Book Multiply Bonded Main Group Metals and Metalloids

Download or read book Multiply Bonded Main Group Metals and Metalloids written by Robert West and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume surveys major advances in the area of organometallic chemistry - the synthesis of stable, multiply bonded compounds of main group metals and metalloids. Notable advances occurred in this field in 1981, when the synthesis of stable compounds containing Si=C, Si=Si, and P-P multiple bonds were announced. Until these discoveries, organometallic chemistry had been limited by the double-bond rule, which asserted that elements outside the first row of the periodic table would not form stable multiple bonds. During the intervening 14 years, many other stable multiply bonded compounds have been discovered, and the field of organometallic chemistry has expanded as a result.

Book Advances in Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Advances in Organometallic Chemistry written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1996-02-12 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This widely acclaimed serial contains authoritative reviews that address all aspects of organometallic chemistry, a field which has expanded enormously since the publication of Volume 1 in 1964. Almost all branchesof chemistry now interface with organometallic chemistry--the study of compounds containing carbon metal bonds. Organometallic compounds range from species which are so reactive that they only have a transient existence at ambient temperatures to species which are thermally very stable. Organometallics are used extensively in the synthesis of useful compounds on both large and small scales. Industrial processes involving plastics, polymers, electronic materials, and pharmaceuticals all depend on advancements in organometallic chemistry. In basic research, organometallics have contributed inter alia to: Metal cluster chemistry Surface chemistry The stabilization of highly reactive species by metal coordination Chiral synthesis The formulation of multiple bonds between carbon and the other elements and between the elements themselves

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE textbook on organometallic chemistry. Comprehensive and up-to-date, the German original is already a classic, making this third completely revised and updated English edition a must for graduate students and lecturers in chemistry, inorganic chemists, chemists working with/on organometallics, bioinorganic chemists, complex chemists, and libraries. Over one third of the chapters have been expanded to incorporate developments since the previous editions, while the chapter on organometallic catalysis in synthesis and production appears for the first time in this form. From the reviews of the first English editions: 'The selection of material and the order of its presentation is first class ... Students and their instructors will find this book extraordinarily easy to use and extraordinarily useful.' -Chemistry in Britain 'Elschenbroich and Salzer have written the textbook of choice for graduate or senior-level courses that place an equal emphasis on main group element and transition metal organometallic chemistry. ... this book can be unequivocally recommended to any teacher or student of organometallic chemistry.' - Angewandte Chemie International Edition 'The breadth and depth of coverage are outstanding, and the excitement of synthetic organometallic chemistry comes across very strongly.' - Journal of the American Chemical Society

Book Cyclic Polymers

Download or read book Cyclic Polymers written by E.R. Semlyen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-11-30 with total page 820 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cyclic Polymers (Second Edition) reviews the many recent advances in this rapidly expanding subject since the publication of the first edition in 1986. The preparation, characterisation, properties and applications of a wide range of organic and inorganic cyclic oligomers and polymers are described in detail, together with many examples of catenanes and rotaxanes. The importance of large cyclics in biological chemistry and molecular biology is emphasised by a wide coverage of circular DNA, cyclic peptides and cyclic oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. Experimental techniques and theoretical aspects of cyclic polymers are included, as well as examples of their uses such as ring opening polymerisation reactions to give commercially important materials. This book covers a wide range of topics which should be of interest to many scientific research workers (for example, in polymer science, chemistry and molecular biology), as well as providing a reference text for undergraduate and graduate students.

Book Advanced Structural Inorganic Chemistry

Download or read book Advanced Structural Inorganic Chemistry written by Wai-Kee Li and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2008-03-27 with total page 848 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a revised and updated English edition of a textbook that has grown out of several years of teaching. The term "inorganic" is used in a broad sense as the book covers the structural chemistry of representative elements (including carbon) in the periodic table, organometallics, coordination polymers, host-guest systems and supramolecular assemblies. Part I of the book reviews the basic bonding theories, including a chapter on computational chemistry. Part II introduces point groups and space groups and their chemical applications. Part III comprises a succinct account of the structural chemistry of the elements in the periodic table. It presents structure and bonding, generalizations of structural trends, crystallographic data, as well as highlights from the recent literature.
