Book Chronic A Sick Novel

Download or read book Chronic A Sick Novel written by Paul Lima and published by Paul Lima. This book was released on 2020-12-05 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chronic Readers React... "If this book were a movie, the cleaners would have to mop up buckets of tears. Of joy. Of laughter. And yes, of sadness. I'm lucky I had a box of tissues close by." "You cracked my heart, and then fixed it. Broke my heart, and then repaired it. Smashed my heart, but somehow left me feeling that it was fully mended." "I don't know if it's because I have MS, but I laughed, cheered, and cried. Sometimes all three in the same chapter." "You don't have to be sick to love this book." "I had to pause at the end of the final chapter, and have a good cry. Mostly tears of joy. Once composed, I read the epilogue. And damn it, if I was not in tears again." "As a cat lover, 'kitty' was my favorite part of a mighty fine book!" About the Book Paul and Deena are friends with MS and Parkinson's Disease respectively. They've found a wonderful flat renovated for people with disabilities, only they can't afford it. Enter Albert, a former nurse with cancer, and Bolton, an athletic paraplegic. They too look at the flat, and love it. But can't afford it. The solution? The four of them move in together. And life happens. Paul, who has retired from motivational speaking, is motivated into accepting another talk, while working on his painting. Bolton, a former sprinter, tries out for the wheelchair racing team and wheelchair basketball team, while setting up his web design business. Deena, a former PhD student, needs help with her renovation business. Instead of helping to heal people, which he did as a nurse, Albert begins to help Deena heal houses. Our main characters also have to sort out issues with former partners, some of whom have broken up on good terms and some on terms that were not so good, all while dealing with their maladies, and helping each other deal with their chronic issues. In short, illness does not make life, especially if you are determined to live as full a life as possible, despite your malady. And that is just what Paul, Deena, Albert and Bolton try their damnedest to do. About the author Paul Lima has had MS for over 20 years, moving from relapsing remitting MS to secondary progressive MS about five years ago. He has been a professional writer all his healthy and all his sick life. It's been more difficult when ill, but it has just meant he has had to work harder at it.

  • ISBN : 9780943875408

Download or read book Hotel Warriors written by John J. Fialka and published by Woodrow Wilson Center Press. This book was released on 1992-03 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, whose title refers to the correspondents who covered the Persian Gulf war from posh hotels in Riyadh and Dhahran, Wall Street Journal reporter Fialka ably chronicles the day-to-day difficulties faced by reporters - ranging from sheer incompetence to outright obstruction on the part of the U.S. Army - and demonstrates the woeful inadequacy of the pool system set up by the military and the press. In large part, he lambastes the Army for its refusal to accommodate journalists and its general attitude of hostility toward the press. (In contrast, the Marines' flair for self-promotion resulted in coverage more extensive than their military role in the war warranted.) Fialka attributes a good deal of this attitude to the military's lingering distrust of the media rooted in the Vietnam War experience. While there was little overt censorship, most of the material written and photographed during the Gulf war was never seen by the American public, and, Fialka says, the Army was shortchanged in accounts of its speedy victory. Most important, says Fialka, the acrimonious relationship between the military and the media bodes ill for future collaborations between the two.

We put our W3 system, Golden Bird, ́ and the decentralized algorithms in the Woke-Fed admin, and together with 3W blockchains free-market entrepreneur-happy 5G-America. Our company Landlords starts to set illegal immigrants in the REIT-LL mode, making small businesses via the Bronx center. Chaos is on the move, and the Golden Ratio shows its crypto signals. Victoria & I have our Courtly Luv Kiss, Leo (the dog) stays on my shoulder, Cliv, Frank ... mercenaries, gangs, and bankers pray and sing. The story starts when there was optimism at a TSA job fair in Flushing. And then arrive United Blood Nation boyz, 1-8 Trey (183) Gangstas (aka Diamond Gee, Donald Gee), Gangsta Miller Bloods, Nine Trey Gangstas (NTG) boyz Billy BadAss, M.O.N., and so. You know, Dominicans don ́t play stuff. Omicron conquers the air after Delta. Well, Biden is happy, the Dems are happy, illegal immigrants and gangs and drug dealers are happy, but you know what, AOC & her set and the bunch of the Dems may be happy, too, but NYC approves now hundreds of thousands of illegal acts as legal, and it means welcome poor illegal immigrants, trappers, hoes, pimps and Amor del Rey, justice to the people, power to the Kings. Big fights with gangs, destroying their lab, hearing too much broken Spanish. There are 4 e-thugz who think that the Bronx is in the middle of the world, and they are woggas. And there lol all deadbeat baby daddies, robbos, socialistbrandons, xiiitts, stir-fried nitwits, and common sh***s, too. The true battle with/against Brandon and Wokes starts at the Dems ́ Christmas party, when I tell them that "y can be our great choir, and we start with May Your Days be Merry and Bright and May Your All Christmas be WHITE". The epic screen takes readers all over NYC, shows bums and parks, and rich and poor. We go to the Supreme Court & the FBI house. The southern borders are open, and we meet NYC Latinos in a park. And music bounds us with "ritmo punta asi Bailamos en Honduras Cultura Garifuna" and so. And after the victorious win over bureaucrats, we meet The Bronx people, and true times come, and tomorrow belongs not to eccedentesiasts, Woke-Fake Socialists.

Book Slaves and Warriors in Medieval Britain and Ireland

Download or read book Slaves and Warriors in Medieval Britain and Ireland written by David R. Wyatt and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern sensibilities have clouded historical views of slavery, perhaps more so than any other medieval social institution. Anachronistic economic rationales and notions about the progression of European civilisation have immeasurably distorted our view of slavery in the medieval context. As a result historians have focussed their efforts upon explaining the disappearance of this medieval institution rather than seeking to understand it. This book highlights the extreme cultural/social significance of slavery for the societies of medieval Britain and Ireland c. 800-1200. Concentrating upon the lifestyle, attitudes and motivations of the slave-holders and slave-raiders, it explores the violent activities and behavioural codes of Britain and Ireland s warrior-centred societies, illustrating the extreme significance of the institution of slavery for constructions of power, ethnic identity and gender.

Book Like the Wind Not the Color

Download or read book Like the Wind Not the Color written by julie blew and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2021-01-17 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the time of my diagnosis, because my head was in a crazy fog - physically, emotionally, mentally - I decided I was going to start writing in a journal. I wanted to be able to keep track of everything, as my memory had just taken a permanent shit. I purchased my journal online while in the hospital receiving steroid infusions. I wanted it to be special. I needed someplace to write it all down in and I wanted it to be inviting, as writing has never appealed to me. Ever. My journal is made of soft, supple brown leather; the pages are unlined, and it opens like a secret book of treasures that have long been forgotten. It is packed full of “stuff” from my journey - my thoughts, my Rx’s, my heartbreaks, my symptoms, my wins, my losses, my donations. The inception of this story comes from that journal, one of my most valuable possessions. The journal captured my life from the time of my MS diagnosis in September of 2016 to the half I finally got to run in February of 2019. It is the true story of overcoming and overturning odds. It is raw. It is painful. It is funny. It is filled with f-bombs. I’ve been told it’s inspiring too.
