Book Employee Motivation in Saudi Arabia

Download or read book Employee Motivation in Saudi Arabia written by Rodwan Hashim Mohammed Fallatah and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-29 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the relevance of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a theory of motivation, whilst taking into account variances in culture and individual experiences and perspectives. Focussing on higher education, the book responds to the call for providing alternative conceptual models, other than those originating from the Anglo-Saxon world. The authors take a contextual approach and use the case of Saudi Arabia to understand motivation in a collectivist, highly religious and conservative society of the Middle East. Providing empirical findings from a study carried out at two Saudi universities differing in their religious outlook, this book reveals a hierarchy of needs that is significantly different from the theory proposed by Maslow. Religion, culture and gender are explored in detail as the authors investigate the relevance of Maslow’s theory in a region that is of growing interest to policy-makers and practitioners in North America and Europe, offering a truly insightful read to an international audience.

Book The Relationship Between Learners Motivation Gender and Completion of MOOCs in Saudi Arabia

Download or read book The Relationship Between Learners Motivation Gender and Completion of MOOCs in Saudi Arabia written by Farraj Ali Alshehri and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are widespread and still growing due to their modernity and proliferation. However, one of the concerns of MOOCs is the high dropout rate of enrollees. Focusing on this issue, especially in Saudi Arabia where there is a lack of literature and special characteristics such as adopting single-sex education system, was an essential reason for conducting the current study. This study examined the relationship among learners' motivation, gender, and completion of MOOCs in Saudi Arabia. Keller's ARCS motivation model was used as the theoretical framework. In this non-experimental survey study, 238 Saudi learners of MOOCs completed the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS). Chi-square tests, independent samples t-tests, multiple regression, and logistic regression were used to analyze the data. The findings showed a low dropout rate and a significant relationship between gender and motivation in MOOCs. Also, females indicated higher motivation levels than males. In addition, there was a positive relationship between learners' motivation and completion of MOOCs. The results can be beneficial for online learning stakeholders as well as MOOCs providers, designers, and researchers in Saudi Arabia.

Book Employment and Career Motivation in the Arab Gulf States

Download or read book Employment and Career Motivation in the Arab Gulf States written by Annika Kropf and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of "rentier mentality" has haunted the literature on the Gulf States for almost 40 years now. However, few studies have actually provided insight into how the nationals themselves perceive their career motivators, employability and productivity. The eleven studies of this book present both empirical findings and case studies that reveal what nationals expect from their workplace and what hinders them from a personal, meaningful contribution. While it seems that an initially high work motivation is often annihilated by structural impediments such as a strong hierarchy or widespread wasta, it also seems that many nationals fail to understand the urgent requirements of the GCC labour markets.

This book was released on 2016 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A large and growing body of literature has investigated job satisfaction among hotel employees. However, far too little attention has been paid to the level of job satisfaction among hotel employees in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This research obtained data which may help to address this research gap. The research therefore explored and provided a review of the literature on job satisfaction, motivational factors, and engagement among hotel employees. Specifically, the research investigated the motivational factors, level of job satisfaction and engagement among hotel employees in Riyadh. The research employed a quantitative approach in the form of a survey, with data being gathered via self-administrated questionnaire. The research used a convenience sample of 237 participants working at six different hotels in Riyadh; including five- and four- star rating. The research found that the most important three motivational factors were ‘good wages,’ ‘job security,’ and ‘opportunities for advancement and development.’ Overall the results demonstrated that hotel employees had high levels of job satisfaction and engagement. The research demonstrated that demographic characteristics such as gender, age, and nationality had an impact on hotel employees’ motivation, satisfaction, and engagement, requiring attention from hotel managers in Saudi Arabia in order to cultivate a highly motivated and engaged team. Exploring the drivers of hotel employee motivation, satisfaction and engagement, this research contributes to this critical area of research in a different context. The research offers some important insights for hotel managers in Riyadh."--Abstract.

Book Teaching and Learning in Saudi Arabia

Download or read book Teaching and Learning in Saudi Arabia written by Amani K Hamdan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Saudi Arabia is witnessing unprecedented progress in the field of higher education. Even though the country opened its first university in 1957, so far there seems to be little English scholarly writing about Saudi education in general and higher education in particular. The current expansion of Saudi Arabia’s higher-education system has put a spotlight on this serious gap in the international literature. This book helps to fill this lacuna through the work of 16 scholars who have contributed to the development of the Saudi education system. In so doing, the book reveals areas where more research is required and thus provides a useful starting point for education scholars. This anthology is unique in that it is the first to offer a comprehensive perspective on the current knowledge base pertaining to Saudi higher education as well as to the ongoing efforts to introduce reforms.

Book Exploring Learners Motivation in Neighborhood Learning Programs in Riyadh Saudi Arabia

Download or read book Exploring Learners Motivation in Neighborhood Learning Programs in Riyadh Saudi Arabia written by Abdulaziz Albawardi and published by . This book was released on 2024 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study holistically explored the motivating factors of female and male low-income adult learners participating in Neighborhood Learning programs (NLPs) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and investigated how these factors are related to persistence and success. The literature reveals that motivation is crucial for adult participation in education, and it can vary significantly depending on the level of motivation. Therefore, low motivation affects a student's commitment and persistence; hence, exploring the motivating factors that influence adult learners' participation is imperative to develop a learning environment congruent with learners' needs. This study employed a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design (MMR) in which quantitative data inform the qualitative phase. The data sources included one survey and in-depth interviews with 11 participants who completed the survey. Quantitative data in Phase I was analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. The findings reveal that the highest motivating factors based on their means were related to cognitive interest, education preparation, professional advancement, and communication improvement. The focus of Phase II was to further investigate how the motivating factors influenced participation and were related to persistence and success based on the stories participants shared. The data from the interviews were analyzed through an inductive line-by-line process utilizing the standard grounded theory coding process (open, axial, and selective coding). The findings indicate that the most significant motivating factors of male and female low-income adult learners were economic, personal, professional, social, and communal factors. The expanded generated model presented in this study adds to the body of knowledge and offers a thorough understanding of the motivating factors that encourage low-income adult learners, both male and female, to participate in NLPs.

Book Identity Trajectories of Adult Second Language Learners

Download or read book Identity Trajectories of Adult Second Language Learners written by Cristiana Palmieri and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2018-12-07 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the motivations of adult second language (L2) learners to learn Italian in continuing education settings in Australia. It focuses on their motivational drives, learning trajectories and related dynamics of identity development triggered by the learning process. Central to the study are adult L2 learners, who are still a largely under-researched and growing group of learners, and readers will gain a better understanding of the learning process of this specific group of learners and ideas for sustaining L2 adult learning motivation in continuing education settings. Furthermore, the book discusses the role played by the Italian migrant community in Australia in making Italian a sought-after language to learn. It explores how a migrant community may influence motivation, and highlights and expands on the notion of L2 learning contexts, showing the existence of sociocultural environments where second language learning trajectories are affected by the presence of migrant groups.
