She has stage four pancreatic cancer, and doesn't have much time to live. Can Kelly find the killer before Julie's mother loses her battle with cancer, or for that matter, before Kelly herself becomes the killer's next victim."--Back cover.

Book The Coast to Coast Murders

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A detective and an FBI agent join forces on what seems like an open-and-shut case—but a new rash of killings sends them on a pulse-pounding race against time in this intense thriller. Michael and Megan Fitzgerald are siblings who share a terrifying past. Both adopted, and now grown—Michael is a long-haul truck driver, Megan a college student majoring in psychology—they trust each other before anyone else. They've had to. Their parents are public intellectuals, an Ivy League clinical psychologist and a renowned psychiatrist, and they brought up their adopted children in a rarefied, experimental environment. It sheltered them from the world's harsh realities, but it also forced secrets upon them, secrets they keep at all costs. In Los Angeles, Detective Garrett Dobbs and FBI Agent Jessica Gimble have joined forces to work a murder that seems like a dead cinch. Their chief suspect is quickly identified and apprehended—but then there's another killing just like the one they've been investigating. And another. And not just in Los Angeles—the spree spreads across the country. The Fitzgerald family comes to the investigators' attention, but Dobbs and Gimble are at a loss—if one of the four is involved, which Fitzgerald might it be? From coastal California to upstate New York, Dobbs and Gimble race against time and across state lines to stop an ingenious and deeply deranged killer—one whose dark and twisted appetites put them outside the range of logic or experience.

Book Who Shot Me Inside and Detailed Information About the Christopher Wallace Murder Investigation

Download or read book Who Shot Me Inside and Detailed Information About the Christopher Wallace Murder Investigation written by TJ Clemons and published by TJ Clemons. This book was released on with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lives of both Tupac Shakur (2pac) and Christopher Wallace (The Notorious B.I.G.) are as similar as they are different paradoxically. And they will forever be intertwined especially, when both their stories will continue to be sold and told dually together throughout the rest of history and eternity. And they can only be described as the proverbial yin and yang to one another. They were both raised by strong black mothers. Tupac was raised by the very wise and intelligent Afeni Shakur, while Christopher (Biggie Smalls) was reared by the very loving and affectionate Violetta Wallace. Both of their mothers were intricate and central parts of their lives, upbringings, and musical careers. And Afeni and Voletta were both left behind to pick up the pieces of their son’s musical businesses, careers, as well as their legacies, after they were tragically murdered in the streets by their assailants. Afeni and Voletta are two more grieving mothers of young black men who were victims of high-profile murders that both have yet to be solved as closed cold cases, and also in the court of public opinion. 2Pac and Biggie Smalls both grew up in poverty situations. Biggie had it a little bit better being that his mother was well-educated, and she ending up becoming a school teacher. 2pac experienced a very different struggle growing up and being raised in the Black Panther community. Although they were poor Afeni and 2pac were both well-educated and highly intelligent beings. The music industry can turn best friends into enemies. Sadly, 2pac and Biggie didn't get the chance or opportunity to get things right between the two of them before both of their untimely deaths, destructions, and demises. Neither one of them had their fathers in their lives to teach them how to be men and settle their differences and opinions like gentlemen. BIG did have the chance and opportunity to experience fatherhood for himself and if he had some more time, I believe that him and Tupac would have eventually squashed their media-driven and musical industry differences. They are both hip-hop legends and they will both continue to inspire and influence the masses as well as the rap music industry, culture, future, and community. 2pac and Biggie Smalls both believed that they would suffer untimely deaths and demises at a very young age. And both of their predictions, projections, and prophetic intuitions ended up becoming a very tragic reality.

Book excerpt: Death by Rum Running. . . It’s the hot and humid East Coast summer of 1930 and five years since Dr. Haley Higgins’ brother Joe was murdered. The case has grown cold. The Boston Police Department may have given up on finding Joe Higgins’ killer, but Haley never will. She’s serious and savvy and has what it takes to hold up under depressive times. At least she finds some satisfaction doing her part as the city pathologist’s assistant in solving other crimes. A man is found dead inside Boston’s oldest tavern—a “tea and coffee” house since prohibition became law. Another in a string of deaths related to underground rum running. Haley doesn’t care for nosy reporters, and Samantha Hawke is no exception. Demanding and presumptuous, Haley tries to stay clear of the ambitious Sam Hawke, but it turns out they may just need each other to solve this case without becoming the next victims.

Download or read book American Murder written by Gini Graham Scott JD, Ph.D and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2007-10-30 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: America has long had the reputation as the most violent and murderous of modern industrialized nations. Even while violent crime has dropped in recent years, our murder rate is still incredibly high. Since the beginning of the 20th century, our society has undergone profound changes. Our technologies have advanced, but the motives and methods for murder and escaping the long arm of the law have kept pace, often capitalizing on available technologies. In addition, as the century progressed, the media became an integral part of murder in America, helping investigations, glamorizing murder, and bringing it into our homes on a daily basis. Here, Scott examines the changing face of murder in the context of societal changes and traces the advances in investigative techniques and technologies. Each chapter offers vivid accounts of the most notorious and representative murders for each time period, focusing especially on those murderers who have had the edge on their pursuers, even escaping detection to this day. Beginning at the turn of the century, Scott details one of the most notorious cases of the day, in which a jealous woman poisoned the wife of her lover. The book ends with the still-unsolved Tupac Shakur murder case. Taking readers through the various developments in methods of murder, and the techniques used to capture the criminals, Scott provides a fascinating overview of the way murder has changed through the decades and how law enforcement has kept pace. This insightful book sheds light on both our fascination with murder and on murderers and their nemeses over the last one hundred years.

Book excerpt: New York Times bestselling author Faye Kellerman’s beloved Decker and Lazarus embark on a new life in upstate New York—and find themselves entangled in deception, intrigue, and murder in picturesque elite college town. As a detective lieutenant with the LAPD, Peter Decker witnessed enough ugliness and chaos for a lifetime. Now, he and his devoted wife Rina Lazarus are ready to enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where they can be closer to their four adult children and their foster son. But working for the Greenbury Police department isn’t as fulfilling as Decker hoped. While Rina has adapted beautifully to their new surroundings, Decker is underwhelmed and frustrated by his new partner, Tyler McAdams, a former Harvard student and young buck with a bad ‘tude. Just when he thinks he’s made a mistake, Decker is called to his first real crime here—a possible break-in at the local cemetery. At first, it seems like a false alarm until it’s discovered that a mausoleum’s stunning Tiffany panels have been replaced by forgeries. Then, a coed at one of the exclusive local colleges is brutally murdered. Poking into the hallowed halls of academia to find a killer, Decker and McAdams are drawn deep into a web of dark secrets, cold case crimes, international intrigue, and ruthless people who kill for sport. Suddenly, the job is anything but boring. This case just might be too much to handle and Decker will have to draw on every ounce of experience that he has garnered in the past thirty years as a Homicide cop. And then again, even that might not be enough!

Book Unsolved Western American Murders and Extended Cold Case Resolutions

Download or read book Unsolved Western American Murders and Extended Cold Case Resolutions written by Marques Vickers and published by Marquis Publishing. This book was released on 2020-07-18 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edition profiles 75 illustrated murder cases committed within California, Oregon, Washington, Northern Idaho and Montana. Accompanying photography returns the reader to the scene of the crime with precise listed locations. The most daunting dilemma of a murder investigation is typically uncovering proof beyond a reasonable doubt that a perpetrator committed a killing. The evolution of forensic technology has enabled investigators to match DNA profiles from evidence obtained at a crime scene with specific individual samplings. This development has resulted in several high profile cases ultimately achieving resolution. Some of the accompanying profiles have developed promising suspects and probable perpetrators, but lacked the tangible evidence or persuasive courtroom presentation to convict. In a few instances, due to the notoriety of the trial, the court of popular opinion did convict the defendant, yet they remain free of incarceration. Other cases have simply lacked accompanying evidence from the outset and subsequent clues or confessions have never materialized. For a victim’s immediate circle of family, acquaintances and even society in general, a lack of closure becomes an accompanying torment. Stolen lives deserve accountability and one cannot fully understand the enormity of loss without concrete explanations of motive. Given time, some of these cases may one day find closure. Some murderers do have a conscience and scientific advancements may one day piece together the fractured incoherency of inconclusive evidence. Book excerpt: Many decades before Ted Bundy roamed the country there was serial killer Earle Nelson. During the 1920s, this geographically mobile killer went from city to city. His modus operandi involved getting into a house by pretending to be a person looking for a room to rent or inspecting a house that was for sale, and then strangling the landlady, often followed by having sex with the dead body. Robbery was frequently a secondary motive. After Nelson was captured in Canada in 1927, it was commonly reported that he had killed 21 women and a baby during the 1926-27 period. But were these the only cases linked to him? The author examines an additional nine unsolved murders of landladies, two of which have never been dealt with in previous literature. Based on decades of archival research, the author examines all 31 murders, relying on primary sources when available and a wide variety of secondary sources. For each murder, the book provides biographical sketches of the victim, outlines the police investigation and the various suspects, and covers any subsequent attempts to link Nelson to the crime by identification evidence of witnesses or by fingerprints.

Book excerpt: Thrilling, true tales from the Vidocq Society, a team of the world's finest forensic investigators whose monthly gourmet lunches lead to justice in ice-cold murders Three of the greatest detectives in the world--a renowned FBI agent turned private eye, a sculptor and lothario who speaks to the dead, and an eccentric profiler known as "the living Sherlock Holmes"-were heartsick over the growing tide of unsolved murders. Good friends and sometime rivals William Fleisher, Frank Bender, and Richard Walter decided one day over lunch that something had to be done, and pledged themselves to a grand quest for justice. The three men invited the greatest collection of forensic investigators ever assembled, drawn from five continents, to the Downtown Club in Philadelphia to begin an audacious quest: to bring the coldest killers in the world to an accounting. Named for the first modern detective, the Parisian eugène François Vidocq-the flamboyant Napoleonic real-life sleuth who inspired Sherlock Holmes-the Vidocq Society meets monthly in its secretive chambers to solve a cold murder over a gourmet lunch. The Murder Room draws the reader into a chilling, darkly humorous, awe-inspiring world as the three partners travel far from their Victorian dining room to hunt the ruthless killers of a millionaire's son, a serial killer who carves off faces, and a child killer enjoying fifty years of freedom and dark fantasy. Acclaimed bestselling author Michael Capuzzo's brilliant storytelling brings true crime to life more realistically and vividly than it has ever been portrayed before. It is a world of dazzlingly bright forensic science; true evil as old as the Bible and dark as the pages of Dostoevsky; and a group of flawed, passionate men and women, inspired by their own wounded hearts to make a stand for truth, goodness, and justice in a world gone mad.
