Book Multidisciplinary Optimization Branch Experience Using ISIGHT Software

Download or read book Multidisciplinary Optimization Branch Experience Using ISIGHT Software written by S. L. Padula and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Multidisciplinary Optimization (MDO) Branch at NASA Langley is investigating frameworks for supporting multidisciplinary analysis and optimization research. A framework provides software and system services to integrate computational tasks and allows the researcher to concentrate more on the application and less on the programming details. A framework also provides a common working environment and a full range of optimization tools, and so increases the productivity of multidisciplinary research teams. Finally, a framework enables staff members to develop applications for use by disciplinary experts in other organizations. This year, the MDO Branch has gained experience with the iSIGHT framework. This paper describes experiences with four aerospace applications, including (1) reusable launch vehicle sizing, (2) aerospike nozzle design, (3) low-noise rotorcraft trajectories, and (4) acoustic liner design. Brief overviews of each problem are provided, including the number and type of disciplinary codes and computation time estimates. In addition, the optimization methods, objective functions, design variables, and constraints are described for each problem. For each case, discussions on the advantages and disadvantages of using the iSIGHT framework are provided as well as notes on the ease of use of various advanced features and suggestions for areas of improvement.

Book High Reliability Autonomous Management Systems for Spacecraft

Download or read book High Reliability Autonomous Management Systems for Spacecraft written by Jianjun Zhang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-08-22 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the autonomous management of spacecraft, which uses modern control technologies such as artificial intelligence to establish a remote intelligent body on the spacecraft so that the spacecraft can complete its flight tasks by itself. Its goal is to accurately perceive its own state and external environment without relying on external information injection and control, or rely on external control as little as possible, make various appropriate decisions based on this information and user tasks, and be able to autonomously control spacecraft to complete various tasks. - Divides the autonomous management level of spacecraft into two levels: - Basic autonomy to meet spacecraft health requirements, namely, autonomous health management, and autonomy of the advanced stage. - Divides the implementation of spacecraft autonomous management into three aspects: - Autonomous health management of spacecraft – the spacecraft can monitor and sense its own state and can autonomously detect, isolate, and recover from faults. - Autonomous mission management – the spacecraft can directly receive the mission, formulate a reasonable plan according to the current state and working environment of the spacecraft, and convert the mission into a specific sequence of instructions. - Spacecraft autonomous data management – the spacecraft processes a large amount of raw data and extracts useful information and autonomously executes or changes flight tasks. - The autonomous management model of the spacecraft is divided into two points: - Compatibility – the existing traditional control systems belong to the execution layer logic and are compatible with the existing systems. - Scalability – it adopts a layered structure, and each layer has different autonomous capabilities.

Book Computational Intelligence in Expensive Optimization Problems

Download or read book Computational Intelligence in Expensive Optimization Problems written by Yoel Tenne and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-10 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In modern science and engineering, laboratory experiments are replaced by high fidelity and computationally expensive simulations. Using such simulations reduces costs and shortens development times but introduces new challenges to design optimization process. Examples of such challenges include limited computational resource for simulation runs, complicated response surface of the simulation inputs-outputs, and etc. Under such difficulties, classical optimization and analysis methods may perform poorly. This motivates the application of computational intelligence methods such as evolutionary algorithms, neural networks and fuzzy logic, which often perform well in such settings. This is the first book to introduce the emerging field of computational intelligence in expensive optimization problems. Topics covered include: dedicated implementations of evolutionary algorithms, neural networks and fuzzy logic. reduction of expensive evaluations (modelling, variable-fidelity, fitness inheritance), frameworks for optimization (model management, complexity control, model selection), parallelization of algorithms (implementation issues on clusters, grids, parallel machines), incorporation of expert systems and human-system interface, single and multiobjective algorithms, data mining and statistical analysis, analysis of real-world cases (such as multidisciplinary design optimization). The edited book provides both theoretical treatments and real-world insights gained by experience, all contributed by leading researchers in the respective fields. As such, it is a comprehensive reference for researchers, practitioners, and advanced-level students interested in both the theory and practice of using computational intelligence for expensive optimization problems.

Book Satellite Photoelectric Sensing Technology

Download or read book Satellite Photoelectric Sensing Technology written by Jianjun Zhang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-30 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book helps to solve the problems and challenges of satellite sensing in the current environment of increasing communications bandwidths and multiplicity of electromagnetic signals. It presents technology that makes full use of the broadband low-loss advantages of optoelectronic technology and research into new broadband radio-frequency channelization and receiving technology based on photoelectric sensing. The methods presented allow improvements in system performance in terms of receiving bandwidth, frequency-sensing accuracy, channel equalization, adjacent channel crosstalk, dynamic range, and complexity of the system structure. In addressing the difficulty of satellite spectrum control, including the issue of high-precision and real-time wide-spectrum sensing not being able to be obtained simultaneously, the book solves the problem of accurate and parallel-decomposition sensing technology using the dual-phase optical frequency comb. This method avoids the involvement of fine filtering and does not require fine alignment between the source and the filter but achieves high perceptual accuracy. Satellite Photoelectric Sensing Technology explores the research background, significance, and current challenges associated with the technology, making it relevant and interesting to academics, practitioners, and postgraduate students in this field.
