Book Mothers Warriors Guardians of the Soul

Download or read book Mothers Warriors Guardians of the Soul written by Geraldine Theresa Horan and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-08-09 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study shows that women involved in National Socialism in the years 1924 - 1934 developed and shaped a recognizable discourse which communicated and reflected their position and status within the NS movement. The analysis is based on a variety of text-types produced by members of NS women's organisations, and includes official correspondence, circulars, reports, pamphlets, monographs and articles from NS women's journals. It draws upon several areas of linguistic theory, including feminist linguistics, semantics, pragmatics and discourse analysis, and the salient features identified in the female discourse are placed within a sociolinguistic framework. While previous research into the language of the NS-system has largely ignored the possibility of a cohesive female discourse, the study supports the idea that this discourse was dynamic, and at times heterogeneous, whilst also displaying many self-defining and self-referential features. It is characterised by its ambiguities and apparent contradictions, which expresses separateness and difference, yet also solidarity with the NSDAP.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first comprehensive survey of women in the Weimar Republic, exploring the diversity and multiplicity of women’s experiences in the economy, politics and society. Taking the First World War as a starting point, this book explores the great changes in the lives, expectations, and perceptions of German women, with new opportunities in employment, education and political life and greater freedoms in their private and social life, all played out in the media spotlight. Engaging with the most recent research and debates, this book portrays the Weimar Republic as a period of progressive change for young, urban women, to be stalled in 1933. This book will be essential reading for students and researchers of German women in the early twentieth century, and will also appeal to anyone interested in the Weimar Republic and women’s history.

Book Germany and the Confessional Divide

Download or read book Germany and the Confessional Divide written by Mark Edward Ruff and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2021-12-10 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From German unification in 1871 through the early 1960s, confessional tensions between Catholics and Protestants were a source of deep division in German society. Engaging this period of historic strife, Germany and the Confessional Divide focuses on three traumatic episodes: the Kulturkampf waged against the Catholic Church in the 1870s, the collapse of the Hohenzollern monarchy and state-supported Protestantism after World War I, and the Nazi persecution of the churches. It argues that memories of these traumatic experiences regularly reignited confessional tensions. Only as German society became increasingly secular did these memories fade and tensions ease.

Book National Socialism and German Discourse

Download or read book National Socialism and German Discourse written by W J Dodd and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-12 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this discourse history, W J Dodd analyses the ‘unquiet voices’ of opponents whose contemporary critiques of Nazism, from positions of territorial and inner exile, focused on the ‘language of Nazism’. Individual chapters review ‘precursor’ discourses; Nazi public discourse from 1933 to 1945; the testimonies of ‘unquiet voices’ abroad, and in private and published texts in the ‘Reich’; attempts to ‘denazify the language’ (1945-49), and the legacies of the Nazi past in a retrospective discourse of ‘coming to terms’ with the Nazi past. In the period from 1945, the book focuses on contestations of ‘tainted language’ and instrumentalizations of the Nazi past, and the persistence of linguistic taboos in contemporary German usage. Highly engaging, with English translations provided throughout, this book will provide an invaluable resource for scholars of discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and German history and culture; as well as readers with a general interest in language and politics.

This lovely book is a must read from such a talented soul.” - A Reader "This is a special book that will give answers or peace to others in so many ways." - A Reader "I read the Warrior of Light book in separate chunks to really get the full value of it and the author's experience. I enjoyed it! The writing style is directed towards the more masculine/male audience, and maybe one at the beginning of a spiritual path." - A Reader "More clarity came as I went back and re-read Warrior of Light from the beginning. I’m drawn to the author's story and for our similarities. As I was reading it I felt like the author was reading my mind, and relaying excerpts from my life. Until, I read Warrior of Light, I felt very alone in this process of overcoming. There really are no words I can find to thank this author for being the beacon of light at the end of this transition from ‘victim’ to the person I am today." - A Reader "I've been reading "Warrior of Light". I love how the author describes cord cutting and shielding. It is so helpful! I enjoyed the writing." - A Reader "I read the Warrior of light book. I loved every page! It is not the type of book that you read one time. This book has definitely become #1 in my list of favorite books." - A Reader "I love the way the author makes spirituality come across so realistic! Even the non-believers would be interested to follow such a practical approach." - A Reader "After reading Warrior of Light, I see Kevin Hunter definitely gaining access to the hearts of the men who want to read his books. The people who need to hear about angels for one from a male point of view." - A Reader "I read more of the Warrior Of Light book and about the Archangels. I really give Kevin Hunter a lot of credit for writing and being a messenger for others. It's working! I just finished ordering some of his other books. Every book of Kevin's has me so interested. So much of my own life changes are happening fast because of these great messages in them! His books are a God sent for sure!" - A Reader
