to choose No More Wounds - Only Love.

Download or read book High Hopes written by Tony London and published by Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. This book was released on 2016-01-01 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High Hopes is the story of Tibetan education in India since the arrival of Tenzin Gyatso, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama in India in 1959. When His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in India, he came with his retinue and many thousands of followers who arrived soon after. Their arduous journey was to a country about which most of them were ignorant. They came as deeply committed Buddhists and with a positive belief in the future. Other than the monks and high officials, most of them had little or no formal education or experience. They arrived into a country which was still emerging and forming its own identity, and still reeling from the 'Partition' and all of the related changes that had taken place after the departure of the British 'Raj'. This relatively small group of Tibetans were strangers in the political landscape of the sub-continent, with its millions. Somehow Nehru and the Indians found a way to accommodate the Tibetans. This book traces that story and the way that the Tibetans in-exile have been able to forge their own unique Buddhist way of life and to incorporate that into their path for future.
