Book Apollo s Creed

Download or read book Apollo s Creed written by Traci Shoblom and published by Gildan Media LLC aka G&D Media. This book was released on 2023-01-24 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you had the chance to talk to someone who went to the moon, what would you say? What questions would you ask? Imagine the stories, thoughts, and reflections he would share. “What was it like to be in zero gravity?” “Did you see any UFOs?” “Were you scared?” Imagine what it would be like to spend time with one of the twenty-four human beings in the history of our planet to go to the moon. Now imagine that the astronaut was your dad. Traci Shoblom is the youngest daughter of Apollo 12 astronaut Richard F. Gordon. She is an author, speaker, and a university lecturer. Although she’s published numerous nonfiction books, articles, academic chapters, scripts, and more, Apollo’s Creed is Traci’s “labor of love.” In it, she shares the stories, anecdotes, and wisdom that her dad told her at home—when the cameras were off. When you’ve sat upon a rocket and had it set on fire, been shot into outer space and then have been all alone in a space capsule, you get a different perspective on life, and that unique viewpoint lives on as Richard’s legacy. These are Traci’s stories—the funny ones, the profound ones, and the rare chance for a daughter to ask her dad, “So, what was it like to go to the moon?”

Download or read book Food for Thought written by George J. Febish and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-08-30 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Food For Thought: An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness" By George J. Febish and Jo Anne Oxley You Make Your Own Luck! How to Change Your Health Luck! We have more Control Than we Think! American health is getting worse and people actually believe that getting old equates to getting ill. Co-authors George J. Febish and Jo Anne Oxley declare that this is absolutely not true. People are empowered to be as healthy as they can be. People do not have good or bad genes. The problem is that genes are being turned ON or OFF, which causes health or illness. In Food For Thought: An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness, the authors reveal what turns genes on and off and how people can control these switches. In this book, readers can explore two new fields of biology that impact the quality of life. Epigenetics is the study of how human genes are switched on and off. For example, cancer genes can either be turned on or off and tumor fighting genes can be turned on or off. Nutrigenomics is the study of how different foods cause epigenetic switches to our genes. It is a mapping of which foods switch on or off which genes. The state of ones health is not random nor is it luck. It is the sum of all the decision a person makes in his of her life. It includes foods eaten and those not eaten, how one thinks, what one believes in as well as the physical environment one lives in. Food For Thought: An Epigenetic Guide to Wellness will teach readers how they can control life changing switches to improve their health, lifestyle, and mental attitude. Each one is responsible for his or her health. Doctors and the government are not responsible. Making the right decisions and living a better life is everybodys choice.

Download or read book Preparations for the Rio 20 Summit written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Environmental Audit Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2011-10-26 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report warns that the planet's environmental problems are now much more urgent than at the first Rio Summit in 1992. Safe limits on the amount of waste, pollution and biodiversity loss that natural systems can tolerate continue to be breached, undermining our ability to use natural resources to support further growth. The forthcoming UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in June 2012, 'Rio+20' will take place 20 years after the pivotal Earth Summit there. It will focus on the 'green economy' and the relevant UN institutions. Engagement and discussion between Government and civil society groups, businesses and individuals, about the Summit's objective - to kick-start a renewed commitment to sustainable development - is vital. The Millennium Development Goals, which aimed to improve the quality of life of some of the world's poorest people, are unlikely to be met by their 2015 end-date and do not fully capture the sustainability challenges facing the world. The MPs recommend that new 'Goals' (Sustainability Goals and Consumption Goals) should be agreed at Rio+20, to shift the effort towards the sustainable development and sustainable consumption contributions that the UK and other developed countries now need to make. The Prime Minister should attend the conference in June to show the Government's commitment to the aims of Rio+20 within the UK and beyond. The Government should also appoint a 'special envoy' to engage the public and co-ordinate Government departments' inputs as part of an ongoing process: before, during and after the Summit itself.

Book Equity Diversity and Interdependence

Download or read book Equity Diversity and Interdependence written by Michael Murray and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If civil society is being encouraged to more fully embrace inclusiveness and respect for diversity, then so must the multiplicity of service support organizations with which it interacts. This is the key proposition behind this seminal contribution to public policy. While legislation can ensure minimum standards of behaviour and outcomes, meaningful organizational progression beyond legal imperatives requires authentic dialogue, based on principles of equity, diversity and interdependence. These are essential components for deeper societal transformation. Using the divided society of Northern Ireland as a case study, and its rural governance arena in particular, this book provides an authoritative empirical analysis of, and prescriptive agenda for, collaborative conversations. The insights provided by this book go far beyond this region and have a profound relevance for other societies struggling to emerge from conflict, racism and social separation.

Book Food Energetics

    Book Details:
  • Author : Steve Gagné
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2008-11-05
  • ISBN : 1594777837
  • Pages : 351 pages

Download or read book Food Energetics written by Steve Gagné and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2008-11-05 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explains how food imparts a living wisdom that is separate from the science of nutrient values • Offers an approach to diet from the perspective of ancient peoples, who understood how the energetic qualities of food affect both physical and spiritual health • Includes a comprehensive catalog of the energetic properties of myriad foods--from chicken, beef, and potatoes to garlic, avocados, zucchini, and grapefruit Food is more than simply fuel. It imparts a living wisdom that is beyond the science and mechanics of calories, grams, and nutrient values. Ancient peoples, through their relationships with the plants and animals providing their food, understood that their food conveyed the unique energetic qualities of its source, such as swiftness from wild deer and groundedness from root vegetables. With the rise of agribusiness and industrial food production, people have become disconnected from the sources of their food and are no longer able to register the subtle rhythms, harmony, and energies that food can convey. This separation has thrown the basic human-food relationship out of balance--to the detriment of human consciousness. In Food Energetics, Steve Gagné shows how to revitalize our connection to food and remedy our physical and psychic imbalances with the wisdom of food energetics. He provides a comprehensive catalog of foods and their corresponding energetic properties and explains how each food affects us at the deepest spiritual level. By demonstrating how to plan meals that incorporate both dominant and compliant foods, he shows how to provide truly healthy cuisine that nourishes the body and the soul.
