Book Forests and Forestry of West Bengal

Download or read book Forests and Forestry of West Bengal written by Gautam Kumar Das and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-01 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains several basic concepts of forests and forestry research like social distancing of trees, solitary trees, green infrastructure of trees including typical forest stands like pocket forests, forgotten forests, community forests, and social forestry from one forest stand to another scattered in the districts of West Bengal. In the field of forest floors, depleting status of the forests stimulates to find out different models of afforestation programme like tree-island and rescue forest strategy through plantation programme. Huge loss of tree canopy ravaged by the series of cyclonic storms particularly in the districts of South Bengal seems to be recovered by bioeconomic model with the implementation of social forestry schemes. Thoughts of such models incited the author to go through statistical analysis on different matters and parameters of the forest stands. Determination of physico-chemical parameters of the forest soil are carried on hand in hand with the identification of Alfisol profile exposures in the forest floors. For finding out the present status of forests, district-wise review is worked out. Though scattered in the format of the forest patches, forest stands in the Jungle Mahal are remarkably interesting for any surveyor or tree-lover. Because of the reasons, surveys in the specific forest lands like Joypur and Beliatore of Bankura district and Garh Jangal and Aduria Forests under Bardhaman Forest Division are given special impetus for statistical measures, soil properties analysis, and identification of vegetation pattern. All these salient features inspire the author to take an attempt disseminating information and related characteristics of the forests and forestry of West Bengal. Researchers and students will get sufficient material from this book to enrich their knowledge on the forest environment and the author believes that this book will act as the pioneer work for the flourishment and amelioration of the forestry of West Bengal.

Book Pride and Purpose

Download or read book Pride and Purpose written by Priya Somaiya and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-09-18 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our mental paradigm about leadership must shift, argues author Priya Somaiya, and Pride and Purpose achieves just that. It is a fascinating compilation of experiences and stories, and her tryst with leaders and leadership from all walks of life. Not all of leadership is about positional power and control. Rather, most of it silently and sensitively engages with building and transforming lives, organisations and society. The complex intersection and convergence of diverse personalities, skills, styles and qualities in leaders presented in various chapters of the book appear to impact human experiences in similar and yet diverse ways. Leaders influence thought and perception, aspiration and motivation. They earn respect and trust. They create resolute will and discipline and demonstrate working through failure and pain. Leaders interface hugely with time and the elusive framework of the future. They role model risk-taking and a lasting passion for learning. Dr Somaiya's work weaves all these dimensions together in a converging mosaic around leadership behaviours, which appear to strengthen the significantly important pillars around which all leadership devolves-the feeling of pride and the anchoring of purpose in life.

Book History of India Abroad

Download or read book History of India Abroad written by Sagar Simlandy and published by BFC Publications. This book was released on 2021-07-07 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indian history and culture are dynamic, spanning back to the beginning of human civilization. It began with a mysterious culture that flourished along the Indus River as well as among the farming communities in the southern lands of India. And the history of India is punctuated by constant integration of migrating people with the diverse cultures that surrounded India. Available evidence suggests that the use of iron, copper, and other metals was widely prevalent in the Indian sub-continent at a fairly early period, which is indicative of the progress that this part of the world had made by the end of the fourth millennium BC. History is the chronological study of the life and civilization of human beings. To develop linkage with the past and the present through continuous dialogues between the experience of past and that of the present is the fundamental mission of history. So, the historian E H Car aptly says that the great writing of history becomes successful only when the search done by the historians illuminates and involves it with the problems of present age. The tested truth is that achieving knowledge from the experience of history acts as constant in the different socio-economic and political contexts. But the approaches to studying history are continuously informed by the changing circumstances and consequently modified from time to time in keeping with the demands of time and space. New ideas and views develop in the present and futures times in the light of experiences of history.
