It doesn’t include joining a young people’s tour group or crushing on a boy whose flirting runs hot and cold. And it definitely doesn’t include being accused of theft. Sam Briggs also has a plan for the trip—hang out with his uncle and cousins, and avoid thinking about his stupid parents. But when family members pair-up with strangers, Sam is left wanting to hit something. The only bright spot is shy, constantly blushing Rose, a girl he really needs to avoid. She’s too nice for a meaningless hookup. Then why can’t he stop thinking about her? Determined to clear her name, Rose decides to find out who the real thief is. She quickly learns that everyone has secrets. Dangerous secrets. But by the time Sam starts helping with the investigation, Rose is wishing she could forget the whole thing and just focus on his intense gaze and lopsided smile. There are only a few days left on the trip after all, and they’ll never see each other again once it’s over. Right? But it’s too late. Danger has a way of finding you, whether it’s disguised as a cunning thief or a swoony boy.

Download or read book Mr Billingsley written by Edward W. Pluemer and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My wife and I had the good fortune to be able to visit my mother several times at her assisted-living facility during her last years. While the church-run facility did an excellent job of looking after my mother during her final years, I was struck by the eventual transition of the residents from vibrant participants to frail elderly fringe beings. Within the four-month intervals between our visits, there could sometimes be stunning differences in the appearance and behavior of the residents we had come to know personally. Over the course of each passing year, multiple residents would either be moved to the adjoining nursing wing, go home to their families, and/or pass away. We witnessed how the natural aging process brought physical decline and social withdrawal to so many of the residents, despite the sincere efforts of the staff. My hope is that this book spreads awareness of the sad and inevitable ending so many seniors face. Too many spend the last years of their lives alone before taking their worldly accomplishments and contributions quietly to their grave, so often unacknowledged or underappreciated. Seniors are our personal history and most precious human resource. We, as a society, will be far richer if we love, listen to, and learn from them.

Perfect for those who love Hoot, Holes, or Frindle! The Rylance family is stuck. Dad's got writer's block. Ethan promised to illustrate a group project at school--even though he can't draw. But one night the ink of his drawings runs together--and then leaps off the page! This small burst of creativity is about to change everything. Ethan finds him first. Inkling has absorbed a couple chapters of his math book--not good--and the story he's supposed to be illustrating for school--also not good. But Inkling's also started drawing the pictures to go with the story--which is amazing! It's just the help Ethan was looking for! Inkling helps the rest of the family too--for Sarah he's a puppy. And for Dad he's a spark of ideas for a new graphic novel. It's exactly what they all want. It's not until Inkling goes missing that this family has to face the larger questions of what they--and Inkling--truly need. • A New York Times Notable Book • A New York Public Library Best Book of the Year -- top ten selection • "A true-to-life family, some can't-put-it-down excitement, a few deep questions, and more than a little bit of magic. Download or read book Fearless Leadership written by Richard M Varey and published by Troubador Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2017-02-28 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “When you create a fearless environment; a workplace without fear, you and your people will fly.” Fearless Leadership aims to improve leadership and personal effectiveness in any workplace. Drawing on over 10 years of research and work on leadership, Richard M Varey has cultivated a model, ‘The Fearless Approach’, which urges leaders to create a fear-free culture and atmosphere within their organisations to allow individuals to flourish. He explains how a fearless approach can be used to raise the capacity of others, and also why it achieves this. Supported by evolutionary biology, neuro-psychology theories and a wealth of case studies of successful businesses and leaders, Richard argues that the key to developing fearlessness in the workplace has three dimensions; relationships, resilience and excellence which are represented by the fearless cube. Those three dimensions are in turn dependent on 20 separate business and leadership skills. The book explores each of the 20 individual skills and allows readers to evaluate their existing behavioural traits against these using diagnostic tools, thus identifying areas needing improvement and offers practical methods to better these skills. Fearless Leadership is littered with anecdotes from the worlds of sport and the armed forces, and will appeal to readers of Steve Peters, Carol Dweck and Malcolm Gladwell and to those interested in business management, leadership and popular psychology.
