Book excerpt: *This book is part of a SERIES and NOT a standalone.A gripping, friends-to-lovers-to-enemies, dark romance.New York City-not for the faint-hearted or the sweetest of souls. The last thing I expected was to be back in this city, after all these years. And I definitely did not expect to be back in this house, where it all started. I have spent years avoiding this place, and the cold hard reality of what happened here. But I have no choice. We are all quarantined together in this house. It took the end of the world, for me to come back here and face him.Milo Sinclair.Once my legal guardian and savior in life. The person who saved me from drowning in loneliness. Who gave me everything I ever wanted. But then he took everything away from me. Plus interest. He broke me. He will not break me again. This is a dark forbidden romance. It contains discussions about the pandemic, mental health issues, mature new adults. It also contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive.Dark romance is subjective. Some readers have found this book to be a light read while others were sensitive to the material. Milo isn't a normal romance hero, and some might not consider him a hero at ALL. So, please don't read this if any of the above bothers you.Quarantined is book one of The Quarantine Series.

Book excerpt: This book is a product of quarantine. People from all over the US and beyond came together on a Facebook page and united. No politics. No negativity and NO corona. We supported each other, allowed only cooking and food to be on the page, and our page commanded over 34k people since 3/18/2020. This book is a compilation of 116 recipes that were submitted, photos, stories and dedications from the members of this page. The proceeds of our book will benefit a local charity (Stephen Siller Foundation/Tunnel to Towers Covid19 Heroes Fund) that is supporting front line heroes. This book will also serve as a piece of history. It will remind any one who purchases it that during a very dark time in our country's history there was that one group who stuck together and supported one another through cooking and meals for our families. It has been nothing short of amazing to have created this with my daughters and to now turn it into a much asked for book. We have many front line members/family who contributed to our book and the stories will reflect it. The feedback on this project has been amazing. People love it and so do we.

Download or read book Follow Me to Ground written by Sue Rainsford and published by Scribner. This book was released on 2020-01-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of Literary Hub’s Favorite Books of the Year A haunted, surreal debut novel about an otherworldly young woman, her father, and her lover that culminates in a shocking moment of betrayal—one that upends our understanding of power, predation, and agency. Ada and her father, touched by the power to heal illness, live on the edge of a village where they help sick locals—or “Cures”—by cracking open their damaged bodies or temporarily burying them in the reviving, dangerous Ground nearby. Ada, a being both more and less than human, is mostly uninterested in the Cures, until she meets a man named Samson. When they strike up an affair, to the displeasure of her father and Samson’s widowed, pregnant sister, Ada is torn between her old way of life and new possibilities with her lover—and eventually comes to a decision that will forever change Samson, the town, and the Ground itself. Follow Me to Ground is fascinating and frightening, urgent and propulsive. In Ada, award-winning author Sue Rainsford has created an utterly bewitching heroine, one who challenges conventional ideas of womanhood and the secrets of the body. Slim but authoritative, Follow Me to Ground lingers long after its final page, pulling the reader into a dream between fairy tale and nightmare, desire and delusion, folktale and warning.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book you will come to know my upbringing that details aspects of your son(s), brother(s) and nephew(s) life. An upbringing that maybe similar if not identical. This book tells the journey of a young teenager growing up on the eastside of Detroit. Poor, drug addicted Mother, an absent of a Father. Like so many of our Black youth today. An upbringing that pressured me into a life of drug selling. Then eventually an assault with intent to rob and assault with intent to murder. I was later captured and sent to the Michigan Department of Correction for 18.7 years of my life. This book will allow you into my 18.7 year journey as a prisoner. It will allow you to see the ups and downs and the good and bad that I had to struggle and cope with beginning at the age of 22. In the midst of a dark period in my life. I was able to find a life giving teaching that lead to my repentance from a criminal way of thinking. And the reformation of a criminal way of acting. The reader will see that there is an answer to the pain and struggles within our youth today. And that committing a crime, going in and out of prison, neither dying a premature death is not worth the value of their lives. If you are in prison then this book will let you see how I made it 18.7 years trouble free. I am one of those who was fortunate to make it out alive, well and with a sound mind. To let my young brothers and the world know. That its never too late to repent and reform, and to be a blessing to yourself, your Mother, your family and the world! --DONALD P. LONG

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Monkeys in My Garden: Reflections from a Life in Isolation is a daily journal written by a woman hunkered down with her two pubescent sons in a farmhouse overrun by monkeys. What must it be like for this woman separated from her husband and locked down at her parental home, having to navigate through complicated family dynamics, trying to create a positive bubble of existence for herself and her children? In pointing out similarities between people’s reactions to the present crisis and crises of the past, the writer shines a light on our collective human nature. She reflects on how populist leaders around the globe are mishandling the crisis in their respective nations. She reflects on dealing with social isolation and loneliness and ways of overcoming the destructive emotions they can stir. This book will give readers a sense of comradeship: to get a glimpse into a single person’s experience will remind every reader that, even if they’re living alone, they are not alone; we are all in this together. We are all struggling with our own demons and also the demon lurking at the gate.
