Download or read book Multiuser receivers with optimal group detection for code division multiple access channels written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multiuser Detection provides the first comprehensive treatment of the subject of multiuser digital communications. Multiuser detection deals with demodulation of the mutually interfering digital streams of information that occur in areas such as wireless communications, high-speed data transmission, satellite communication, digital television, and magnetic recording. The development of multiuser detection techniques is one of the most important recent advances in communications technology, and this self-contained book gives a comprehensive coverage of the design and analysis of receivers for multiaccess channels, while focusing on fundamental models and algorithms. The author begins with a review of multiaccess communications, dealing in particular with code division multiple access (CDMA) channels. Background material on hypothesis testing and the effect of multiuser interference on single-user receivers are discussed next. This is followed by the design and analysis of optimum and linear multiuser detectors. Also covered in detail are topics such as decision-driven multiuser detection and noncoherent multiuser detection. The elements of multiuser detection are clearly and systematically presented along with more advanced recent results, some of which are published here for the first time. The extensive set of references and bibliographical notes offer a comprehensive account of the state of the art in the subject. The only prerequisites assumed are undergraduate-level probability, linear algebra, and introductory digital communications. The book contains over 300 exercises and is a suitable textbook for practicing engineers, as well as a valuable reference volume for researchers in communications and signal processing.

Book Coordinated Multiuser Communications

Download or read book Coordinated Multiuser Communications written by CHRISTIAN SCHLEGEL and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-07-10 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coordinated Multiuser Communications provides for the first time a unified treatment of multiuser detection and multiuser decoding in a single volume. Many communications systems, such as cellular mobile radio and wireless local area networks, are subject to multiple-access interference, caused by a multitude of users sharing a common transmission medium. The performance of receiver systems in such cases can be greatly improved by the application of joint detection and decoding methods. Multiuser detection and decoding not only improve system reliability and capacity, they also simplify the problem of resource allocation. Coordinated Multiuser Communications provides the reader with tools for the design and analysis of joint detection and joint decoding methods. These methods are developed within a unified framework of linear multiple-access channels, which includes code-division multiple-access, multiple antenna channels and orthogonal frequency division multiple access. Emphasis is placed on practical implementation aspects and modern iterative processing techniques for systems both with, and without integrated error control coding. Focusing on the theory and practice of unifying accessing and transmission aspects of communications, this book is a valuable reference for students, researchers and practicing engineers.

Book Singular Value Decomposition Techniques for Multiuser Detection Receivers microform

Download or read book Singular Value Decomposition Techniques for Multiuser Detection Receivers microform written by Sujit Sen and published by Library and Archives Canada = Bibliothèque et Archives Canada. This book was released on 2004 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designing multiuser detection (MUD) receivers with low complexity and near single-user performance has generated a great deal of interest in code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. This thesis proposes novel approaches, primarily based on the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), for designing multiuser detection receivers for CDMA systems with and without the use of multiple antennas. A new transmitter precoding scheme is proposed for the uplink of a single-input single-output (SISO) direct spread (DS) CDMA Rayleigh fading channel where non-orthogonal spreading codes are used. This technique is based on the SVD and can be analytically shown to achieve the single user bound. The application of the SVD to a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) DS-CDMA Rayleigh fading channel with forward error correction (FEC) codes is subsequently investigated. An iterative (turbo) multiuser detection algorithm is proposed for this MIMO multiple access system. The proposed MUD receiver is of low complexity when compared to the optimal MUD receiver and has near single-user performance in the presence of long-term power control. The salient feature of our iterative MIMO MUD receiver is that it combines SVD filtering, FEC coding and spreading codes. It is demonstrated that the proposed iterative MIMO MUD receiver can also be derived by applying the sum-product algorithm to the corresponding factor graph. The extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) chart analysis is shown to be accurate in studying the convergence behaviour and estimating the coded bit error rate (BER) for the iterative MIMO MUD receiver. A gear-shift MUD receiver is then introduced where the receiver is allowed to iteratively select a particular algorithm from a group of MUD algorithms in order to achieve a target performance level in the least amount of time.

This book was released on 2006-04-18 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During 12-15 of September 1999, 10th International Symposium on P- sonal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC’99) was held in Osaka Japan, and it was really a successful symposium that accommodated more than 600 participants from more than 30 countries and regions. PIMRC is really well organized annual symposium for wireless multimedia commu- cation systems, in which, various up-to-date topics are discussed in the invited talk, panel discussions and tutorial sessions. One of the unique features of the PIMRC is that PIMRC is continuing to publish, from Kluwer Academic Publishers since 1997, a book that collects the hottest topics discussed in PIMRC. In PIMRC’97, Invited talks were sum- rized in “Wireless Communications –TDMA versus CDMA – (ISBN 0-7923- 8005-3),” and it was published just beforePIMRC’97. This book was also distributed to all the PIMRC’97 participants as a part of proceedings for the conference. In PIMRC’98, extendedversion of the invited papers were s- marized in Wireless Multimedia Network Technologies (ISBN 0-7923-8633- 7) and published in September 1999, which is almost the same timing for the PIMRC’99. In the case of PIMRC’99, to produce more informative book, we have - lected topics that attracted many PIMRC’99 participants during the conf- ence, and invited prospective authors not only from the invited speakers but also from tutorial speakers, panel organizers, panelists, and some other exc- lent PIMRC’99 participants.

Book On Some Limiting Performance Issues of Multiuser Receivers in Fading Channels

Download or read book On Some Limiting Performance Issues of Multiuser Receivers in Fading Channels written by Dejan V. Djonin and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem of information-theoretic optimal resource allocation for the synchronous single-cell CDMA Gaussian multiple access channel is investigated. Several different cases are analyzed including: optimal sequence allocation without power control, optimal sequence allocation with optimal power control and optimal sequence allocation without power control with equal single user capacities. In order to simplify the mathematical description of the multiple access capacity region, a Cholesky decomposition characterization is introduced and utilized to find the optimal sequence allocation for equal single user capacities. The case of randomly chosen spreading sequences in a large system model, i.e. when number of users and processing gain increase without bounds while maintaining their ratio fixed, is also analyzed. Using this model, the performance of a conventional decision feedback receiver in flat fading channels is analyzed. A sequence allocation scheme that uses two sets of orthogonal users that can be decoded with a very simple decision feedback receiver is analyzed. It is shown that the spectral efficiency of this scheme is very close to the maximal possible. Finally, the issue of imperfect channel state information available at the receiver is discussed and the spectral efficiency loss compared to the perfect channel state information case is evaluated for the optimal multiuser receiver.
