Book excerpt: Most people who have lost a child write books about how to cope with the child's death. Author Lori Plegge has taken a different perspective on losing a child. Instead of writing about how to cope with the death of a child, she has decided to write a story about her son's life. When Tomorrow Starts Without Me is a true story about the life and death of a young man named Anthony. No matter how hard Lori tried to raise Anthony right, he made some bad choices in his life and those bad choices led to his death. When reading this book you will experience every emotion possible, you become a part of the story. When Tomorrow Starts Without me is not just a sad story about the death of a 19 year old boy but it also tells you funny childhood stories along with some near death experiences Anthony had. Even though the loss of a child is a very tragic thing, Lori has managed to take that tragedy and turn it into something positive to help others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A short story collection conceived out of a life-long intuition: know FEAR, with all of its versions and manifestations, and one will know MAN. The collection is a dissertation of fears. It is ten years of accumulated story telling, in itself, a postulation that reflects the many changes in the life of a writer. Section One is the process that one particular man undertook to get to authenticity; an inner-dialogue about existence, dying, and love, only to find himself at the end, alone and facing his own image in a bathroom mirror. Section Two is a compilation of short stories about the daily-ness of fears and the many ways in which they creep into our lives, deciding and acting for us. Section Three is an adventure story, a change of pace, an imagined and new beginning for mankind. Or perhaps, not!

Book excerpt: All I wanted was to save the coastal resort that has been in our family for generations. Little did I expect the buyer would be the NHL player who my clique picked on in high school. I have no idea why the boy from the wrong side of the tracks would drag me—his enemy—back from the brink of ruin. But when he insists he has a position for me—nanny for his little girl–I begin to understand his motives. Revenge. I have no idea how he plans to exact it, but I’m willing to find out if it means saving White Beach Resort. As I wait for the ball to drop, the summer begins to slip by, and I begin to fall for the man who hates me. Stupid, I know. While I still haven’t discovered what he has up his sleeve, I slowly, deliciously discover what he has under his shirt…and below his belt. The only problem is, I can’t figure out if his touches and kisses are still about payback, or if they’re about something more. But I think I have a way to find out…and I pray it doesn’t backfire.

Book excerpt: AN EVERYMAN'S LIBRARY HARDCOVER CLASSIC. Ivan Goncharov’s 1859 masterpiece—a magnificent farce about a gentleman who spends the better part of his life in bed—brilliantly employs humor to explore the absurdities and injustices of an outmoded social order. Ilya Ilyich Oblomov is a good-hearted nobleman whose majestic slothfulness renders him incapable of making decisions or taking the simplest of actions. Raised in idyllic comfort on his family’s country estate, he has become so lazy as an adult that he lets his affairs deteriorate and allows unscrupulous people to take advantage of his weakness and good nature. Living in a shabby apartment and tended by his indolent serf, Zahar, he relies on the efforts of his increasingly exasperated friend Stolz to protect him from himself. Falling in love briefly rouses Oblomov to exert himself in courting Olga, a young woman Stoltz introduces him to, but his astonishing lethargy eventually defeats even their romance. Wildly successful upon its publication, Oblomov was taken as a slyly subversive indictment of the uselessness and corruption of the nobility, but the character of Goncharov’s superfluous man is rendered in such vivid detail and epic richness that it transcends satire and achieves iconic status, earning a place among the masterworks of Russian literature. Translated by Natalie Duddington (Book Jacket Status: Not Jacketed).

But when she is offered work in the bustling naval port of Harwich serving a wealthy captain's daughter, she leaps at the chance to see more of the world. There she meets Rebecca, her haughty yet magnetic mistress. Intertwined with Louise's story is that of fifteen-year-old Luke, who is beaten and press-ganged, sent to sea against his will on the warship Essex in the service of His Majesty's Navy. He must learn fast and choose his friends well if he is to survive the brutal hardships of a sailor's life and its many dangers, both up high in the rigging and in the dark belowdecks. She Rises brings to vivid life both land and sea in Georgian England, but explores a thoroughly modern and complex love story. Bold, brilliant, and utterly original, this debut novel is an accomplished and gripping search for identity and survival.
