Book excerpt: This thirty year study of the Tabernacle of Moses, took me into the life of Jesus Christ. I began to see the parallel of the salvation plan along with the tabernacle of Moses come together. I saw where Noah was told by God to build the ark. He was given the measurements and what type of wood to use. This was not random; it was all in the plan of God. Then, he told Jochebed, Moses' mother to make an ark and to lay her son, Moses in the Ark. Then Jesus is the Ark or the Ark of Safety. In the tabernacle of Moses, you will see the cross, the salvation plan, how everything has a meaning and a plan.

Book The Son of Man Debate

    Book Details:
  • Author : Delbert Burkett
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 2000-01-13
  • ISBN : 1139429809
  • Pages : 192 pages

Download or read book The Son of Man Debate written by Delbert Burkett and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2000-01-13 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The expression 'Son of Man', used in the Gospels almost exclusively by Jesus, has been the object of intensive study since the Protestant Reformation, yet scholars have come to no agreement on its origin or meaning. Research in this area has been described as 'a veritable mine field' and 'a can of worms'. Because of the scope and complexity of the literature, no comprehensive survey of the subject has been written in the twentieth century. Delbert Burkett's book fills this need. It provides a comprehensive historical overview of the debate from the patristic period to 1996, and gives an evaluation of that research and a summation of the present state of the question. Burkett concludes that despite nineteen centuries of 'Son of Man' study there is no consensus concerning the meaning or origin of the expression; the debate is therefore a prime example of the limits of New Testament scholarship.

Book excerpt: This special edition of the Lectures on Faith from Zion’s Camp Books is formatted for convenience on an eReader, with more than 100 internal links to scriptures and citations. We hope it will give you a great reading experience! The Lectures on Faith were originally prepared as materials for the School of the Prophets in Kirtland, Ohio in 1834 and were included in the Doctrine and Covenants from 1835 to 1921. Although the Lectures on Faith have never been accepted as revelation by the body of the church (and so were removed from the Doctrine and Covenants in 1921), they contain important doctrinal insights that can help anyone seeking to learn more about faith and come closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. President Joseph Fielding Smith noted, “I suppose that the rising generation knows little about the Lectures on Faith. . . . In my own judgment, these Lectures are of great value and should be studied. . . . I consider them to be of extreme value in the study of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Seek Ye Earnestly. Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1970.) Elder Bruce R. McConkie of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has stated the lectures contain “some of the best lesson material ever prepared on the Godhead; on the character, perfections, and attributes of God; on faith, miracles, and sacrifice. They can be studied with great profit by all gospel scholars.” (Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine. Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1966.)

Book Introduction to Reading the Pentateuch

Download or read book Introduction to Reading the Pentateuch written by Jean Louis Ska and published by Eisenbrauns. This book was released on 2006 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Jean Louis Ska's Introduzione alla lettura del Pentateuco was first published in Italy, it was quickly hailed as the most attractive and usable introduction to the Pentateuch to appear in modern times. Because of its strengths, it was soon translated into French. The English translation published by Eisenbrauns has been completely reviewed and updated (including the bibliography) by Ska. Among the book's many strengths are its close attention to the ways in which modern cultural history has affected Pentateuchal interpretation, attention to providing the kinds of examples that are helpful to students, presentation of a good balance between the history of interpretation and the data of the text, and the clarity of Ska's writing. For both students and scholars, many consider this book the best contemporary introduction to the Pentateuch.

Book excerpt: Moses was born a slave in the Goshen ghetto. An adopted prince of Egypt and perhaps an esteemed son of Pharaoh. Perhaps a mumble-mouth stuttering Semitic step-son whom the Pharaoh was too willing to kill. A murderer, a fugitive and a fleeing felon. A simple Midian shepherd. A reluctant prophet. Split the Red Sea with God’s staff. Spoke face-to-face with God. An author of the world’s most beloved book. General of a slave nation. Perhaps a failed father and distant husband. God called Moses to HIS higher calling. God calls all of us to HIS higher calling if only we would follow HIM in our faith. “My friend, Terry A. Roberts, wrote MOSES DRAWN OUT. It is a book of careful study, biblical accuracy, and practical help – enjoy!” -Doctor David A. Rakes – Retired SBC Pastor, Fairborn, Ohio. “Moses is considered one of the most important faith leaders in world history. Terry A. Roberts has been able to challenge those who question the Bible by writing about Moses and how his story continues to this day. The nation of Israel is the story of Moses.” -David H. Foster, Sr. - Adjunct Professor of Business, Thomas More University. Crestview Hills, Kentucky. “I loved Terry A. Roberts’ boots-on-the-ground commentary. The reader feels like they are walking alongside Moses and experiencing the sand, mountains, rivers, fears, excitement and the atmosphere of the biblical story.” -Pastor James M. “Jim” Gifford – Retired SBC Pastor, Kettering, Ohio.
