Book Mrs Mrs Toxic 2 Special Edition

Download or read book Mrs Mrs Toxic 2 Special Edition written by Nikki Flowers and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-07 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I thought it was all over. I thought I had the antidote. I thought I was cured as I stripped myself bare in front of God. Can you remember the first toxic relationship you ever encountered? Have you ever experienced someone dying in your arms? Have you had the fate of someone's life in your hands, leaving you to make a decision on whether they live or die? Have you ever quarreled with a loved one as they took their last breath, not even giving you the opportunity to say I'm sorry? I didn't figure it out until I was on my knees in desperate need of a concoction to fill the void my emotions had created. I drank the poison as my body absorbed the intoxicating flames, crying tears of acid. My first and last toxic relationship was one I'd had from birth. However, the final curtain call landed me behind bars. From the emotional drunken fantasies, to the dark, raged-filled nights, I watched my life spiral out of control as Mrs. Toxic created alter egos to survive emotional state of mind. Throughout the good and bad memories, the unspoken words and the missed moments, different personas took over my mind. The alcoholic traits, the good, bad, and ugly debates, the cooked mastermind, the businesswoman who raised the stakes--when I thought it was all over, that's when I realized it was truly the beginning of the battle within Mrs. Toxic.

Book Application of LC MS MS in the Mycotoxins Studies

Download or read book Application of LC MS MS in the Mycotoxins Studies written by Laura Gámiz-Gracia and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-06-17 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by the fungi of different species (mainly Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Penicillium), with toxic effects for humans and animals. These mycotoxins can contaminate food and feed. The European Union (EU) has established the maximum permitted or recommended levels for well-known mycotoxins in different foodstuffs. However, there are other mycotoxins that are not included in the regulations: the “emerging mycotoxins” (whose toxicity is still not clear), and the “modified or masked mycotoxins” (produced as a consequence of a detoxification strategy of the host plant of the fungus or during food processing). These mycotoxins could pose a risk and should also be taken into account. In order to assure consumers’ health, analytical methods for the accurate determination of mycotoxins in different food matrices and feeds are required. In this sense, liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) is a powerful tool for their unique identification and quantification. Moreover, the use of high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) allows one to identify novel mycotoxins and targeted/untargeted approaches for study. This Special Issue compiles recent applications of LC–MS/MS in mycotoxin studies, as well as the development and validation of new analytical methods for their identification and quantification in different food matrices and feed, occurrence studies, and the biomonitoring of mycotoxins and their metabolites in biological fluids.

  • Author : Brinda Sarathy
  • Publisher : University of Pittsburgh Press

Download or read book Inevitably Toxic written by Brinda Sarathy and published by University of Pittsburgh Press. This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not a day goes by that humans aren’t exposed to toxins in our environment—be it at home, in the car, or workplace. But what about those toxic places and items that aren’t marked? Why are we warned about some toxic spaces' substances and not others? The essays in Inevitably Toxic consider the exposure of bodies in the United States, Canada and Japan to radiation, industrial waste, and pesticides. Research shows that appeals to uncertainty have led to social inaction even when evidence, e.g. the link between carbon emissions and global warming, stares us in the face. In some cases, influential scientists, engineers and doctors have deliberately "manufactured doubt" and uncertainty but as the essays in this collection show, there is often no deliberate deception. We tend to think that if we can’t see contamination and experts deem it safe, then we are okay. Yet, having knowledge about the uncertainty behind expert claims can awaken us from a false sense of security and alert us to decisions and practices that may in fact cause harm. In the epilogue, Hamilton and Sarathy interview Peter Galison, a prominent historian of science whose recent work explores the complex challenge of long term nuclear waste storage.

Book Validation of Alternative Methods for Toxicity Testing

Download or read book Validation of Alternative Methods for Toxicity Testing written by Chantra Eskes and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-26 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides information on best practices and new thinking regarding the validation of alternative methods for toxicity testing. It covers the validation of experimental and computational methods and integrated approaches to testing and assessment. Validation strategies are discussed for methods employing the latest technologies such as tissue-on-a-chip systems, stem cells and transcriptomics, and for methods derived from pathway-based concepts in toxicology. Validation of Alternative Methods for Toxicity Testing is divided into two sections, in the first, practical insights are given on the state-of-the-art and on approaches that have resulted in successfully validated and accepted alternative methods. The second section focuses on the evolution of validation principles and practice that are necessary to ensure fit-for-purpose validation that has the greatest impact on international regulatory acceptance of alternative methods. In this context validation needs to keep pace with the considerable scientific advancements being made in toxicology, the availability of sophisticated tools and techniques that can be applied in a variety of ways, and the increasing societal and regulatory demands for better safety assessment. This book will be a useful resource for scientists in the field of toxicology, both from industry and academia, developing new test methods, strategies or techniques, as well as Governmental and regulatory authorities interested in understanding the principles and practicalities of validation of alternative methods for toxicity testing.

Book Cyanobacteria and Cyanotoxins

Download or read book Cyanobacteria and Cyanotoxins written by Ana M. Cameán and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-04-15 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cyanobacteria are a group of ubiquitous photosynthetic prokaryotes. Their occurrence has been increasing worldwide, due to anthropogenic activities and climate change. Several cyanobacterial species are able to synthesize a high number of bioactive molecules, among them, cyanotoxins (microcystins, cylindrospermopsin, nodularin, etc.), which are considered a health concern. For risk assessment of cyanotoxins, more scientific knowledge is required to perform adequate hazard characterization, exposure evaluation and, finally, risk characterization of these toxins. This Special Issue “Cyanobacteria and Cyanotoxins: New Advances and Future Challenges” presents new research or review articles related to different aspects of cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins, and contributes to providing new toxicological data and methods for a more realistic risk assessment.
