Many preachers today avoid the topic altogether because people today don’t quite know what to do with words like “awe” or “fear.” R. C. Sproul, in this classic work, puts the holiness of God in its proper and central place in the Christian life. He paints an awe-inspiring vision of God that encourages Christian to become holy just as God is holy. Once you encounter the holiness of God, your life will never be the same.

Book excerpt: Dr Coats, widely recognized for his work over two decades on the Pentateuchal traditions, here presents us with his distinctive portrait of Moses. George Coats identifies two strands in the Moses tradition, the tradition of the hero who represents the people of God, and that of the 'man of God', distinctly unheroic in folkloristic terms, who represents God to the people. This duality in the portrayal of Moses becomes evident already in the call narrative of Exodus 3, a narrative that should not be divided between J and E but reflects the most ancient perception of the character Moses and his significance.

Skies of Parchment, Seas of Ink offers the first full survey of Jewish illuminated manuscripts, ranging from their origins in the Middle Ages to the present day. Featuring some of the most beautiful examples of Jewish art of all time—including hand-illustrated versions of the Bible, the Haggadah, the prayer book, marriage documents, and other beloved Jewish texts—the book introduces readers to the history of these manuscripts and their interpretation. Featured manuscripts were commissioned by Jews and produced by Jews and non-Jews over many centuries, and represent Eastern and Western perspectives and the views of both pietistic and liberal communities across the Diaspora, including Europe, Israel, the Middle East, and Africa. Magnificently illustrated with pages from hundreds of manuscripts, many previously unpublished or rarely seen, Skies of Parchment, Seas of Ink offers surprising new perspectives on Jewish life, presenting the books of the People of the Book as never before.

Moses was born in a great trying period for the children of Israel; but God, by His Mighty Hand, shielded and protected him. When he came to age, he refused to be taken as the son of Pharaoh's daughter, but chose to suffer affliction with the people of God. After God met him at the burning bush, he returned to Pharaoh in great authority, power, and boldness; and thus delivered the Israelites. He obeyed God faithfully and had close relationship with God. Even though he made a mistake, God, in His Great Love and Mercy, forgave him (for he repented) and took him to Heaven.

Book excerpt: Have you ever found yourself enjoying the dramatic stories of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy only to feel the narrative screech to a halt when it collides with long sections of the Law? This book solves that problem. Here you will read the uninterrupted story of Israel, witnessing its descent into Egypt, its slavery, the Plagues, the first Passover, the Exodus, the escape from Pharaoh, the parting of the Red Sea, God's giving the Law on Mount Sinai, the manna, the quail, and the fiery serpents of the Wilderness Years, the opposition of enemy nations, and the Second Generation's preparation to conquer the Promised Land.Following this dramatic narrative, the entire Law of God is organized topically at the end of the book, allowing you to feel the full impact, rationale, and burden of the divine legal code condensed into one space. If you want to know the true, full story of Israel's Exodus from Egypt, this book is for you. If you are a believer, it will enhance your devotions by helping you know the Biblical narrative of the Pentateuch more intimately. If you are a skeptic, its logic will challenge your doubts. Here you will discover facets of the Exodus - surprising things in plain sight - in the ink on the pages of Scripture - but that many have overlooked.

Book Moses

  • Pages : 72 pages

Download or read book Moses written by Tumisang Mabe and published by Tumisang Mabe. This book was released on 2024-02-09 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Moses was a man chosen by God after the prophecy God told Abraham that his descendants will be in a foreign land away from their promise land and they will be enslaved for four generations depicting four hundred years. And He told him after this time he would rescue them by His mighty hand and punish the nation that enslaved them. When this time came God had no choice but to free his people from slavery and start his kingdom with them on the earth that he had promised his friend Abraham. He chose Moses to show His marvelous power when He frees His people from the yoke of the Egyptians Moses knew all about the gods of the Egyptians but trusted and saw that the God of his people the Israelites was greater than the gods of the Egyptians. We read that Moses was the most humble man of his day. I believe God loved him more for his character and humbleness even above his calling as the bible teaches that, "He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble." Let's take this journey of the man born to free God's people from slavery. The ministry of Moses was a very huge ministry it was like no other ministry we have ever read about in the bible. Moses was in ministry every day and night, if anything happened in the camp of the Israelites answers would be required from him. He was a mediator between the people and God. When God was angry with the people Moses would advocate for them and brought peace. Moses became a friend of God. In the bible we read that Abraham was a friend of God and we are also told that God addressed Moses as someone would speak to his friend. (Exodus 33:11) However in the journey Moses did something that made him to leave ministry and let others take over from him but this man journeyed with God and the Israelites in an amazing way. This was the man who taught a much broader view about the ways of Priesthood and altars. I am aware of Abraham and others but Moses was taken by God to a much high order of priesthood. This Man went to a place were normal men don't go. He saw things that happened back in eternity. He saw things that happened back when God created the heavens and the earth. He saw the creation of men and angels.
