Book excerpt: Alone with Mr. Darcy.... Elizabeth Bennet can't imagine anything worse than being stranded by a blizzard in a tiny cottage with proud and unpleasant Mr. Darcy. But being trapped there for days - and nights - with an injured and confused Mr. Darcy who keeps saying the oddest things about her is even worse. At least he possesses the useful ability of lighting a fire to keep them from freezing to death. But when he puts his arms around her, she discovers the hearth isn't the only place he knows how to build a fire. And the little half-frozen kitten he finds in a woodpile isn't proving to be much of a chaperone. She doesn't really believe his promises to marry her if anyone finds out they spent two nights alone together, especially after learning he was betrayed by another woman in the past. When her worst fears are realized and her reputation is in tatters, she isn't surprised to discover Mr. Darcy has vanished into thin air, leaving her no choice but to find a husband as soon as possible before her whole family is ruined. Any husband will have to do, no matter how much she dislikes him. Even if she can't stop thinking of Mr. Darcy.... Praise for Abigail Reynolds "If you are unfamiliar with these riveting and romantic variations, they are retellings of Pride and Prejudice that take our beloved hero and heroine down a slightly altered path. Abigail Reynolds, one of my favorite Austenesque authors, is a skilled-story teller, an ardent admirer of Jane Austen, and quite proficient at infusing a lot of emotion, tension, and passion into her stories!" Austenesque Reviews "If romantics can overlook the subversion, they should enjoy witnessing Elizabeth as an industrious and caring wife, administering to Pemberley's tenants, learning how to be an equestrian and growing to love that perplexing Darcy." Publishers Weekly

Book Mr Darcy and the Governess

Download or read book Mr Darcy and the Governess written by Valerie Lennox and published by Punk Rawk Books. This book was released on with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After Miss Elizabeth Bennet’s father is swindled in an investment opportunity, the family finds themselves in dire straits, and the eldest Bennet sisters must seek positions as governesses. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy needs a replacement for the disastrous Miss Younge, who brought his younger sister to near ruin at the hands of the late Mr. Wickham, so he hires Elizabeth. Wickham was killed in a flurry of violence. He threatened Miss Darcy with a knife; Mr. Darcy rushed to defend his sister; the end result was not entirely purposeful. Now, however, both Mr. Darcy and his sister are altered, and Elizabeth knows nothing of what befell them both. So, she arrives to an imposing and grim estate, a secretive and brooding employer, and a haughty and troubled charge. I’m afraid this is another of my out-of-character Mr. Darcy variations. I know not entirely what happened, but a bit of Mr. Rochester seemed to creep into him by degrees as I wrote, and I fear he is a bit darker than our own Fitzwilliam, though hopefully circumstances explain his behavior. I also failed at keeping it clean. Again. I seem to always fail at that, don’t I? Heavens.

Book Through Each Other s Eyes

Download or read book Through Each Other s Eyes written by Aleena Ashe and published by . This book was released on 2019-03-06 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the Netherfield Ball, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are at wit's end with each other. Darcy can no longer deny his growing attraction to her, but she is clearly not ready to hear him. Elizabeth is confused by the many versions of Mr. Darcy she has encountered. She seeks refuge from the crowds, including her ridiculous family, on the terrace. He finds solace in the empty library. Grappling with their own feelings, each look up at the night sky. The evening is fine and the stars shine in their multitude reminding Elizabeth and Darcy just how small they are. While looking up at the Heavens, each notices a shooting star streaking across the sky. And each makes a wish: to better understand the other. Neither is ready for what happens next. The day dawns bright but almost immediately, Elizabeth realizes something is very wrong. She is not in her room, not even in her own home. But it was not until she saw her - or rather his - reflection in the mirror that the magnitude of her situation becomes apparent. She has somehow come to inhabit Mr. Darcy's body! Meanwhile Mr. Darcy, who had imbibed too much wine the night before, remains blissfully unaware of his situation while he sleeps. It was not until much later in the day than is his usual wont, that he finally awakes and discovers that he too is not himself. While Through Each Other's Eyes stays true to the overall character of the Pride and Prejudice, the radical change in the characters' situation allows for some changes in perspective and timing, as well as some sensual situations but no explicit sex scenes. It includes all the original characters but also adds a few new ones.
