However, over the last couple of decades, there has been a lot of gun violence in schools, causing many to question regulations in schools and with guns. Many are calling for changes in school safety; one of which is arming teachers to protect students from active shooters. While the intentions behind this idea are noble, bringing a gun into the classroom will not make students safer. Based off my experiences as a teacher, I want to explain why guns should be kept out of the classroom. I strongly feel there are better solutions than giving teachers the responsibility of a gun.

Although Adams distributed a privately printed edition of a hundred copies of The Education for friends and family in 1907, it wasn’t published more widely until 1918, the year he died. The book won the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 1919, and in 1999 a Modern Library panel placed it first on its list of the best nonfiction books published in the twentieth century.
