Book The Effect of Down Payment Assistance on Mortgage Choice

Download or read book The Effect of Down Payment Assistance on Mortgage Choice written by Bree J. Lang and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lack of wealth for a down payment is one of the most recognized barriers to home ownership. In response to this barrier, state and federal government have implemented many programs that provide down payment assistance to potential home buyers. Numerous studies have shown that this assistance can increase homeownership rates, but few have measured how receiving assistance may alter borrowing behavior. Using data from a down payment assistance grant in the Midwest, this study compares the loan type and size of grant recipients to other borrowers that report similar income and buy homes in the same census tract. Results indicate grant recipients are more likely to use conventional loans, which are less expensive than other loan types that require a smaller down payment. Estimates also suggest that the grant may reduce loan size for borrowers who are on the margin of using a conventional loan.

Book The Mortgage Coach

Download or read book The Mortgage Coach written by Holly Alred and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2010-04-08 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Take a calculator, and compute 19.6 million dollars of zero interest down payment assistance, at up to $50,000 per family. Even if each family used only $25,000, how fast should the funds be gone? Hard to believe funds are still available, more than 6 months since their release. The federal government gave HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) 3.92 billion dollars divide between the states, for redevelopment of abandon and foreclosed homes, in 2009 with ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) funds. No state received less than 1.9 million of the total. Why does a grant for down payment and closing cost remain unused? The program as written is difficult, intimidating to use for the average home buyer it is intended to assist. This is that guide, it is a recipe, a step by step instruction book, for home buyers and their agents to use the program. The end result just might be your buying a home with the program.

Book excerpt: If you think it is almost over - think again - the other shoe is about to drop. It is said that "ignorance is bliss" but WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW about this credit crisis WILL HURT YOU in more ways than you can imagine. Your financial life is at stake. Your home equity is deflated. Your investment and retirement accounts are but a pittance of what they once were. We, the American people, have been victims of a crime that has landed us in a major recession. Are we headed into a full scale depression? Do you know that our politicians, with knee-jerk reactions, are passing bills into law that are delivering death blows to the barely breathing housing market? This book will reveal insider secrets. You will discover the fallacy of the credit scoring system and why the unjust closing of our credit is going to further destroy our recovery. You will see actual rate sheets that lenders forbid brokers from showing you, and you will be outraged by the recent pricing additions imposed by our government sponsored enterprises. Is this a secret tax to pay back the billions of dollars in bailout money? We have witnessed century-old institutions come crashing down. But what was behind the crash? As we sit here Stunned in America, we are looking for answers. Who did it? How did it happen? Who is to blame? How do we fix it? The facts behind this crisis will anger you -and rightly so! Should we be planning another "tea party"? This book exposes what the media is not telling you and what the banks don't want you to know. Also included is a workbook that will allow you the opportunity to measure your own ability to get - or not get - a mortgage loan.

Book What Lenders Don t Want You to Know

Download or read book What Lenders Don t Want You to Know written by Kevin M. Melody and published by . This book was released on 2001-06-17 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you seek information that will help save you money on a mortgage transaction, you've found it Kevin Melody spells out trade secrets of the mortgage industry from an insider's perspective, with frank honesty and in plain English. He shows how most borrowers shop for mortgages like they shop for cars: they find the product they want, at a price they believe is fair, then they strike a deal. Unfortunately, unlike a car purchase, a mortgage transaction will not close on the day the "deal" is made. Therefore, unless the borrower is sophisticated enough to know how to make it stick, he really has no deal at all. He has committed himself to the lender, but the commitment may not be mutual. In fact, the rates, costs, even the product itself may change later; at a time when the borrower has, not only an emotional stake in proceeding with the transaction, but also a financial one; and is therefore unlikely to cancel. Whether you're a first-time buyer, or a property owner with many mortgage transactions under his belt, you will save time, money, and frustration by reading this book.

Book The Financial Crisis Inquiry Report

Download or read book The Financial Crisis Inquiry Report written by Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2011-05-01 with total page 692 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Financial Crisis Inquiry Report, published by the U.S. Government and the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission in early 2011, is the official government report on the United States financial collapse and the review of major financial institutions that bankrupted and failed, or would have without help from the government. The commission and the report were implemented after Congress passed an act in 2009 to review and prevent fraudulent activity. The report details, among other things, the periods before, during, and after the crisis, what led up to it, and analyses of subprime mortgage lending, credit expansion and banking policies, the collapse of companies like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and the federal bailouts of Lehman and AIG. It also discusses the aftermath of the fallout and our current state. This report should be of interest to anyone concerned about the financial situation in the U.S. and around the world.THE FINANCIAL CRISIS INQUIRY COMMISSION is an independent, bi-partisan, government-appointed panel of 10 people that was created to "examine the causes, domestic and global, of the current financial and economic crisis in the United States." It was established as part of the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act of 2009. The commission consisted of private citizens with expertise in economics and finance, banking, housing, market regulation, and consumer protection. They examined and reported on "the collapse of major financial institutions that failed or would have failed if not for exceptional assistance from the government."News Dissector DANNY SCHECHTER is a journalist, blogger and filmmaker.
