Book Multiple reference Adaptive Noise Control in Enclosures

Download or read book Multiple reference Adaptive Noise Control in Enclosures written by Zane M. Rhea and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To determine if the enclosed sound field from multiple noise sources can successfully be controlled with (1) a single reference input which contains information from only one primary noise source, (2) a single reference input which contains information from both primary sources, and (3) multiple reference inputs ; at frequencies on and off resonance for the structure and enclosed space. For each of these three control approaches, the practical significance and application are considered, along with effects of corruption of the reference signals.

Book Noise Reduction in Speech Applications

Download or read book Noise Reduction in Speech Applications written by Gillian M. Davis and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Noise and distortion that degrade the quality of speech signals can come from any number of sources. The technology and techniques for dealing with noise are almost as numerous, but it is only recently, with the development of inexpensive digital signal processing hardware, that the implementation of the technology has become practical. Noise Reduction in Speech Applications provides a comprehensive introduction to modern techniques for removing or reducing background noise from a range of speech-related applications. Self-contained, it starts with a tutorial-style chapter of background material, then focuses on system aspects, digital algorithms, and implementation. The final section explores a variety of applications and demonstrates to potential users of the technology the results possible with the noise reduction techniques presented. The book offers chapters contributed by international experts, a practical, systems approach, and numerous references. For electrical, acoustics, signal processing, communications, and bioengineers, Noise Reduction in Speech Applications is a valuable resource that shows you how to decide whether noise reduction will solve problems in your own systems and how to make the best use of the technologies available.

Book Understanding Active Noise Cancellation

Download or read book Understanding Active Noise Cancellation written by Colin N. Hansen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-05-03 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding Active Noise Cancellation Provides a concise introduction to the fundamentals and applications of active control of vibration and sound for the non-expert. It is also a useful quick reference for the specialist engineer. The book emphasises the practical applications of technology, and complex control algorithms and structures are only discussed to the extent that they aid understanding. Extensive recommendations for further reading on the subject are provided, but the text will stand alone for those seeking an overview of the key issues: fundamentals, control systems, transducers, applications and possible future directions.

Book Speech Enhancement Using Multiple Microphones

Download or read book Speech Enhancement Using Multiple Microphones written by William A. Harrison and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new application of Widrow's Adaptive Noise Cancelling (ANC) algorithm is presented. Specifically, the ambient environment is generalized to include the case where an acoustic barrier exists between the primary and reference microphones. By updating the coefficients of the noise estimation filter only during silence, it is shown that the ANC technique can provide substantial noise reduction with little speech distortion even when the acoustic barrier provides only moderate attenuation of acoustic signals. The use of the modified ANC method is evaluated using an oxygen facemask worn by fighter aircraft pilots. Experiments demonstrate that if a noise field is created using a single source, 11 dB signal-to-noise ratio improvement can be achieved by attaching the reference microphone to the exterior of the facemask. The length of the ANC filter required for this particular environment is only about 50 points long.
