Book excerpt: Besides the MSP 5th® Edition Foundation Courseware - English publication you are advised to obtain the corresponding publication Managing Successful Programmes 5th edition (ISBN: 9780113316762). This 5th edition will help current and aspiring programme managers, and many other roles, to design, plan, lead and deliver their programmes and thus help organizations be successful. Programme management is recognized as an approach that brings together multiple projects and other work associated with delivering outcomes of benefit across organizational boundaries. The programme management approach shows organizations how to adopt appropriate governance, pace, and focus to enable them to move ahead. MSP 5th describes an adaptable set of programme management approaches, leading to the creation of outcomes of benefit in an incremental way and to provide an integrated framework that guides the work. MPS 5th applies three lenses: • Principles are the guiding obligations to achieve Value • Themes are the essential governance, documented in Approaches • Processes are a structured set of activities, showing how themes are applied in the programme (cyclical) lifecycle. Value proposition: MSP is the certification and guidance for programme managers, business change managers and the next step for project managers to develop their knowledge and skills to be able to positively respond to the challenges they face when managing programmes and larger, more strategic or multiple projects. Programme management using MSP creates a framework that enables the organization to align the delivery of programmes and projects to organizational strategy; and to focus on the delivery of outcomes and benefits, while mitigating risks and actively engaging stakeholders at all levels. MSP can be used in conjunction with all the other best-practice products (e.g. PRINCE2®, MoP®, M_o_R®) and international or internal organizational standards (for governance). Book On the move

Download or read book On the move written by Aitor Ibarrola-Armendariz and published by Universidad de Deusto. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together a selection of the papers and round tables delivered at the 39th AEDEAN Conference, held at the University of Deusto in November 2015. The essays in On the Move: Glancing Backwards to Build a Future in English Studies often begin with typically-academic gestures such as retrieving a classic text and finding new ways of studying its genre or characterization; or remarking how certain ungrammatical constructions have gone frequently unnoticed —even in well-known texts— for various reasons; or entangling oneself in contentions about the adequacy of dissecting a literary text or linguistic problem by using innovative analytical tools. In all cases, though, there is the intention of putting forth certain views and notions that will help future scholars to deal in a better light with the dilemmas regularly encountered in literary, linguistic and cultural studies. The book opens with three essays by professors Bartholomae, Pullum and Río, who demonstrate not only their mastery in their respective subjects but also their ability to tailor their contents to multifarious audiences. The next two sections represent the main body of the e-book, with nearly forty contributions on both literature and cultural studies (Part II) and language and linguistics (Part III). These short academic pieces are a representative showcase of the research being done lately in the different areas of expertise. The last section of the volume gathers together the results of four research projects dealing with such engaging topics as postcolonial crime fiction or forgotten texts by Anglo writers about the Spanish Civil War. It is hard to think of any potential reader schooled in English Studies who will not find something suitable to their interests and tastes in this volume.

Book Value Driven Project Management

Download or read book Value Driven Project Management written by Harold Kerzner and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-08-17 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the traditional view of project management, if a project manager completed a project and had adhered to the triple constraints of time, cost, and performance, the project was considered a success. Today, in the eyes of the customer and the parent or sponsoring company, if a completed project did not deliver its anticipated value, it would be seen as a failure. Today's changing economic climate, marked by an increasingly competitive global environment, is driving project managers to become more business oriented. Projects must now be viewed from a strategic perspective within the context of a business or enterprise that needs to provide value to both the customer and the organization itself. As a result, project managers are now required to possess the skills to complete a project within certain specifications, and also know how to create and deliver value. Responding to the needs of today's project managers, Value-Driven Project Management begins by changing the paradigm of project management. Rather than judge the success of a project from the perspectives of time, budget, and quality, the authors demonstrate why success is only achieved when planned business values are met, including: Internal value Financial value Future value Customer-related value The authors also offer best practices that allow you and your organization to create additional value in efficiency, customer satisfaction, and enhanced products and services. Finally, the book helps you incorporate value into clearly defined business objectives and "sell" the value-driven process to executives. Throughout the book, helpful illustrations clarify complex concepts and processes. Assigning valuable resources to projects that don't provide some tangible form of value to the organization and to the client is poor management and poor decision-making. On the other hand, selecting and implementing projects that will deliver value and an acceptable return on investment is effective management and decision-making, but is very challenging, especially when a project may not provide its target value for years to come. With Value-Driven Project Management in hand, you'll discover the tools you need to ensure that projects deliver true value upon their completion.
